How is IAM cloud licenced? Basically what I'm asking is how much does it cost?

Here are a copy of the photos I have just taken which show the iOptions in use on the Konica 454e. Photo 1 : The welcome/logon screen Photo 2 : manual keyboard if they have forgotten their mifare card Photo 3 : After authenticating IF you have any prints in your queue it displays them Photo 4 : If you have no prints in your queue or you choose to use photocopier you are presented with your account selection page After that it's all the usual Konica screens. As you can see it makes releasing their print a lot easier. A simple swipe of their card, select the print from the screen and click print. Job done. As to the cost - sorry I don't know as it was all in our solution. Your Konica rep will be able to tell you.

We run Konica with PaperCut MF - regards problem 1 ask your Konica contract about iOptions. It basically removes the horrible Konica interface to PaperCut and replaces with a much nicer, easier to select interface. We run this on all our 454e and it makes life so much easier for the end user. When I'm in the office later I'll take a picture of the interface and upload so you can see what I mean. There is a cost to it but for us we wouldn't use the Konica's without it.

This came from Lightspeed over the weekend: "To all customers using Mobile Manager with iOS devices: We are seeing and customers are reporting that devices updated to iOS 9.2 are severely delayed when checking into MDM. This results in long delays between a command being sent and received. We have contacted Apple and they are aware of this issue, which affects every MDM (not just Mobile Manager). Their recommendation is that you contact AppleCare Support for assistance at https://www.apple.com/support/business-education/contact/ If you have not updated to iOS 9.2, we recommend that you wait until these issues are resolved or more information is available. We will keep you informed as we hear more from Apple about their progress in resolving this issue."

Yes! It has fixed it for us. -
Sounds like your not managing your windows network effectively then! Supporting a windows network configured correctly shouldn't be any more difficult than a mac network.
-
If you don't mind me asking, what's the reason your wanting to move to an entire Mac network?

Used to be about £1.20 per student, per year

Has anyone successfully deployed this? We are looking at ways to increase the use of Google Drive and alleviate the burden on our internal file servers. The problem we keep facing is: "Do i have to download the PowerPoint/Active Inspire file everytime i want to use it?" - In their eyes it's no better than SharePoint....

I have just run the installer on a local machine, then found the extracted msi located in a similar folder as above. I then created a simple GPO to assign the MSI to a test machine. The machine picked up the GPo and installed the MSI. However when I open Office on the test machine save as does not have Google Drive as an option. Would appear only way i can get it to work on the test machine is to install the exe as the user intending on using it. I was unable to install as administrator on the test machine then log on as a student/staff account and it show in the save as menu within office. Would be interested to hear if anyone has any luck deploying the extracted MSI.

Out of interest where did you bu your Netstor stuff from?
-
Absolutely! Although i did find a supplier of Dell sleds at £15 each which isn't too bad. I'll check them out.

Yes the intention was to pass through the jbod storage to Veeam to do backup to disk.

Can anyone point me in the direction of a good JBOD? I was looking at the MD1420 on the dell website - however it comes in quite expensive. My intention is to connect to my backup server (Veeam) via SAS using an external RAID card in the host (i.e. PERC H830). I want to populate the JBOD myself with large 2/3/4 TB drives. I am after a fairly cost effective JBOD to allow me to do this, does anyone have any ideas or have something similar? Any advice greatly appreciated.

PaperCut MF + Konica Minolta + iOptions (web interface)
Paid_Peanuts replied to Paid_Peanuts's topic in How do you do....it?
OK - latest update: Latest version of firmware for the 454e seems to have resolved all the Error 3 + Error 9 mesages within PaperCut. These error messages appeared when any global change was made and PaperCut had to re-embed itself on a device. Of the 15 we had this would result in 7/8 every time that would error. We no longer see this issue as the latest firmware version has a bug fix to prevent the issue. We are currently running firmware GD3-K1. The tailgating issue we were experiencing where users were not able to log in using a MiFare card within quick sucession of someone else pressing the 'soft logout' key onscreen has been resolved by changing the function version of the printer. According to Konica Minolta embedded iOption manual if you encounter Error 3 messages they suggested changing Dip Switch value to 10 - setting the function level at 2. Every funciton value available (1-6) on this firmware created tailgating issues with the exception of function level 6. This has cured all our problems it would appear. So to recap we are no longer seeing any issues and we are running: 1) PaperCut 15 (Build 33181) 2) Konica Minolta 454e running firmware GD3-K1 with function version 6 Remember - we never had any issues with tailgating when we set the ext-device.konica-minolta.browser.enabled to N = this basically disables the iOptions. So for all of you who are soon to get Konica Minolta with PaperCut and iOptions make sure you set the function version to 6 and run at least this level of firmware. -
VSAN is not covered under the essentials plus licencing model. Based on our essentials plus setup over 3 hosts the cost for the VSAN licencing was : £7000+ You have to buy a minimum of 6 CPU licence for it and first years support is mandatory. Add onto that the cost of drives for your hosts... Makes a jbod look more attractive!

I've always been a fan of both Samsung and Intel SSD. I think in a server environment i would plump for something like the 800GB Intel DC S3510 Series 2.5" SSD, SATA III - 6Gb/s, AHCI, MLC SET NAND, 500MB/s Read, 460MB/s Write over a model like the 850 Pro just in case of reasons like power failure.

Was thinking potentially a MD1400 with 12 SSD - something like the Samsung 960GB 845DC EVO 2.5" SATA 6Gb/s Solid State Drive Mfr#: MZ-7GE960EW After Raid 6 should give something like 9TB of very fast storage. Anyone got any ideas on this principal? Anyone do anything similar?

Does anyone know if the Dell MD1400 series DAS supports 3rd party drives, mainly SSD from the likes of Intel or Samsung?

PaperCut MF + Konica Minolta + iOptions (web interface)
Paid_Peanuts replied to Paid_Peanuts's topic in How do you do....it?
Would appear the very latest version of firmware for the Konica devices has cured a lot of the re-embedding issues we were seeing every time we made a change in PaperCut. Think the version we are running is GD3-K2. However it looks like there is another issue with running this firmware - the issue in the previous post (see video) of tailgating. When someone logs in using their MiFare card, within 60-90 seconds of pressing the "Log out" key the next user is unable to login using the MiFare card. Using the onscreen keyboard works but no card authentication for another 60-90 seconds. Lets hope Konica address this with PaperCut sometime soon. -

PaperCut MF + Konica Minolta + iOptions (web interface)
Paid_Peanuts replied to Paid_Peanuts's topic in How do you do....it?
Thanks minimoo, we use standard MiFare cards here and always have done with Cunninghams and door access. The card readers sent with the Konica devices are Ysoft and they are the HF+LF variant. As i understand after a lengthy conversation with Konica about the card readers, their MFDs will not accept anything other than Ysoft readers pretty much. They will not work with standard keyboard emulation card readers like many other manufacturers will. Konica are just in the process of replacing my card readers for a different models of Ysoft that they can reprogram to read the decimal format straight off the bat without us then having to reverse the hex then convert to decimal in papercut. -

This was a new one we had the other day. User had previously logged in to the printer, selected a single item from her print list. let it print, in which time PaperCut on the device had logged her out. Print job had completed, tried to log back in and got that error. Walked straight to another MFD, logged in straight away using the MiFare card. Went back to the offending MFD, same error. Left it well over an hour, tried again on the same MFD and it worked. This happened twice to the same user in the space of a morning... Haven't had it reported that it's happened again. Anyone seen anything similar?
