  1. Hi All, Just wanted to say thanks for the feedback, and apologies for delayed response. Very interesting to read your comments. By way of an update, since the firmware was updated to version: 7.0.95 we have had no complaints about the WiFi at all, so pretty sure our issues were linked to the firmware on the APs. Just curious that other schools were ok before the new firmware was released, but as long as it's working I won't worry too much about that! Going to give it a few weeks, and if no problems, will try WPA3 again.
  2. Hi All, We replaced our ancient WiFi system with new UniFi U7-Pro access points over the summer. The WiFi network has been nothing but trouble ever since. Disconnections half way through streaming, unable to reconnect, roaming working poorly. I was just wondering if anyone is successfully using the U7-Pro in a school without issues? I'm not blaming UniFi in general, as I know that older access points work successfully and I support another school using the U6 without any problems. There are loads of complaints about the U7-Pro on the UniFi forums, but mostly relating to IOT which I don't really care about. I'm worried we've made an expensive mistake and will have to switch again to a more robust system. (Note we also replaced the infrastructure with UniFi switches, so each AP is getting 2.5Gb, and 20Gb back to the core. The core is still an older HP switch).
  3. Is anyone else having very unreliable 'imports' into CPOMS. We support two schools. Both are showing as failing. Have reported it to CPOMS, but the only response so far is 'has anything changed' which it hasn't as far as we know. Even when it was working, the dates are sporadic. Sometimes daily, sometimes many days missing between imports. Support previously told us that it was supposed to be daily. The MIS is 'Sims Connected' which isn't reliable at the best of times, but the import is via Groupcall, which is reporting no errors on the portal. Really not sure what to check as there are very few options on Groupcall. On the Imports page in CPOMS there is a button for 'Status'. If you click that it says 'Unable to fetch logs' so not very useful.
  4. Ahh, ok, so it's synced stuff only. That maybe makes it less useful if it can't just browse the live Teams. I'll do some experiments! Thank you.
  5. Hi All, As per the photo. Does anyone know how this list of Teams, and their contents, is made to appear in Explorer? It seems to be there for some users and not others, and I can't work out where it's coming from. I want to get it working for all users as it's quite useful. Not sure if it matters, but all these machines are InTune Managed only. Thank you.
  6. Ours is set to run the following command: "C:\Program Files (x86)\ParentPay\MISSync.exe" With the arguments: /sims /quiet Set to run weather or not a user is signed in, and with highest privileges.
  7. Quite new to InTune myself, but can you use: Configuration > New Policy > Template > Edition Upgrade and Mode Switch It lets you switch to Education Edition, and put in a MAK key.
  8. We have this but only on one server. It's a horrible bit of software that constantly locks up the machine and freezes whenever it is doing anything so I wouldn't want many people to use it. The student sync is fully automated though so no need to run manually at all. Perhaps this needs setting up on your system? Once it is set up it runs as a Scheduled Task on the server. Ours runs once a day. The staff sync is a manual task (not sure why), but unless you have staff starting and leaving every day there doesn't seem to be much need to give multiple users access. I would have a look and check you have the Scheduled task configured for the student sync as this might solve the problem.
  9. Thanks All, I've set the setting recommended by Primus, and I'll possible looks to do some manual channel settings if necessary.
  10. Hi All, Over the holiday we replaced our ancient Meru WiFi with new UniFi WiFi 7 Access Points, and new UniFi switches. Although it's generally working there have been a few problems with disconnections, and moving around the building. I'm thinking it may be related to the channel selection (which is set to Auto). See screenshot. Almost all the APs are on the same channel, even those close together. Does the auto channeling just not work? I've tried the 'Optimise Now' button in the settings but that appears to do nothing. I know the channel selection is done at reboot, but even on reboot they come back on the same channel. Do I need to do the channeling manually? Thank you.
  11. We've got one in our conference room. (Large very long table) and it sits in the middle. It works well. Good sound and the tracking works well for us, even if someone is walking around the room. No software is needed as it just plugs in as a USB camera and appears in it's own window. As far as the PC is concerned it's just a normal webcam with one input. Works fine in Teams. I think there is software you can run to add more features, but we've not needed that. (Also it hoots when you switch it on which for some reason is very popular!)
