Fuse ratings DON'T change. 3 or 13 is what you're going to find mostly, but an _appropriate_ 10 or 5 isn't an issue. The fuse rating should be appropriate for the cable.

Are you mixing up plugging two heavy loads into a twin socket? There can be issues there, though "proper" sockets are rated for 26A.

A few loops of mains cable isn't going to present any problem on a laptop. Tightly coiled extension lead with a fan heater on the end; yeah, that will.

Some good advice - but - this is wrong. A 13A BS1363 plug is designed for 13A. No caveats. A piece of equipment with two 13A plugs, unless feeding entirely separate bits (grill and hotplate say), is what is known as a widowmaker. Oh, and by the way, the caterers will have forgotten to tell you about the warming cabinet, two kettles, and their phone chargers.

It seems that the heat may have ******up our lift. It has an encoder to tell it where it is, and proper switches at each floor level. The current hypothesis is that the tape for the encoder has stretched, and it is getting conflicting signals. Not the first time we've had problems, but it has always worked when "the man" is here. Today, it stayed broken for him to see. He can't fix it; and has escalated...
