I use Windows at Work, although when I was a telecomms engineer a couple of years back it was Linux throughout... Laptop and PC at work were Linux. Very rarely touched anything Windows back then. These days working for an IT Support company I find it easier to use Windows.... Its also easier when a client may call "Oh how do I do...." I can replicate it on screen with a few clicks of the Mouse. At Home my 2 Office PC's are Linux and Windows 8.1. I use the Linux machine if I want a website quickly or am just browsing the web - but any sort of client management / remote jobs is usually done on the Windows machine - I have Outlook setup on my Windows Office PC's too.

@DavePa - Had a similar setup with a local large college At the main site it was NetApp SAN and DotHills at remote locations, either connected via fiber to local sites or tails from ISP to sites outside of the city. We Deduped everything! I believe it was all done through the NetApp and Dothill software that was provided with the sans, we had Virtual Hosts so they were all replicated around the sites using vMotion, we backed up data etc using DeltaCopy (DeltaCopy - Rsync for Windows) that was the easiest solution for replication/backing up of data. We had a total of 40 Terabytes of storage for the college's data.

SRX's are excellent bits of kit - I have deployed those before. Very easy to manage and very nice to use and well built. The Juniper stuff is subscription based but, I dont think it increases.

Why not just get a new laptop for half the price of a MAC and use Linux.

We have it running on some watchguards, and a few old servers.

Hi everyone, I asked a while back if anyone has any spare Dell XT's to hand or the recovery/driver disc ? I have one here and for the life of me I cannot get the touch/tablet functions working. Its currently running Windows 7 - It came with 8 on it but the owner wanted that wiping so it went to win 7. Little to my knowledge - The install of NTrig stuff flashes the chip that runs touch/tablet features. Ive tried the rollback tool from NTrig but that just fails. Any advice greatly appreciated!!! More so if anyone has an XT! Thanks in advance everyone!

Lol maybe Im wrong then I thought if the engine was turning over fast enough you may be able to get enough charge to the battery if it has just dipped in charge. Maybe not.

If the engine can turnover quick enough it can get some charge into the battery - although optimal charge is when the engine is running. I suggested multimeter test as not every one has a drop tester and if its hitting 14 + volts at least you know you have a charge and the alternator is working.

If not get a new battery with higher amps... And if you've got a multimeter you can check how your current battery is doing. Check the voltage before you start the car (preferably on a cold morning) - it should be 14.5 but if its starting to be a weak battery it will be lower. Any lower and you know the engine isnt going to start - unless the alternator can get charge to the battery quick enough.

BM's are good cars mate, however for now Im sticking with my Picasso 2 Litre HDI. I had no chance of starting it when the battery became weak because of the cold weather! No chance at all!

Nope, its plain old and simple, its a weak battery. Take it back and if you can get one with more of a kick and higher amps. You wont have another problem with starting (not with the battery anyway).

Chances are the cold weather has weakened the battery - I have one in my boot. Battery is two years old but the cold weather has killed it. What you ought to do is when you have a new battery, start the car whip the battery off whilst its running and connect old battery to the car and let the alternator charge it, once charged take it off and put your new battery back on. Charge your old battery so you have at least got a spare charged battery. Albeit wont be anygood in the winter but you have a spare for when its warm. This cold weather can break weak batteries. Ive just paid 65 for a new battery for mine, Charged my old one just incase my new one decided do go iffy. It wont start it in the cold but at least I have A spare when the engine is warm. As above its not that the alternator isnt charging the battery or over charging its a case of weak cells in the battery and the battery isnt holding any charge, or very minimal. It certainly wont be a very good battery if you cant start a petrol engine with it and its charged.

Thats fine but on this occasion it will make things 10 times worse, hes got a duff battery for sure.

Actually the ECU doesnt matter if its cranking over fast itll still need fuel and the fuel pump will pump fuel through at a given pressure and the ECU will say ok give me enough fuel to start but unless the engines actually running the ECU wll not tell the fuel to stop flowing if the engine has not started... Carbs ? Is it not injection ? Which you would still flood - you should never try to start a car with throttle down - your making the engine work harder. Clutch depressed fully, Neutral engaged and turn your key... dont hold your key for too long if its not going to start as youll weaken the starter motor. Id almost guarantee you've got a dicky battery, but if you still have the receipt you may still have warranty on it.

Its probably the cold, it'll of killed the battery i've suffered the same thing in the past 3 weeks! Dont use throttle down trying to start ... youll flood the engine and itll take more work to start it - fuel pump will be pushing fuel through ti the engine and if the engine is only cranking it wont start and will choke.

If your having trouble starting always try and start with clutch dipped... you may need a bigger battery also one with a bigger kick. Aslong as the engine turns fast it should start but if it turns slowly itll just kill the battery. Dont use surestart if you can help it. Just incase anyone suggests it. BM engines dont like surestart. A good battery should last at least 3 years and turning the ignition on and off wont help at all unless you running a diesel.

+1 for zpanel. I have had it on corporate web servers which have been used for business websites. Easy - and looks just like CPanel. NB: Cpanel you have to pay for.
