2 different organisations, 1 Active Directory?
sparkeh replied to techie08's topic in How do you do....it?
This sounds right. Its the same as when an LA licence software for their schools so all of their schools can use it, but if an individual school licences some software only they can use it. -
That's how I heard it as well.
-
Also 'fairer funding' and focusing on Northern Schools Performance.
-
Be interesting situation though wouldn't it. If LAs setup trusts and schools joined them.
-
Great stuff! S1 was one of the best things around on TV the time. Hopefully S2 will be just as good.
-
The section about LAs setting up their own chains is interesting. In effect we could end up leaving a LA to rejoin it under a different status. Wonder if it's a concession so that the government can happily claim that all schools are converted but those schools wanting to stay with the LA can. Politics eh?

Can you use Group Policy Preferences to copy the file?

Grab yourself an evaluation version: https://www.microsoft.com/en-gb/evalcenter/evaluate-system-center-configuration-manager-and-endpoint-protection Then read the windows noobs guides: https://www.windows-noob.com/forums/topic/13288-step-by-step-guides-system-center-configuration-manager/ Also have a look at the windows noob SCCM 2012 R2 guides as mostly they are still relevant and more complete than the current branch guides: https://www.windows-noob.com/forums/topic/4045-sccm-2012-guides/

[news] Replaced with Fruit and Veg....
sparkeh replied to hardtailstar's topic in Jokes/Interweb Things
Sounds like a Cock and Bull story to me. -
We use IT@ if that's what you mean?
-
Ah yes that is a good point. S3 can easily get in a mess due to way it uses DNS.

Have you enabled verbose messages on startup so you can see where the sticking point is?

SCCM v1511 (though I think there is another update now). If you are managing Win 10 with SCCM you will benefit from moving on from 2012 R2

Been looking into this myself. Reflector 2 and Reflector student seem to work well from initial tests: Reflector 2 | Wireless mirroring & streaming for Android, iOS & Chromebooks

The direct complaint is that is disrespects the war dead. No one has said anything about quiet contemplation or the people that might want to visit the cenotaph. I just don't see how it is disrespectful. Graffiti or the like yes, but spinning a car around at a fair distance away, whilst moronic, is not disrespectful.
-
Indeed. I can't see how this particularly disrespects the war dead?!

Agreed, our freezes have stopped too

How do YOU calculate staff FTE for OVS-ES?
sparkeh replied to minature_hero's topic in Licensing Questions
Whilst that formula is in the OVE-ES documentation it is the *US* formula. The UK FTE count is the 200+ hours. Bit more info here: http://marksams.com/blog/how-calculate-fte-count-microsoft-ees -

Hands. Always. I'm a man and men always eat burgers with their hands. Funny thing, my wife was always the same until we had a child, then she suddenly started eating burgers with a knife and fork. Apparently its a more mumsy thing to do
-
Interesting, we don't have any issues with laptops. When they connect they get the update as expected.
-
Its also in WSUS for Win 8 and above. Edit: just beaten to it

As above, do you really new a new domain. Keeping the same domain is going to be so much less faff. Personally, I would do something like set up the new server, create a DC to replicate the existing stuff from the first DC. Then you can migrate the services as quick\slow as you want\need. When you are done you can remove the old DC. Also, I would never run with just one DC, I like to have two to ensure you aren't in trouble if you lose that DC.

Sir Michael Wilshaw criticises MAT exec pay and administration
sparkeh replied to sparkeh's topic in General Chat
Agreed and that there can be bad academy chains as well as bad LAs. However as soon as anyone, no matter who, voices any kind of criticism of Academies they are 'attacking' it.
