If you get outdoor fibre it would be ok, I had fibre up on a catinery and around the roof line of a building before it went underground. Just ensure its well protected from where it comes out of the ground to the roof height, we had ours put in armour ducting and then used armored fibre just to be very safe as if determined it will slow any vandals down.

A shelf is the way forward you can get some little tiny shelves that are about 6" deep perfect for baby routers I have used one for a DSL bonder in the past.

Exchange is a program that will consume whatever ram you give it, for example you have given it more and it used it and then gave it further ram and its consuming it again, this is by design of exchange. In your setup, which sounds similar to what I was running with all roles on one VM and similar number of mailboxes, I had 32Gb ram on the box with 2 partitions one for the OS and Exchange and the other held the DB store and logs. You need to work out what ram fits your needs between performance VS available resources. If things seem a bit slow add a bit more, you will hit a point where adding more makes no difference to your needs. I personally would think 8 was a bit small, the 24 you are using now sounds good see how it performs and how users see it responding if they don't complain then leave it at that.

Not that I've found just take adequate precautions for its height is what I would say.

Second the rawlbolts need a really good fix on walls and they are the best I find, only other way I have done is threaded bar resin'd to the wall with that stuff designed to make things float over nothingness and they will never move again Fischer P Type Wallbolts M10 x 135mm Pack of 5 | Screwfix.com more like what I use.
