We are predominantly a Netgear site here too, we have lots of GS724TS, one GS247T, a couple of GS748TS, 2x GSM7324s, a Netgear POE switch (forget which model) and a few older D-Link DES-3828 level switches (in places where the devices don't generally need 1gb connections like our print room). We undertook to get the network on our site up to 1gb across the board when I was within the first year of post and unify it to a single brand where possible (going for netgear primarily because of price compared to the alternatives (Cisco and HP) and we had a mixed network with a lot of 100meg D-Link stuff and a few netgears here and there) and its worked very well with minimal fuss when installed, as we redid the network here two years back, the stacks we created using the Netgears in places worked straightaway with no problem at all (because they were not all bought at the same time, I did have a spell unifying and updating all the firmwares on the devices, primarily though because our D-Links were having an issue because of their firmware at the time, I just made sure all was the same), It is worth saying here though that at present we do not VLAN in our school, but thats going to be my next thing to try out around here tying in with our virtualisation project we have ongoing.

I have been playing TF2, CS:Source and DoD:Source on mine fine, I did have a bit of a nightmare last night after I switched to my windows side of the bootup and back, worked out fast how to get compiz settings manager working via command line, because it all went awry when I fiddled with my BIOS and managed to take out unity, its all restored now though

I have an nvidia GTS 450 as my "main" card here, but I regularly get issues installing OS software, because of the nvidia 6100 built into the mobo (even though I do things like disable it in BIOS, telling it to boot other cards first and so on), it still boots up and wants to be the initial boot video, Windows 8 was a nightmare to work out, I have to basically install it with the onboard and then add in the GTS450 again at one point. This time around though on 13.04, I did a search on the ubuntu forums for a guide on how to update the nvidia drivers, rather than just have a go myself here and it seems to have worked fine for me, I am very impressed with it overall so far, just virtualbox and vpn issues to sort out and I am 100% then. tried CS:S earlier and DOD:S after downloading stuff on steam, seems lovely, fast and clean now for me.

I have it installed here now as a dual boot with windows 8 and it works very well for me, minor problems as per usual with my onboard graphics card for the install (more to do with my setup) buts it working well so far and very, very fast I find so far. Privacy is improved now in that all the amazon stuff can be turned off, I followed three different "after install" guides to get the best out of it for me. nVidia drivers were a bit tricky to update, but its now working absolutely fine for me here. no horrible issues so far. Its also running "ok" on my old laptop, better than 12.10 did thats for sure

we use docs on our site here (don't use email side of it at present, just docs), I believe Gareth who I work with has the kids using it as a collaborative tool and its offered to them as an alternative option for creating work, from my pov it seems to work very well and is quite impressive, though I think our LEA setup made it a bit difficult initially to sort out the creation of accounts on there, but now it seems to work fine without any issue

From what I remember off business law I did at uni, you can buy "off the shelf" companies from a lot of places, you just alter the names with companies house and away you go when its bought or just re-register a different company name yourself with companies house, its not a hard thing to do, it is one of those shady things you see a lot of nowadays, each company is also a seperate entity in the eyes of the law from the other business, so any liabilities are only with that particular company as the name is registered so the UK limited is different to the corporation limited and can run up seperate different debts on its own. Its harder to "lift the veil" and see the people behind the companies as well if they run them as a semi-legit business, the owners rarely go personally bankrupt at all.

we have the larger linkstation the 8tb LS-QVL one which was default raid5, it replaced our old 1tb buffalo drive that went bang after about 5 years of us (Fan Failure), we have it set up as the staff media share and the IT departments Technical area at the moment, they can be a bit fiddly with NTLM we found, but it works well now, they can be setup as a network share and managed very well from the web based stuff they put on it. We have planned for a staff share with departments having areas to save stuff too and then giving the departments each a security groups so only they can delete anything in those particular areas to prevent any blundering about in there, the NAS comes with a recycle bin feature too ill wager like this one, which comes in handy at times.

probably realised that it was being marginalised by its own offshoots like ubuntu because of it, that being said ubuntu 13 soon seems quite interesting if they can sort the speed on it especially (even though they are making pacts with the devil re amazon links)

I haven't bought anything of decent value on ebay in years just minor stuff really, though a student teacher the other day was showing me the joys of winning designer stuff with very slight imperfections on ebay, he was winning stuff like superdry hoodies and jumpers for about a 5th of the retail price on there, just depends I think if your prepared to put up with minor imperfections on stuff there. Sounds like you had a bargain there though

I was always a bit wary of trying to flash my devices here, especially within Warranty/Contract Period, so before I had my HTC Desire last contract I waited until near the end of the contract before I flashed mine, it wasnt for the faint hearted I felt and needed LOADS of research and careful reading before taking the plunge with that phone, one part wasn't especially well explained I found out from the various forums and threads I read and that was regarding the HTC drivers needed by windows to flash the device, once that was sorted out, it was relatively painless and it actually improved my phone no end I felt just having a plain "non-bloated" OS on the phone. That is one of the problems I find, the amount of crap that some of the networks bundle with their phones O2 and Orange who I have had phones with in the last 10 years seem to love loading the phone with junk from what I have seen which just isn't needed, that being said, I am using Apple now and the iPhone is quite similar. Jailbreaking is seeming more tempting here by the week

have a Samsung XE500C21-HZ2UK (not sure what model or generation exactly of chromebook that is) at the moment on a trial and its not bad at all when up and running, only thing I find is that the apple style massive touchpad can be a bit quirky on the model that I am using and the "non-standard" keyboard can take a little getting used to if your a regular pc user, works well though I must say and has great battery life on this, impressed me overall here

Yes thatis the basic difference between the two items, the certifier can check that cabling meets standards i.e. ours checks phone cables as well as Cat5, Cat5e and Cat6 standards and the line speeds (from 10meg through to 1 gbps)

I had the original Vodafone PAYG here, the Motorola A130 here and I even have a Ford Mobile phone in a box here that was given to my grandparents as part of buying a new car at the time thats a bit older than the phone I have. Realised in all this as well that I have had probably easily in excess of 25/30 phones since then as well.

considering the chief police officer of her force has waded into this now denouncing the officers actions, I can only imagine the officers future in the force is facing a fair bit of scrutiny here with this as its got national attention, same for the law firm, they are going to be getting a lot of unwelcome attention from all of this.

I dont think that they have ever been the cheap option in the time I have had services with them be it NTL or VM as they now are. I can remember getting it installed now almost 10 years ago in my first house when I was living alone and you had to buy their TV and phone services to get the cable broadband which ended up costing me a whopping £91 a month at the time for the first 6 months of that contract, at present I only have their 100meg broadband (I was on 50 before the "Free" upgrade at christmas) and I am paying £41 a month for that privilege at the moment. I wont get TV with them after the whole "sky argument" debacle, which saw me and my wife unable to watch any of the programming that we enjoyed when they had an argument that time as all sky channels got pulled.
