  1. While I understand the rules regarding salary, is that a typo at 10p above minimum wage? (Just thinking might get more applicants if it is a typo if it's fixed) Steve
  2. Generally I don’t As it automatically filters out ones that are passed date, the old ones sit in the background and then I normally do a clear at half term etc As you’ll sometimes find people suddenly want an old one showing again, so you can just modify the dates and it’s back But I’m sure you could set it up as maintenance to run a script to delete them if you wanted Steve
  3. Haven’t used air server in a while, but that used to be codec related (or QuickTime as they included those codecs back when QuickTime was used ) Steve
  4. Normally that’s something like shadow copies or page files (virtual memory) that can’t be moved (if it’s a data file as mentioned) Best test is to disable both, restart the server so it removes any file like that, and try again. Then re enable it once it’s shrunk Steve
  5. Would love to hear some more about that, nice to see a difference to the normal chromebook schools Steve
  6. If the app is as simple as it sounds and you’re getting blocked that often I’d assume it’s going to be one of a few cases Either you aren’t using “standards” (as in likely to be unblocked) systems, eg azure/Amazon hosting that’s likely to already be unblocked by most schools for some system, compared to Bob running this from his own office server/domain we never heard of (or you’re using one of the hosts that often get flagged for illegal/adult/spam content etc) - Edit - another example would be if you’re doing one of those “helpful” ideas like log in with Facebook rather than email - which then gets hit by social media blocks etc There is something odd in your content/transfer that’s likely to be hitting filters, for example we had one before where one of the abbreviations being used was on the child protection filtering list, so they obviously kept hitting it while traffic went through Regarding the app query, I guess that’s a question to you really. If you’re building the app using ports/sockets etc compared to just HTTPS that’s likely to need different work on the school end as again one is likely to already be allowed compared to the other Generally if it’s an IT related reason and you’ve got in contact with their IT they’d be able to tell you the reason it’s being blocked, as they would have had to make some change to get it working, and might be able to spread light on it Steve
  7. I dug out my old notes regarding how it was setup if you're interested at all It was mainly these two links I used regarding adding filters/attributes: https://support.microsoft.com/en-gb/office/target-navigation-news-and-files-to-specific-audiences-33d84cb6-14ed-4e53-a426-74c38ea32293 https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/office/view-edit-and-add-page-details-778018d3-8269-4fd2-a55d-8c0e5b72b938?ns=spostandard&version=16&syslcid=1033&uilcid=1033&appver=spo160&helpid=wssenduser_pageproperties_fl2026017&ui=en-us&rs=en-us&ad=us The picture below is kind of a montage of my notes/screenshots I did during testing, but basically: Setup custom properties for new posts, like expirydate/startdate/yeargroups etc Red = Setup page with News filtered by start/end date. Use two on the same page: ExpiryDate After [Today] StartDate Before [Today]+1 Which removes anything expired, or not set to start yet Green = How it appears when posting, you then have the new properties showing on each NewsPost added that you can select/fill in Orange = How you see it from the admin side if you just view "all news" rather than filtered, so you can see what tags are added/expiry dates etc. In that screenshot the test was obviously a "Start tomorrow" and "Show until 31st August" Post. Purple/Blue = Example when I was testing 3 posts during demo stages, as you can see demo 1/2 show as they meet the filter criteria, and demo 3 expired "yesterday" so doesn't show Hope that makes a bit of sense only got my scrap notes from when I did it, and don't work there anymore, but I'm sure I can set up another example on my new school if you want any help with it Steve
  8. It’s set on the actual updates, so if you go to the software updates tab, and look at the properties of one, under max run time what’s it set to? (For one that isn’t installing) If that’s showing high then check under admin-sites-site comp-updates-max runtime etc as to what you have set as the defaults As a side note, even 12 could be an issue if it’s high, for example same scenario if it’s 600 mins (10hours), one update installs and takes 2hours 1 min, next update only has 9.59 left and goes nahhhh But yeah check there first as might not be related! Steve
  9. If you mean the category colours this should sync as long as the user has the right permissions to be able to read categories Or do you mean actual calendar colours rather than events? Steve
