I am in the same position and happy to give constructive feedback. 1) Support was great when we first got SW in. Issues were resolved quickly by knowledgable people. By the end we were tearing our hair out with support taking so long to get back to us and resolving problems. 2) Renewal cost was crazy and the quote was indecipherable with all the vaguely name licence and support lines. Sophos was a lot cheaper for the same functionality and a lot clearer in explaining what you were paying and for what. Irritatingly when I informed our SW account manager we were leaving we were offered a much better deal! 3) We were constantly promised UI improvements that never really happened. The Sophos UI is so much easier to use and achieve what’s you want quickly.

Yeah I've seen this quite a bit and I really don't like it, especially with the way that our budget is we can't commit to 3 years of payments. However, I have found in a few cases that pricing up a competitor and informing them that we are moving due to the 3 year clause makes them a bit more flexible.

Sorry let me correct something: with anything pre Win 10 an av client gets installed. With Win 10 a small client gets installed that controls Defender. I use the same settings for Win 10 and for previous versions. You can ignore the ATP Policies node if you don't use it.

Sorry I am a little confused by your question. Do you mean SSEP (Symantec Sygate Enterprise Protection) or do you mean SCEP (System Centre Endpoint Protection)? With SCCM you only need to deploy SCEP client to OS below Win 10. With Win 10 you can apply the SCCM AV policies and Settings to the built in Defender without the need to deploy anything. You don't need to pay for licences to deploy AV protection with SCCM. If you want advanced protection you can pay for ATP.

The thing stopping schools replying (putting the LAs that you have an issue with aside) is the rules. You know, the invalid request that you submitted, the rules that you are required to follow too. I don't think that is true. The ICO is advising schools that the request is invalid and that security concerns are a valid reason not to click the link. That is a very different position that you are trying to characterise. Laughably incorrect. The ICO is concerned with the application of the rules. The ones you didn't follow when submitting the invalid request.

But you could at least ensure that the schools who are not being obstructive (your words) and following advice from ICO can reply. Right?

Depends entirely on funding. Currently we are barely keeping what we have going. We are one of the lowest funded LAs in the country and the main focus is actually funding as many staff members as possible.

Oh hang on, are PXE and DHCP roles on the same server? If so you need to set 3 DHCP options: 60 = PXEClient, 66 = your PXE server, 67 = your bootfile name

Hi. Your request was ruled invalid by the ICO, there is an appeal pending. You are mistaking schools trying to frustrate you for schools following the rules. Its not personal. Let the appeal process complete. Submit a valid request and you will get your data. Its all very simple.
