Not currently activating it seems - still getting my head around it all. Much more complicated than Office 2016 and Active Directory Based Activation. Just been doing a bit more research and came across this: You can leverage the “Use a device-based license for Office 365 ProPlus” policy setting in the admin template to set the appropriate reg key. This policy setting can be found under Computer Configuration\Policies\Administrative Templates\Microsoft Office 2016 (Machine)\Licensing Settings. The correlating registry key is HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Office\ClickToRun\Configuration\O365ProPlusRetail.DeviceBasedLicensing with a value of “1”.

And after all that my test user still gets the "Activate Office" screen the first time they logon and try and open any Office app.

In re-creating the store from scratch would I copy from each build of Windows 10 I'm administering to the central store in the order they were created. ie. copy all files from C:\Windows\PolicyDefinitions on my 1607 base PC then copy all the files from C:\Windows\PolicyDefinitions from my 1903 Edu base PC? Over-writing where necessary? Or do I just need the ones from the most up to date version, in my case 1903?

So, take a copy of the "PolicyDefinitions" folder and rename "PolicyDefinitions.old" then remove all the templates I think are old and not required from the live "PolicyDefinitions" folder. Any problems, delete "PolicyDefinitions" and copy back in the .old version?

I've got 248 ADMX files in the folder - some going back to 2009!

Is there a correct way to remove ADMX files from the domain\Policies\PolicyDefinitions folder? I've noticed when editing a new GPO that there are Admin Templates still being pulled in to do with Office 2010 which is long gone. Do I just remove the ADMX files and the associated ADML files manually? Also is there a way to double check that these templates are not referenced in any current GPO's ? Cheers

Hi, We do have Azure AD Connect installed on one of our DC's, currently when you launch the email shortcut you have to enter your email address the first time and then it signs you straight in, subsequent times you just click on your email address from the list. Even if you've signed in to Office 365 for email then launch say Excel on my new W10 Edu build, you are still presented with the "Sign in to setup Office" screen - which seems to be an activation !

I'm currently testing our almost ready to deploy Windows 10 Edu 1903 build (previously we've been on 1607 LTSB for years without issue) Office is installed during deployment via our WDS/MDT setup, exact version is Office 365 MSO (16.0.11929.20288) 64-bit When opening Office for the first time my test user encounters quite a few screens to click through, interested to find out how many of these are seen in a "normal" environment. Firstly the user is presented with a sign-in screen. 1. Then a screen about "Use this account everywhere on this device" 2. The device then seems to "register"! 3. (Where would I see this registration?) Then the user gets confirmation. 4. The user then gets a privacy message. 5. Then default file types need to be chosen. 6. On brief testing it looks like the user gets none of the above screens on subsequent logons to the test PC. Not sure what messages might appear on first logon to another device as of yet! Any guidance much appreciated. Cheers

Currently testing 1903 EDU with a view to replacing our 1607 LTSB deployments. On Friday I installed the latest Edge (Chromium) and the ADMX templates on the domain. Currently looking through all the policies that can be set.. Save re- inventing the wheel has anyone got a list of "must set" polices for the students? Cheers

Our bursar is having a demo on their finance package with a view to it replacing PSF. Currently we're a single school but will be becoming a two school secondary academy in the near future. If anyone has anything good or bad to say about Access Education (formerly HCSS Education) it would be good to get a head's up!
