So since upgrading to Sierra I can't login as a network user when the machine is booted - the 'other' login option does not appear. However, if I login as a local user and logout again its there! Any ideas why it doesn't show on boot?

Yep. SCCM versioning has changed. Its no longer 2007, 2012, SPx, Rx etc etc. There's now just one version that receives updates. Its now called SCCM Current Branch. Here's info about the changes from 2012 to version 1511: https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/mt622084.aspx?f=255&MSPPError=-2147217396 There's been an update since then that adds features for managing Win 10: https://blogs.technet.microsoft.com/enterprisemobility/2016/07/22/now-available-update-1606-for-system-center-configuration-manager/ IIRC you have to upgrade to from 2012 -> 1511 -> 1606
