    Ahh, well you can pay (well could when it was Serco) for them to come and re-install your SQL and migrate your Facility DB to your new SQL that has been setup by them and thus no risk of them ever turning round saying you have re-done your SQL wrong thus that is why you have lost all your data. I am sure it has plenty of ££££ in the figure they quote It wasn't that hard or messy tbh mainly common sense just a few things to check they are set right and boxes ticked and that was it, open CMIS, let it make a new DB and then do a full restore of your DB to it then bin the test / fake one you made and all worked well for us.

    It is a paid for service to re-install the SQL to ensure it is done correctly as if its not it can leave you in a very big mess. The document used to have a very large health warning on it that your support contract would not cover you if SQL was not setup right if it was not the SQL install done by them.

    The SQL has some gotchas on how it should be setup, there certainly used to be a guide on Firstline for how that should be setup as I have seen it before so unless it has been pulled it does exist.

    Yes it is, we bashed on to parents how 1 day sick equates to % of teaching time in an options subject etc.. and how 5 days holiday equated to x% of teaching time and how detrimental it was. It was quite astounding how it hit parents.

    I think it was someone being too cautious, I know I was always very skeptical of having one in a food tech room but these NECs have not died or suffered so just do it.

    Clearly a lot of your schools are serving rubbish for food by the sounds of it or maybe you expect the turkey twizzlers still and not shepherds pie, lasagne, fish and chips etc... ? The school I worked at had brilliant lunches and break-time snacks were good, nice proper cooked meals for lunch and yes the break snacks were that freshly baked pizza (wholemeal base etc..) paninis, sandwiches, salad boxes etc... but lunches were sandwiches, pasta boxes etc.. and three cooked options including vegetarian options and it was really good food, nutritious and very good and highly recommended.

    Stage Electrics often run courses on LX and AV so could be worth a look out, contact the training team via the Website if you don't see a course up as they tend to look for a bit of demand as well before sticking them up

    That was the exact same reason as last year's to bring it in-line with the Euro so I would be skeptical again.

    It could be that the monitors are on a phase of electric that maybe has a large device on it that is noisey perhaps?

    That is well news worthy when we saw it earlier today in the office I was upset that someone could do such a thing to a little ball of fluff

    Sounds like you have it sussed, in theory stick the software on a Pc in the school and connect to it as CCTV or your internal IP and it will just work (with the right software / active-X control / User credentials). From home enter it as cctv.school.la.sch.uk or the external IP (some of the CCTV DVRs don't like host names in the software they give you as I found out!) and off you go.

    The password your referring to is the entire program not per room as such. I don't think you can password just a room. As has been refereed to above you can lock a set machine down to a set group of machines which is how we had it you were in room X you could only see Room X on the teachers machine. If it detected an Admin was logged in it over-rode that and showed us everything. Maybe one for @russdev to add to the feature request list?

    Our food room the projector was just a normal NEC unit and was fine and hadn't blown up in years of use. The filters and unit were greasy so needed cleaning in degreaser but the image was never an issue so I wouldn't worry unless its directly over a cooker or something? Ours was mounted in the isle between the cooking areas so its was general "floating" fat and never suffered. The other option is a large screen TV on the wall perhaps?

    Have you tried contacting Sahara direct to see if they can supply the lamp module separate ?

    No changes should be needed to your internal DNS if it is purely internal DNS unless its a split DNS ? If you want to access it from home as cctv.school.lea.sch.uk whoever hosts the dns for school.lea.sch.uk needs to make DNS changes to allow that, you have mentioned you have put a request in so should have got the firewall ports opened so it should connect via the external IP you have been told to use. You could put it in the internal dns for convenience of internal access and if you did that you would make an A Record which is all you need so you give it the name EG CCTV and the IP it points to if the device itself doesn't auto-register.

    AFAIK I have never had a battery change the config, it just stops some of its advanced features working IE the ones that rely on it having the battery.     Only issue comes with playing with students names is in relation to Examination Entry's the legal names need to be used on Exam Entries and thus will appear on the certificates etc... It is an area we have always had conflict with Parents who don't see why we put Jen in as a preferred name and thus when mail-merging the legal first name it came out Frances as that is her legal first name as Jen is what she prefers to be called. When we explained why they start to understand a bit or in some cases the parents go and change the kids name to what they actually wanted them to be!

    It would be all the time and getting worse in terms of the banding darker / thicker etc... if it was a belt I don't often find belts intermittent, they can slip but you get a broken image yours looks ok as you wouldn't get the blocks of "colour" if it was slipping so I'd wonder about a controller issue maybe?
