  1. Yes, that's the one. Just put it in my central store, but still only seeing 2016 when I edit a policy.
  2. Can anyone confirm if I should be seeing a new Administrative template for Office 2019 / Office 365? I've installed the latest GPO templates from Microsoft, but only seeing settings for Office 2016. Is it just a case of using the 2016 settings, and Microsoft just haven't updated the naming on the templates? Thanks.
  3. Thanks for all the suggestions! Curtains is something I hadn't considered, but I'll contact the recommended companies for advice. https://panoramea.co.uk/skinnerskentacademy/?startscene=25 That is a link to the hall in question. We currently have a portable sound trolley that we wheel out, and it attaches to two large speakers that we place either side of the hall. Not really ideal at all! I wonder which such a high ceiling if baffles on the ceiling would have much effect? Think I need to get an expert in!
  4. Has anyone got any experience improving the acoustics in a large sports hall space? We don't have much hall space, so we are forced to use our sports hall for assemblies, and special events. This involves setting up a PA system, and projector whenever we want to use it. The acoustics are terrible, and a lot of what is said goes unheard. The two options appear to be: - Improve the quality of the audio equipment. e.g. more smaller speakers in a better configuration. Had a quote for this for about £11,000 for a fully installed audio system. - Get the walls covered with sound proofing, foam or boards. Seems much more expensive based on the quotes we've had, about £30,000. Has anyone been successful in making a very echoey hall space usable? If so, how did you do it? Thanks.
  5. Sorry for delay, and thank you for responding. Yes, there is a main teacher selected in Nova. Just no supervisor in Sims.
  6. Really hoping I can win this. I'm beginning to struggle with my current workstation. Specs: 2mb Chip Ram, 16mb Fast Ram, 68040 processor (I know pic shows 68030, but I upgraded it), CD-Rom, High Density Floppy Drive, 4GB HDD, Recently upgraded to TFT monitor! Running Hyper-V in 18mb of memory is a bit of a struggle, so any upgrade would be welcome.
  7. Hi, We are having some problems with Show My Homework pulling through classes from Sims. It seems to be that some of our classes do not have a 'Supervisor' set, and this seems to be the classes that don't show up. The classes all have teachers assigned on the timetable, and everything looks good on Sims itself, except that when you click a lesson on the timetable, and click 'class', the list of students comes up, but the supervisor box at the top of the page is blank. The teacher box is populated with the correct teacher. Does anyone know how this field gets populated? I'm not a timetabler, but our timetabler is new and hasn't got a clue how to fix this. Any ideas appreciated.
  8. Sorry, this is one that's been causing me problems for a while, but it's difficult to explain, and therefore difficult to Google. We have a Hyper-V cluster of seven nodes. Every now and then, one of the virtual servers will suddenly decide it cannot see one of the other virtual servers (on another host). The two servers will not be able to ping each other at all. All other communication on the servers works fine. The cluster logs no errors. It seems like a problem with the host, but both servers can ping all the other servers on the other host. It's only the direct connection between the servers that is lost. Rebooting the servers does not fix it. However, migrating one of the servers to another host immediately makes it work again. As you can imagine, this can cause serious issues, when for example, the Skype for Business Server loses contact with the Exchange server. It's easy to fix once you identify the problem, but I really want to stop it happening. Anyone experienced anything similar? For info, the hosts are HP Blades BL460c. The network adapters in the Hosts are: HP FlexFabrix 10Gb 2-port 554FLB
  9. Is anyone else having problems connecting to servers with this? If we select the option to 'use my Windows account for this connection' it throws back 'your credentials didn't work - try again'. If we select 'use another account for this connection' and put in the same windows credentials that we are already logged in as, it works! Any ideas?
  10. How do people handle HTTPS filtering on BYOD? Particularly in regard to getting the certificate installed? It seems to me that there is a battle going on between companies who provide filtering, and those who provide hardware, browsers etc.. and the filtering is losing. The process to install a certificate to decrypt traffic is so complicated for an end user that I can't bring myself to start writing guides for iOS, Android, Windows, MacOS etc.. as I know our users will not be able to handle the complicated process of getting the certificate in the right place, and trusting it. At the same time, I'm reluctant to turn off HTTPS for BYOD, as we want our students to be able to bring in their own devices and use them safely in school. The fact that HTTPS filtering now seems to break so many apps anyway, even if configured correctly, I can't help but think that filtering HTTPS is going to become impossible very soon, and as most websites are switching to HTTPS, that means that filtering in general is going to become impossible. Am I exaggerating the problem, or do others think this is the way it is going?
  11. Not to worry. I got it working. Looks like it was to do with launching the program from a shortcut that caused the issue.
