I have used an IBM DS3400 for almost 5 years and it has been rock solid. The latest iteration is their DS3512. You can spec it to include dual fibre controllers and with enough expansion to meet your needs. I can highly recommend the IBM equipment!

We have an Impressa 1W and it is fine! We previously had a TVT-1250 and that was ok, although not as quick or as responsive when in the WebAdmin as the 1W is.

1) They all have the same battery. 2) Ever since the 1st gen iPad I have never experienced any issues with battery nor know of anyone who has had battery problems with an iPad. Sounds like the best thing you could do is get down to your nearest Apple store and get hands on and have a look at them for yourself and make your decision based on what you see in front of you.

Mono (100) = Brother HL-5250Dn or HL-5350DN. Brilliant printers, cheap to run and hardly ever go wrong. Colour (50) = HP CP2025DN however we are moving them over gradually to Brother HL-4570CDW (hoping there going to be as good as the brother mono's!)

Without a doubt iPad3! for what little you would save if you chose the iPad 2 it'll be worth it for the screen resolution. I had a first gen iPad and now have the iPad 3 and for viewing forums it's so much clearer and nicer to read.

A very happy customer of VMware! We have been running VMware for 4 + years now using two IBM fibre SAN's with multiple ESX hosts. We have transitioned over the years from ESX3.5 to the latest vSphere ESXi 5 with no issues at all.

I have been using a TS-659 Pro II with Veeam. No issues at all when using the box as a big dumping ground. We simply connect the share as a mapped network drive and have Veeam backup to that. To give you an idea we backup our student file server daily and it takes 55 min and completes at 203 MB/s. I dont think you would see any performance issues with this device at all. We have populated ours with 6 x 3TB Hitachi drives and so far touch wood its been perfect. I then use another identical QNAP box else where and have setup the Real-Time Remote Replication so it copies everything Veeam to the other QNAP box in another part of the school in the event of a disaster in that room. That replicats approx 4.5TB and takes 4 hours to complete every night. The idea being I can simply pickup the second QNAP from our secure location and walk out with it in the event of a disaster and we have our entire VM infrastructure on it.

Similar situation here, there are 3 of us and we maintain 1050 clients and associated devices. I decided to make departments pay for damage to laptops that was caused through anything other than wear and tear. So the department heads etc. know they will be footing the bill for any damage. Therefore they speak with their department and make it quite clear that the devices have to be looked after as it will be them that it is impacting with the impact to their budget. Seems to work pretty well! I think if we just simply fixed all problems for everyone staff wouldn't give the laptops the same care and I am sure they certainly wouldn't keep such a close eye on the students!

We have 24 laptop trolleys with 15 in each! They are for student use only and all connect using Ruckus wireless and work fine. We have just replaced Dell latitude D530 laptops with Toshiba R850 laptops. The nice thing with the Toshibas are the nice secure island keyboard which hopefully will be more robust than the Dell keyboards were! Usual problems: Batterys failing, keyboards being pulled apart, the odd screen cracked. Given we have 360 laptops we dont get the level of damage you would expect... we are unlucky if we see 2 laptops a week that need fixing. However all staff over the last year have become aware that the old laptops were getting replaced so ignored any damage etc. so maybe it wasn't a true reflection of the actual damage. We are currently replacing the old laptops with the new as we speak so the real damage to the laptops may become apparant as we start to replace them.

If a school wanted to purchase access to this resource for its technical staff is this possible? Currently this would have to be done through purchase orders etc.

The other way i had thought of achiving the same output is to run HyperV on the server and add an additional 2 port NIC and virtualize both TMG box's.

TMG 2010. 3 NIC's: NIC1 :Internal NIC NIC2: External Council Staff filtered NIC3: External Council Student filtered The council connection is currently split between staff and students. The presentation is a Cisco switch: Ports 1-8 = Admin. IP Range: 10.229.16.1-254 Ports 9-16 = Curr. IP Range: 10.229.130.1-254 The LEA provides filtering based upon originating IP address. So therefore when plugged into port 1 for example with a 10.229.16.5 IP address you get the staff filter - so Google images etc. When plugged into port 9 with 10.229.130.5 you get student filter so no Google images etc. Is it possible to setup a single TMG 2010 to route the traffic appropriately? So if a staff member wants the internet it sends traffic out through NIC2 and students go out through NIC3 based on their AD security groups?

HP Procurve infrastructure all with lifetime warranty - 40 switches from 2648 to 5406 been in 4 years and touch wood never had an issue. Have 2 spares incase to minimise downtime. Not had to use the lifetime warranty yet. No intention to replace any time soon.

Currently we have a Cisco solution comprising of a WLAN controller 4402 with 40 AP's: 1242ag models. Providing coverage to site wide access for 550 laptops. Our existing solution is rock solid and have never had a problem. However we are in a position this year where we are replacing our 4+ year old laptops which currently have g network cards with new laptops capable of wireless n. So i was thinking to get the most from the laptops we could do with upgrading our wireless to support 802.11n. I was thinking i could replace my existing AP's with new Cisco wireless N AP's or I could look at a completly alternative solution. How do you think the Unifi solution would stack up against our existing Cisco offering? Other than laptops on the network we offer no guest access at the moment. The only other thing we do is we currently have 12 or so wireless VoIP phones which need the abaility to roam seamlessly from one end of the school to the other. Would this be ok with the Unifi kit or could we potentially hit issues there? Any advice or thoughts appreciated!

I wasn't planning on attending - if I did I'd end up buying something else and not being able to really afford it. The D800 will be my only real purchase this year I think. During our summer holiday the wife and I along with other family members are hopefully going to visit Australia. So the camera bag will be in tow for that one! That's half the reason for upgrading now so I have the D800 for the trip - can't see us popping to Aus again any time soon.

Anything really - just built the lenses up over the last couple of years - mainly for my honeymoon last year (safari). I take landscapes, family events, close up of nature (usually spiders as there the only things that stay still long enough with a 105mm). I want to start using my kit more - my problem is i am not artistic. Got the technical aspects of the camera sorted - i just dont know what looks good and doesnt. i have taken a couple of night school courses locally to help with this and it has helped. I still dont think there is any alternative to practice, practice, practice. I am a keen golfer also and notice how many golf course websites have few shocking photos or none at all. I think I am going to offer to take them some promo photos for free in return for some free rounds?! Fingers crossed.
