I've been feeling pretty bad for a week now. Always worse after a night on the beer. It must dilute the antihistamines :-) At work I have air con that filters the pollen and at home I have one of these Its almost like I'm jake in a cage for most of the summer - locked away for my own protection.

All I've had all day is complaints that hotmail is blocked. It appears over the weekend someone took the desicion to add it to the blacklist. Didn't bother with yahoo mail or google mail though. Oh and there is now a block on attachments over 5Mb. After a bit of searching I found this site - a nice wiki on all the changes and settings. Why we weren't sent this by our LA I don't know :?

We are fellow sufferers too. About a month ago they forgot to tell us they were updating and wiped out our mail relay out for 2 days. These last couple of weeks we've noticed a significant slow down in the speed of the internet connection. Only lost connection for a couple of half days in the half term though. The new filtering (using all open source!) is set a bit too restrictive though. However the new spam filtering is great. Spam has gone from 200-300 per week to 10-20 a week. Paid for a murder mystery evening / dinner for 10 friends and myself at a charity function raising money for the NSPCC. Beween us we raised £300 for charity.

I've seen this problem too, only happened on an odd laptop we had. Tried the "High Quality Lines and Shapes", updating drivers, re-installing activstudio, upgrading to v3. Nothing would cure it. I raised a case - so they should be aware of the problem. There were several similar issues on the promethean forums too. In the end I gave it up as a bad job and told Promethean to drop it.

Just a backup server and a couple of test servers in our office. Server room is in another building, hardly ever go in there. I've attached a few pic and the layout to make you jealous of all our office space :-) office.pdf

My brother found an xbox in a skip! Tested it and it worked fine. After buying a 360 he sold the old xbox on a car boot for 20 quid! Living up to the Yorkshire phrase "where there's muck there's brass"

The wireless kit is for home :-) Just had the MS 2000 desktop and mx mouse - so far so good. We only use wireless in schools for the tutor PC's. Never had them stolen, but the batteries have vanished a couple of times.
-
Sure we have one of those in the cupboard at work I like a cordless though - allows me to use my desk for other stuff easier.

A powercut has fried my logitech mx 900 cordless bluetooth receiver :-( Recomendations for a replacement? Like the look of the Logitech® MX™ Revolution mouse. And a Microsoft Wireless Optical Desktop 2000 for the keyboard.

Panorama's "Wireless in schools" Program 8:30 Tonight
steve replied to pete's topic in Wireless Networks
First it was lead in pencils, then chalk dust, fumes from board pens, projector light and now wireless. Some parents must think we are out to kill their little darlings. Do they want us to wrap them up in cotton wool their whole lives?? Get a grip, the world is a dangerous place, far more dangerous than the extreme unlikly chance of wifi doing anything. NEWS FLASH Cotton wool might/could/possibly lead to a rash, schools must NOT use it to wrap children in. -
I've come across that issue too during my testing of the May release - one of the main reasons I'll probably hold out till the june update. Don't you just love it when the LA decide to make huge changes without any warning what so ever? We lost our email the other week after the central mail relay was "upgraded".

Our new air con is set at 21C, inside the cabs its about 25C Our old air con failed over easter - the temp got to 45C before a server crashed and I went to check. I've now bought some climate monitoring kit. http://www.climate-monitor.co.uk/ Very nice kit. If the air con packs in again I'll get an email - and txt via our SNMP monitoring software.

Server 2003 Standard can use up to 4 processors (doesn't matter how many cores in each - so a max 16 cores) and up to 32Gb RAM (if 64 bit)

Depends what you're running on the server. For my new SQL server I'm going for the quad core. Can you let me know where you're getting this offer, will make my purchase a bit cheaper.

I'm experimenting with a string replacement program - BK ReplaceEm I'm using it to search for the .swf string inside doc, xls, ppt files - inside the student folders. Its not replacing any of the files/strings it finds, just using it to create a log files which I can go through at my leisure. You can run it from the command prompt too, so it can be scheduled overnight.

@Jenko22 I've been doing just that over the last few days. If you use the HP Drive Key Boot Utility you can add multipule disk images to the usb drive - no need to partition it. I've created some more advanced menus with the software below: Use hexplorer to edit menu.msg and customise the boot screens and menus. RawWrite to extract images from floppy disks Virtual Floppy Drive to edit disk images without writing them to floppy

Every year we have an independant company take a survey: http://home.btconnect.com/mark.chaplin/index.htm We alternate each year between students and parents. We're looking at the data in conjunction with the computers for pupils initiative. You could also look at it in terms of providing access outside of normal hours for those without computers or broadband - either in school or perhaps work with libraries / community centres. The ICT teachers also take mini surveys for the more intensive courses like dida to ensure they can all complete homework.