  12. Hi All, Can anyone tell me what I'm doing wrong here: If I remove the top rule (blocking %appdata%) Spotify works fine. But if I put it back it stops working. To quote Microsoft Technet article: Path rule precedence: When there are multiple matching path rules, the most specific matching rule takes precedence. So, I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong. The more specific 'unrestricted' rule should be overriding the %appdata% rule but it doesn't. Any ideas?
  13. Ahh, it works if I select 'MultiLanguage' as in your screenshot. If I select English or English International then I just get the Nov15 one. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction!
  14. Can anyone point me toward the 1709 language packs? For some reason, the language pack iso on VLSC is from 2015.
  15. They definitely can't remove the profiles. We really aren't sure what has happened. It seems that the problem isn't getting any worse though. We wanted to avoid getting them all to fully reset them as it would cause problems with them getting all their stuff back if they haven't backed them up properly. What we have done is put our enrollment URL on the screens around the school and told them to put it in to Safari if they are having problems. Seems to be working as a lot of them have now re-enrolled.
  16. Today we've had multiple students come to the office with their iPads where all the apps have disappeared. On closer inspection this is because the Lightspeed MDM profile has disappeared from the iPad. Students can't remove them. The devices still show up in the Lightspeed MDM, but they are no longer updating, or syncing. We can't work out why they would have suddenly lost the profile and Lightspeed support didn't know either. They are all on DEP and that part seems to be working correctly. Some are on IOS 11 and some on older versions so it isn't related to that. Is this affecting anyone else? Looks like it's going to be a big job to call all the affected devices back in and manually re-enroll them.
  17. Just to update, everything working again this morning. No changes this end.
  18. Is anyone still having problems today? We can't get our kiosk to talk to MLS at all. Nothing changed at our end as far as I can see. Also, our security gates aren't identifying the names of the books like they usually do.
  19. Thanks, that's all very useful. I'll definitely look into this further and contact you if I need any more advice. So looks like the place to start is moving users to Office 365.
  20. Hi All, We currently have a Skype for Business Server running our telephones. All Polycom phones running Lync Phone Edition. We also make use of the Skype for Business App. It is heavily integrated with Exchange 2016, and we are using voicemail, etc.. through this. We are connected to the world via a Gamma SIP. Has anyone with a similar setup, made a successful transition to Office 365 and Skype for Business Online? We've been looking at this, but the complexity is concerning me. I was going to start by moving Exchange, but I can't find much information on how the Skype side of things would work. If anyone has done this, did you find a guide to the process, or have support from any experts who know how to get this working? I ultimately want to move fully over to Office 365, but the telephone system is holding me back. Thanks.
  21. Sorry, only just spotted this reply. Thanks for suggestion, but no, they are all V8.
  22. Thanks, I'll give Refind a try. Do you deploy your macs with Deploy Studio? If so, does refind work with Deploy Studio or do you install it manually after deployment? Thanks.
  23. Hi All, Is there a way to hide, or password protect the recovery partition on our Macs? Our students use Bootcamp to choose between Windows and OSX, but having the recovery partition sitting there is tempting for some who like to experiment. We've had a few Macs that we've had to re-image because of this. Surely with the Recovery Partition being so potentially destructive there must be a way to prevent access to it? All I can find is the suggestion to set a Firmware password, but this also locks out the Windows Partition so is no use. Thanks for any suggestions.
  24. Hi All, Trying to fix an annoying problem on our network. Seems to have started since we moved to Smoothwall as our web filter and firewall. Every time a user logs in, Internet Explorer opens up, and goes straight to MSN. Having done some research on this, when a user logs in, the computer determines if it is on the internet by going to: http://www.msftncsi.com/ncsi.txt If it can't connect to it, it assumes you are behind some sort of portal so opens the default browser so you can log in. However, for us, the website above is not blocked and there is no portal. I think the problem is that Smoothwall is not authenticating the user quick enough so there is a short time where it can't access the site. Enough time for Windows to determine that is does not have a connection. This is backed up by the fact that there is an exclamation mark on the Network Icon that disappears after about 10 seconds following a logon. One solution is to Change the Value of EnableActiveProbing to 0 in the registry, but this appears to break Windows Apps, as they assume they have no internet connection without even trying if Active Probing is disabled. Anyone experiencing this delay before the machine determines it has internet access? Is it Smoothwall related? Thanks.
  25. Supposedly but doesn't seem to work when you have 2012 r2 VM on a 2016 Host. The Integration services reports a mismatch as per the screenshot in the first post, even with the host and VM completely up to date. I have noticed that 2016 VMs, on 2016 host do not report the mismatch. I'm not too worried as everything is working fine, but it just seems strange.
