Can you set up a temporary VPN and let them use Remote Desktop under a restricted admin account ? To be honest its not too much of a problem letting them in, managing hundreds of companies as we do we get these requests quite often from the likes of Sage etc. Its fairly safe to let them in, we set up an account for example called manager and put an expiration on the password to 24 hours. We give them install rights but thats about it. We temporarily open 3389 on the router and let them RDP in if we cant use TeamViewer or LogMeIn. Usually these companies use TV or Log Me In Quick Support.

I'd use PfSense and put the server on its own interface and set firewall rules on the LAN interface to not accept anything from that range set on the Interface card. Server will get access to Internet but wont be able t access anything internal

I presume you have a fiber internet connection, use PfSense. Its free.

What are u trying to protect in a home network ? Use PFSense as you would your router, What connection have you got ? PFsense has quite complex fire-walling compared to a BT Home Hub. I wouldnt recommend running it virtual. Set up a DMZ as @Steve21 mentioned above, otherwise your going to way over complicate things.

We had some clients that where hosting folders of say 40Gb+ - Sync'ing would just stop or hang. This would be the initial sync say copy from Fileserver to the Owncloud server. Clients who used the system from new and added their own files on to it where fine but copying any large directories from a server to owncloud it would hang or stop. Also had problem with long path/file names which is one of the problems with sync. Resillio Sync has been spot on.. Its faster too.

@mattstevenson2005 - We had owncloud and kept hitting limitations with it, file sizes and the overall Sync mass.... We have moved on to Resillio Sync instead.

Easy. Check out BitTorrnt Sync. You set up the folder on your server from a local drive, this generates a 'key' Read or Read/Write key. You send this key to the third party who also install the bittorrent sync client and add the key into the add share part of the client this key then gives them access to the content in which you are hosting, it is all encrypted. Hi all, I have a client in Europe. We are trying to change routers for the network which this client has set up, currently they are using a Cisco router. They have on Site a PBX. Trying to install a Draytek router, usual setup its on the same subnet as what everything else is configured as. The PBX has multiple interfaces on the same IP Range, Don't know why but thats how it was setup with the Phone Company. Put in a Draytek router and the PBX cannot be pinged on one of its interfaces which means no Audio on incoming calls. Put the Cisco back in place and all is well within the world, phone calls as you would expect. Heres the strange part, Draytek cannot and will not speak to the PBX on one of its interfaces as stated, Cisco back in place can ping every man and his dog, plug a PC into the PBX can talk to all Interfaces. UHHH Any Ideas why the Draytek has taken offence ? This is the 3rd different model of the Draytek we have sent to the client to test. Stuck. Draytek drawn a blank, Phone company have drawn a blank also. Thanks all.

Have you checked the connections into fiber patch panel haven come loose for Block A ? Break in the fiber maybe ?

Mines all under my stairs, its rather warm under there. Custom Built NAS which is on all of the time. Running FreeNAS. Also have my Fileserver running too, mainly used as storage for PC/Laptop images. Also runs Hyper-V for my Exchange server. I have a garage full of cases, bits of PC's bits of Servers, Bits of laptops, Spare monitors... cables galore!! Most of it needs to come to work to be disposed of.

To image the NAS itself or end user PC's / laptops ? What about FOG or similar ?

I still have the Acronis image here with about 5 million games on.
