Cool. I can't see much difference between staff and advanced staff anyway. Must just be some group policy differences I'm guessing.

Cheers guys. Changed their users to 'advanced staff' for the Christmas period and this seems to have done the trick. Gets them off my back for a bit!!

Hi everyone. Is there such thing as a local admin account for laptops on a cc3 network? Basically I have set up the laptops to appear just like the computers in the school suite. However, the teachers have now decided that they want to take their laptops home over Christmas, and their logons obv dont work when they are not joined to the domain. Just wondering if there is a way of creating a local admin account or if you can tell the laptop to stop looking for authentication against AD. thanks a million in advance! alan

Why dont you just increase the size of the font, or hold a magnifying glass to the user's face? this is a cost effective approach!

We rarely do more than 30 of these tests in one session. I dont know how to get past your TS problem I'm afraid, but I would definately not advocate running 180 of them simultaneously!!!! Good luck pal.

Headbutt the people who had Millenium installed in the first place, then format the Hard Drives and install XP.

Shockwave, Flash player, Java Runtime, Drive Mappings (although some are done via GP), Printer mappings, Windows updates, Anti-virus updated, Full AV Scan, BGInfo at logon, yadda yadda yadda. Best thing to do is document what you have/haven't done on the base image, so that in the future you can improve your images.

Maybe you could use some software to show when this pupil has logged onto the network? In all honesty we get a load of kids complaining about lost work, although I think they sometimes say it in order to gain an extension on their homework. Call me cynical but....

We ended up installing this manually to 30 machines. I know its a ball-ache but it didn't take too long. Promissor is actually a nice piece of kit and we use it here a lot.

Just kick the kid out of the school... plant something in their home folder. Problem solved.

We had the kids playing LineRider about 6 months ago... they love playing the Chopper game now. I also love to remotely-control their workstations and crash the helicopter when they are doing well. Give it a try.... HOURS OF FUN!!!

Are the network settings correct, i.e right subnet mask etc. If its a statically-assigned IP make sure it doesnt conflict with a dhcp assigned address. Might also be worth checking if its running at 100 full duplex, I know Ive had switches whose auto-negotiation has let me down in the past. alan.