  12. https://teachers.bluelightcard.co.uk/ Further down in the FAQ is says 'Teaching and supporting staff' are eligible.
  13. Hi All, Trying to get my head around certificate based wireless connections. I've had it working for a while with device only certificates, but that doesn't work well with filtering by user. I've got my PKI set up ok. Devices get a certificate, and users get a certificate when they log in. I've set up Radius (NPS) to handle the authentication and this works fine also. My problem is getting a laptop to switch from device based authentication to user based authentication when a user logs in. I've tried 'Computer or User authentication' setting in the GPO (that seems to favour the user certificate and the device certificate never connects. I've tried two separate settings on the same SSID. Again, the device based connection never seems to kick in. I've tried two SSIDs, one for devices and one for users. They both work as expected, but the user one doesn't take over on login, even though it is the 'preferred' connection. If I toggle wifi on and off it will connect to the correct one. Am I completely misunderstanding this process, or do most people not bother with this, and find other ways to authenticate filtering while using the device certificate?
  14. It does appear they have fixed it this morning. It wasn't working earlier, but now it is. Had an update to our ticket as well to say it's fixed.
  15. Having the same problem here. No access to Purple Mash. Have logged a ticket on TalkStraight Portal. They have acknowledged, but not responded yet.
  16. This one is confusing me. I have two deployments for Office 365, using the ODT. Both configuration files are identical, except for one line changing from 0 to 1, depending if it's a shared PC or not. Both config files include the line: However, if I install the version of Office with SharedComputerLicencing set to 1, old Teams pop ups about 2 minutes after Office finishes installing. If I install if the version of Office with SharedComputerLicencing set to 0, then no Teams. It makes no sense, as the rest of the config is exactly the same. Anyone else run into this?
  17. Could you confirm which reseller you spoke to? VeryPC told me it's still not available for schools when I asked for a quote a few days ago. Thanks.
  18. Hmm, so it seems they have removed the 300 seat requirement for the E type licences but not the A type licences yet. I just tried to buy a licence, and it won't accept it. Says I need an E3 or E5, or Business Standard, or Premium, to qualify. I'm sure we'll get there in the end!
  19. Thanks David. Looks like everything just came back online for us.
  20. We are not an Arbor school, but I've just tried getting to their website and it won't work for us either.
  21. We seem to be having huge problems with outgoing stuff! Internet generally working but most of our services down! Phones Sync tools, etc.. Anyone else the same?
  22. That's disappointly insane pricing! I posted a comment on there to say so, but it may get removed! I assume they will have no customers at all in schools then. What school can afford £85,000 a year in extra licencing costs! I feel like the cost per user is acceptable, but the seat requirements are not appropriate for education. We don't even have enough people to use all those licences so more than half the money would go on nothing at all! Can only assume this is aimed solely at universities, and private schools. I suppose it might work for a large MAT if you are allowed to buy it on that basis but in our MAT we all licence Microsoft separately.
  23. Seeing this as an option now: Microsoft Copilot Studio for Faculty £90 per licence per month! Not clear what it actually is but I think it's more of a programming thing for creating your own AI tools.
  24. Thanks everyone. Very interesting. I hope they drop the 300 seat requirement when they release it for Education tenants. We don't even have that many staff, and I doubt many schools do unless you are in a Trust that shares a single tenant. I'm certainly getting a lot of junk mail at the moment from companies promoting their 'Get Ready for Copilot' events and seminars, so I assume it's coming fairly soon.
  25. Hi All, I was keen to give CoPilot for Microsoft 365 / Office a go when it was released, but I'm not seeing how to purchase it, or do schools just have to wait longer? It's not showing in the purchase services section of my Admin Portal. Is this because we don't have any E3 / E5 licences. I assumed that A3 / A5 would also be acceptable but perhaps they are not. Does anyone know how we buy it? I only really want one licence to have a go with. Thanks.
