Worth pointing out that the Smoothwall Open Source community product is not supported by or related to the commercial product (the Open Source project is on a very different code base IIRC), so if you were using the Open Source product, you would be limited to support in the OS community. You can't ask Smoothwall Commercial to support it.

They clearly underestimated the level of demand putting Moyles back on the air would generate. Bet they're rubbing their hands in glee though.

I was so excited to hear that Moyles was back on the Radio. I can't say I always liked his style but he always made me laugh. Shame I can't seem to get the station though :-(

Not as many as COULD have been killed in such a massive blast - I caught LeFiance watching it on his phones' news app and I thought he was watching one of those found-footage movie trailers. It looked like something out of Hollywood - I can't believe it was an accident tbh.

When I was growing up we always played Rummy or Poker for matches or pennies. At home we usually played Scrabble or Monopoly (custom rules) although inevitably it would end with my sister screaming and in floods of tears as my father my bankrupted her when she landed on Park Lane... Back in't good old days, Smoothwall and the Web Filter (DansGuardian) were two different products. You could have the Smoothwall Firewall software with a basic 'Web Proxy' functionality, OR you could have the Firewall and Guardian Web Filter. This was back in the old 'Guardian 2' days. The product has moved on since then and now the Smoothwall Modules are defined differently and the 'Web Proxy Module' is a legacy module that serves no purpose as it was superseded by the Guardian Web Filter literally years ago. What this email is telling you is that this old, legacy module is being deprecated and removed from the product. I very much doubt there are any that still use it because it was superseded by Guardian. If you are using the Web Filter with filtering rules and proxy settings it is unlikely that this update will affect your filtering in any way as you will be using the Guardian Web Filter, not the old Proxy module. They are just removing a redundant module.

I'm not sure what it says about me that I knew what those were and what they were for long before I expanded the picture. I'm curious why the multiple open syringes mind you - I usually just keep a tube of the silver stuff for my processors - I never bother with the cheap white rubbish. It's not exactly bank-breaking.

That 'Gremlin' thing is horrific. They could have at least matched the ear colours... I pity the recipient of this gift. I certainly wouldn't want to be saddled with this monstrosity...

It was amazing how often my 'tracking' was out when I took my car to Quik-fit... I shudder to think of the money they conned off me....

One piece of insider information I feel morally obligated to share is that many mainstream dealerships make the greatest margin on up-sale. We all know the usual MOT 'pads and discs' drill but it goes a lot deeper than that - the majority of Service Advisors have really really rubbish wages - they earn a 'basic' which is barely scraping minimum wage, and the rest of their 'salary' (over 30%) is made up in 'bonuses' which are calculated based on the department turnover and % of up-sale target met - they are, to all intents and purposes, sales people and it's selling you those tyres, oil filters, brake pads, service plans, etc that puts food on their tables. Not content with holding their employees to ransom over wages, a main dealership franchise owner will incentivise and place targets on certain things - sometimes its tyre sales, other times brake pads etc and some will out and out implement a mandatory policy that makes no sense whatsoever.... The policy I'm referring to in this instance is relating to tyre tread wear. I'm told that branches of this particular dealership have been told by the powers that be to push for tyre sales at a 5mm tread depth, not the previous 3mm... Many brands of tyre only come in NEW with 7mm... Most of their employees don't agree with it. I have a personal suspicion that it is so they can save on waste tyre disposal by selling them on to the 'part worn' vendors! But I have no evidence to back this up, it just makes sense. So next time a dealership tells you you need new tyres, take it with a pinch of salt and ask for actual numbers.

LOL Fastest way to get your job card moved to the back of the queue :-P. Don't forget that often the guys you see out front - especially in main dealerships are not technicians/mechanics. They are Service Advisors - no different from a till operator in $Supermarket$ or Sales Assistant in $Retail store$. They often have little actual experience with the inner workings of cars - they often pick stuff up over time - like changing bulbs and helping with tyres but the real nitty gritty is not their area of expertise so don't expect them to be able to answer technical questions and 'demolishing' them isn't really fair as they can only pass on what they've been told by the technician who often paraphrases, précis' or simplifies things - both for the SA and for the customer. In these circumstances if you have technical questions about the work done to your vehicle, it is best to ask to speak to the technician that did the work. Don't take out your hubris on the Service Advisor because he often goes home feeling like turd because you've belittled him and made him feel stupid for not knowing what technicians take years to learn. He then feels rubbish and this in turn affects his girlfriend because she wants him to actually talk to her rather than stabbing sullenly at his dinner and giving monosyllabic answers...

LeFiance works as assistant Service Manager in the service department of a major South Coast Ford dealership so I get staff rates on all work done, socialise with the technicians and otherwise have 'inside knowledge' so I feel confident that my car is being serviced properly, and if I'm not 100% happy, LeFiance sorts it all out for me. As an example of 'inside knowledge' - LeFiance hears about known defects in things (Example: 09 Focus models have a weak support bar under the front seat that is a known issue and causes terribly squeaky seats when it shears. It's not a safety issue so it's not subject to a recall but it IS covered under manufacturers warranty so if you have an 09 Focus with a squeaky seat, don't let them charge you to fix it). As an example of general in-the-know knowledge; did you know that you have the right to observe the work being carried out on your car, and when they tell you work needs doing - pads, disks, oil filters etc you can ask them to show you before the work is carried out or you can ask them to show you the item they took off the car? I'm pretty sure this is part of motor industry regulatory law but IANAL and many garages will waffle Health and Safety at you to discourage you. I would suggest using this as a litmus test when trying a new garage - if they won't show you when you ask take your car elsewhere.

I opted out but I wouldn't be surprised to find I'm one of the ones that was 'ignored' - the whole process was poorly thought out - I mean the HCIC themselves have said they don't have resources to cope with the unprecedented level of objection - surely that tells you something? Surely it means that the whole plan in the first place was not thought out or researched properly? What annoys me the most about it is how little access or control we have to the data. We can't stop third parties getting hold of our data and that's the worst bit. I know many people are against the ID card idea but I think it would be good to have all our data held on databases that can only be accessed by the ID cards (let's assume for the moment that cards can't be read or cloned without a specific scanner being in actual contact with the card, and that the use of the card is authorised by a fingerprint scan or other biometric to prevent use of stolen cards - any solution will never be 100% abuse proof but we can make it as hard as possible). So you need access to emergency medical care - you go to hospital who then use your card to access your medical record and give you the right care taking into account your individual needs. The ID card could hold details of your driving licence and passport. It could hold information about donor wishes, next of kin contact information, Medical alerts etc. You'll never get away from 'The Government' having your private details, but if YOU are in control of gaining access to them then YOU decide how you want them used. It would require stringent policies to be put into place to prevent misuse but it could be a powerful tool. I know I'd rather carry around my medical record than have it sat in some money-for-access database somewhere being used for unknown purposes.

It might be deeply masochistic of me but I really want to see that new Jurassic World movie. I'm going to assume it is basically Pacific Rim with Dinosaurs. If I go in with no expectations of any science making sense, and try not to take it seriously and just enjoy the screaming, running and general toothy and bloody destruction then it's going to be ACE.