  10. Normally those kind of things happen as you mentioned regarding clashes in maintenance windows I know for example it will look at the whole “possible” install time before comparing it to the Window So for example if you have the server update set that it “can” run for 600 minutes before timing out, that then “needs” a 10 hour maintenance window; even if it takes 30 seconds to actually install So in that scenario it’ll look on Friday and go, nah only 9 hours. Saturday window comes, nah on 9 hours repeat! Do you have server updates set specifically for timeouts? Steve
  11. The thing is it’s defender screen so based on user reports isn’t it? Steve
  12. Yep same flag Steve
  13. Yes it’s possible, but long winded to setup, but once working works fine What I did previously was setup news posts and create custom categories eg Year 8 as attributes, then a start and end date attribute Create the news page, and add a filter based on posts between start/end/year So it ended up with one whole news, and one page for each year group etc Steve
  14. It’s interesting you say that, we are currently looking at a new build project and thinking about going full intune, but as you say even a few test devices we seem to be getting similar Things like a policy/app fails to apply 3 times and then just seems to sit there broken, until you manually update the original package/policy, rather than just retrying again after a restart etc I’m not sure if it’s just because you’re “supposed” to put in all the remediation rules etc in case and they would resolve it, but it certainly seems more long winded than previous SCCM/gpo etc Similar with the OneDrive sync. Great for 1:1 but again a pain for roaming users to ensure things finish syncing and with fslogix it’s then back to on-site server requirements which kind of removes the purpose with InTune Would be interesting to see if anyone has shared devices working well on InTune, specially around suites etc Steve
  15. Just to confirm, I assume it's the same with Bromcom as it is SIMs (may be wrong but worth a check) but ePraise "Doesn't" write back links etc TO the MIS in terms of student changes etc it only syncs FROM - With SIMs there's a massive big warning at the top of the page "Please use SIMS to update students. Changes made here may not be saved." - or don't you get that when using Bromcom? So you make the change in Bromcom and it'll pull to ePraise to link them when you run the MIS sync Steve
  16. Devils advocate here, but do you need 1gig on the NVR/NAS? If not could always use a splitter and have it running at 2x 100mb instead, but obviously may not be a preference But if you want the full speed, what's the reason the NVR is isolated? If it's only isolated away from the Internet in that sense, couldn't you have a switch upstairs and VLAN/isolate it that way? So it's still using the 1 cable downwards Steve
  17. As above but in reverse We found that the Lenovo own drivers won't working, yet doing the same version from the supplier worked fine Steve
  18. Does it have to be control that way around? We used to have some teachers who used iPads etc and we had reflector running on the pc to mirror the iPad screen that way around. So the pause etc would be done via the iPad (not remotely controlling pc) Steve
  19. Another option would be just rename the image on the server that the policy points to (via script etc) That’s what we used to do at an old site, that way you can have as many as you want in the loop without changing any GPOS Steve
  20. Not sure what drivers you’re using, but we have a series of issues with Lenovo laptops not picking up IPs/WiFi etc when using their own drivers for laptops. Yet if you install the normal intel ones/other WiFi brands etc they seem to work fine. Might be worth a try on some Steve
  21. The silly thing is, we're currently building a new primary school in the Trust that these kind of devices would be ideal for, cheap/small/long batt etc basically a Windows Chromebook for all purposes (or the closest you'll get), and yet with the rep the surfaces have had (as others mentioned) I really can't see these catching on unless MS do some major discounting/freebies to get people testing them. Steve
  22. Need to have a look into that, Always thought you had to license it based on handsets (as in 120 handsets which is the 32sim license) so that’s cool if you don’t need to Mind if I throw a few more questions over in a PM later? We are just starting to look at centralising our trust in all areas so lots of research to do Thanks, Steve
  23. Out of curiosity, how do you find that runs? Always been alarmed that 3cx won’t even offer hosting above 120 handsets and obviously going to need more than that across our trust Thanks, Steve
  24. ESP guys on edugeek we have used to fill temp slots before Steve
  25. As in sccm style mem or intune? But yes to both is the answer As long as you have feature updates enabled as the category you should see the enablement packages and can just deploy them as normal in sccm. You’ll have both showing on the updates tab, just pick the enablement instead of the feature update and deploy as per normal (whether seperate deployment or as normal update package) Steve
