This is of interest to me, as I am looking at iTalc at the moment (we used to be impero based a couple of years back, but then went with Dameware then for carrying out our remote support on a one to one basis which is fine for that purpose), but we would like to have the ability back to look at and remote logon a classroom again if possible and iTalc is a bit of a headache to setup so far, in that it lacks ctrl+alt+del function as far as I can see as well as being a bit laborous setting up the computers on it with no auto discovery.

I bring a flask in here (equivalent to 3 large mugs) and drink it throughout the day (I like decent coffee, not the "flat pack" kenco stuff in our vending machine, that is bland), dont drink hot drinks much outside of work though, still love a coffee, took me ages to give up the sugar in it though and have it plain with milk

only other thing I would suggest, is viewing the source on the webpages and seeing what other references/links are in there to other domains, it fixed a few issues with us regarding stylesheets not displaying, because our new filtering was initially knocking off the wanadoo.co.uk domain based style sheets that orange.co.uk use with their website when we saw that issue on our site, you may need to unblock another couple of domains to allow it to display it properly.

LOL love that, Dr Who was about only thing i've enjoyed throughout this year, though Christmas episode wasnt overly amazing I thought, I like the look of Capaldi, though I am waiting for him to swear too. I am the only one in my family that doesnt think much of Mrs Browns Boys here, glad theres some decent films on Sky though this time around that I havent seen and I have had some decent DVDs to be able to watch them as well, though the boy has taken up most of christmas this year, which is extremely refreshing

look for a bundle on overclockers, thats what I did and just bung it in a case, saves a heap too, pre-built are always gonna cost more

I was thinking the same myself, I have been trawling websites and stores this year for a few things and cant seem to hit anything at a reasonable price

I thought the potential of the convergence model of the ubuntu phone was overwhelming and was gutted when it didnt hit the funding, I read an article the other day about Ubuntu though which was quite interesting - Ubuntu's Addiction to Dual-Booting | Benjamin Kerensa dot Com I dont think dual booting is the answer either and that article sums up my linux usage, where I am forced to boot windows for a few things like iTunes to name one. They do need to consider now the partnerships with larger companies if they want more mainstream usage (I know that's not really in line with the FOSS ethos though) so it isnt for everyone. Same thing with ubuntu though as Linux in general, no OS distro walking you through the changes or how the OS operates on installation, its just wham deep end for a lot of people, which is quite overwhelming for the non-technical I think and needs addressing by canonical if they want to grow even more generalist

I am still on ubuntu here, ive ping ponged between Fedora and Ubuntu primarily, though overall I have stuck with ubuntu most, better gfx card support I found and less issues, though I have tried Arch, OpenSUSE, Freebsd and most variants of ubuntu (xubuntu and so on) In work we have 2 servers now, one ubuntu for media capture purposes and another I am building up for monitoring our network using zabbix

you can remove them from registry in windows 7, cant see how thats changed much for 8 Removing printers from regedit on windows 7

SAN should be the last thing to power off after all the servers using its disks have powered down, not entirely sure on the vmware version and its shutdown procedures, I run hyper-v 2012 here, my answer though would be, yes, I would configure the servers to shutdown in the event of an outage, not a power flicker, but an actual sustained outage, (i.e. more than 2/3 minutes of power failure if your UPS can handle that uptime, ideally it should be able to hold them up for about 10/15 mins), we have 2 UPS here and the load split over the two of them, because strange things can happen as we have found recently, when one UPS (our older APC one) actually blew out 4 of its 8 batteries after a power surge here, no acid leak thankfully, as they are dry cells.

Outlook Shared Calendar not enough for that and a reporting email for the Clerk/SMT/Head of Governors ? Think thats what we use here, no specific packages outside of MS office

had ours today, was a lovely turkey dinner and cooked beautifully by our canteen staff, free to me because of lunchtime duties, feeling stuffed now though I have to say, feel like a nap more than anything and counting down the hours until I can have one

Seems like a nice enough looking device there, cant decide whether I fancy a chromebook or a full fat laptop here myself, I trialled a chromebook a while back and liked it, despite looking up the spec and thinking "Eurgh" at the time, it ran everything fast and well, there are some pretty decent AMD based laptops about now, which can handle things like gaming on linux which I want.

sites suggest things like reseating the RAM in the device if your getting lights on with the battery unplugged. Though a bit further reading suggest a possible dead mobo

wish I could do it with the clowns in our area offering "lovefilm" or "wuaki" stuff, I now resort to just saying no and closing the door on them

check the cables when your opening it up to look at the panel, its very rare somethings been loosened, especially if someone has "had a go" themselves on the quiet, I get a fair bit of it now with people following "Ifixit" guides and vids on youtube before coming to me about stuff.

I remain unconvinced with this technology and its usefulness for now, same for the smart watches being touted around at the moment, cost a lot of money for something which just seems to be hype related largely at this stage, it doesnt have any "wow factor" at least in as far as convincing me I really want one bad
