ran the upgrade on monday and so far havent come across any reported issues, CPU usage is basically ticking over on the server we have. did apply the patches at time of install as well

havent alot lf primary schools already been moved over to the hosted option these days?

thats a silly amount of CPU usage i take it that you use lesson monitor for registration must be dragging its ass. did capita raise any issue with the specification of your server? as i got the impression from recent seminars and the like that they are doing all these changes and wizz bang stuff but not taking into account that some schools might be running on limited hardware

i use one for "development" and one at present for live installs. not been using it long but has already proved handy for testing small tweaks and changes without causing issues to the main deployment share (like completely ballsing up an XML or something like that)

I doubt they would, i wonder if they would appreciate it if i off loaded the large amounts of ear ache slow performance brings lol

this is true but i dont want to potentially cripple sims within the school just to complete a census, still awaiting some instruction from our LEA as the did pull the upgrade but we havent heard anything back from them yet

still advisable to hold off actually running the upgrade??? im guessing there must be a cut off where everyone needs to have it installed regardless (the upgrade and any patches there after)

wish they would fix the shoddy licensing and activation for CS6 before doing this......... its not like its an expensive bit of software which deactivates itself...

wouldnt use 7.2K drives for what your after using it for. id be looking at SAS based drives and the required RAID setup, id consider possibly a multi raid array setup for your OS and DATA requirements. i like the HP gear and come with good tools for management and they are priced well (the school i work in have considered them recently as Dell pricing has got silly)

ive fitted the service kit on a 4250 its pretty straight forward and they supply all the "tools" you need. when i last did one its worth checking the condition of the rollers as they dont always need to be replaced all at the same time.

i have used these people for printer parts in the past including HP Printer parts, repairs & servicing they carry alot the HP stuff in stock. agree the point about newer printers not being as robust as the older ones which is a damn shame and annoying

Hi all, after some advice due to a slight dropping the ball moment with our hosted MLS Eclipse system we have two versions of the database which need to be merged into one whilst retaining the information in both so any lending or returning isnt lost. im due to contact the supplier tomorrow but was wondering if the above is possible and how to go about doing it.

you can do it without using MDT/SCCM but both give you the templates for the unattend. 1st time i experimented with automation i just installed the Windows AIK to build my unattend.xml files and ran them on the machine as part of sysprep. once you done this MDT ect becomes easier to use imo and you are already familiar with the config files and the process going on behind the GUI

we had this issue with our securus client, needed to be upgrade and now running version 7.xx which has been fine

i3 for laptops imo. even an i3 on a desktop is a decent experience and more than capable (im sat writing this on an i3 system at work) HDD performance is the bottle neck especially as alot of cheaper laptops still come fitted with 5400rpm drives which are usually woeful

my other half has recently purchased a mk1 1.6 focus edge 3 door and it drives VERY well sticks to the road nice and level when pushing it no real body roll or wobble so an ST must be great fun. and i have seen them for sub 3k in good nick and not molested as they have decent wheels anyway. I know it might be considered a girly car but have you thought about a BMW E36/46 compact? RWD goodness still i think

@RickH not having any luck, perhaps an amd/atom might do the trick and be easier to find, not sure on the atom being able to decode that well mind last time i tried with one it wasnt brilliant

@RickH i only googled it myself tbh i can have a look and see what i can turn up its an excuse to roam around the net looking at hardware

i have a motorola razor I and so far iam pleased, not quite as big as other smart phones but i see this an advantage, also its something slightly different to the usual choices. decent battery life, as for the performance i dont really use all the features of smart phones but the UI is smooth and the screen is nice.

i found that if you set this as a global rules for the entire MDT share it takes the values without the need to select as part of the install. not sure if this is how your supposed to do it but was the work around that i used. i was specifying local values in my unattend.xml and it was ignoring me.
