We are looking to buy a few 7 metre HP 10G SFP+ Direct Attach Cables. One thing we are confused about is the mention of X240 or X242. We have no idea what this means, and there is nothing on the internet about this that I can find. Can anyone tell me the difference. The switch we are using is a HP E5412 so we want the cables to be compatible. Module is a J9538A. Any help appreciated. Thanks.

No unfortunately not! I got the coffee machine second hand on eBay for £100 (there are quite a few out there), and bought about £90 of coffee pods myself (also eBay). Been keeping the three of us going for about a year now so not bad value for money I think!

Can anyone tell me how to configure the tagging on a port that is going to be used for a telephone and a computer simultaneously. We use HP fully managed switches. I have a VLAN for telephony and one for the computers. Thanks very much.

Thanks everyone. All working now. Tried a third mac and it downloaded without issues. Still won't work on the other two but not sure why. They are all the same age and model and have the same image installed. Oh well! As long as it works I'm happy.

I've just discovered that Apple appear to have removed Mountain Lion from the App Store (despite the fact that this is a paid for app!). I desperately need a copy in order to complete the image I am creating for next week. Not ready for Mavericks yet, as it doesn't work properly with Workgroup Manager. Anyone know if there is a legal download I can use for this?! Sometimes I think Apple really hates network admins!

This is terrible! Workgroup manager worked fine, and was really easy to set up. Profile Manager seems very flakey and broken! I've just spent the whole day playing with it, and have now given up. Machines are enrolled, but the server seems very reluctant to actually push the settings out. I've tried both computer settings, and user settings. Managed to get a machine to pick up computer settings once, but then it ignored any changes I made, just not pushing them out. User settings (targetted at an AD group) don't seem to push out at all. Anyone had any luck with getting profile manager to work reliably? Looks like we are going to have to stick with Mountain Lion for now. Don't understand why Apple updated Workgroup Manager if they weren't planning to make it actually work!

I was wondering if someone could give me a basic overview on how this is supposed to be structured as I'm struggling to get it to work. The help files are good on details, but give very little information on how to structure the volumes and data. I have 6 HP Lefthand P4300G2 SANs connected to a cluster of 4 Windows 2012 servers running Hyper-V. I am trying to set up a new backup using either Veeam or DPM. I have the Application Aware Snapshot Manager Installed on the Hyper-V Servers, and it is authenticating correctly to the SANs. This is the point where I think I may have made a mistake with the setup - The SANs are hosting a single 40TB volume which is shared to the Server Cluster over iSCSI. This works fine, and all my Virtual Servers are held on this 40TB volume. When I try and take a backup using either Veeam or DPM, I get an 'out of space# error in the event log, see below: HP LeftHand VSS Provider: Failed to take snapshot during CommitSnapshots , 0x80001010 - Sending Multiple Operation Failed: Insufficient space to make the requested change. Is the SAN trying to snapshot the entire 40TB volume and is this why it fails? Should I have created a separate volume for each virtual server. If so, that seems like a lot of work to manage, especially as the volumes are connected using MPIO. There is 9TB of unallocated space on the SANs and the server I am trying to backup is only about 100GB. Do I need to allocate this space in some way maybe? Does anyone have Veeam or DPM working using HP Lefthand SANs? How did you structure it? Thanks.

Hi All, I need some help configuring my first suite of Macs. I used a guide on here to customise the user experience, by modifying the user template and then copying it over the default (English.lproj). This worked well, and all new users picked up the new default template. That is, until I unticked the 'Force local home directory on startup disk' option, which forces user files and settings onto the server instead of the local disk. This is how I want it working. Unfortunately, once this is ticked, the new users no longer pick up my modified default user template. Is a different template used when this option is unticked? I've run a permissions repair on the disk in case it was related to that. Thanks.

This is usually a group policy setting rather than a setting in the image. Are your new computers in an OU that is picking up the same policies as your other computers?

It deploys ok for us using SCCM, but we don't use a MST file. Can you install it without the MST of is it crucial to your setup?

Two of those on my list in the previous post are internally hosted services. Would that work? Obviously they are available to the Internet.

Hi All, We have just bought some new laptops (Samsung NP355V5C). These are the first lot we have bought that have come pre-installed with Windows 8. As we have a Microsoft EES agreement I assumed I would be able to deploy Windows 7 on them and volume activate them like I do with everything else. This has failed. The error says: Volume-licensed systems require upgrading from a qualifying operating system. I wondered how the laptop could possibly know what operating system it came with once the hard disk had been wiped, but apparently it knows from the BIOS (Something called an ACPI_SLIC). See this support page: You receive an error message when you try to activate Windows Vista or Windows 7 on a computer that was obtained from an OEM So my questions are: Is it legal to install Windows 7 Enterprise on a laptop that came with Windows 8 OEM? I thought it was under an EES agreement. Assuming it is legal, is there any way I can get these to volume activate? I'm worried that if more and more laptops come with these chips, it will become impossible to activate Windows 7 on anything. Hoping I've missed something obvious and there is an easy way around this. Thanks.

Hi All, Not my decision, but our whole ICT department is being rebranded to 'Digital Learning'. My department is therefore going to be rebranded to 'Digital Support'. Could anyone help us come up with a logo that includes our school logo in some way, and the text 'Digital Support'.
