  1. Is there any IT firms near you ? One of them might have an old CRT laying around. Maybe email a few local schools/colleges see if they have one kicking about. There is a local IT recycling place here they will have hundreds I wonder if you have a similar facility ?
  2. Hey, Yes I do often move a lot of things that don't often fit in Hatchbacks... And win 2 kids things can be a squeeze with prams bags etc. LOL
  3. Thing is im not doing moon miles. Im doing on average 30 miles a week. I do love a big petrol engine... Ive owned 3.0 V6 Jags etc. BUT - The Merc C220 2.1 is £50 a month on insurance. Thats gonna be pretty hard to beat. I get bills might be high on Audi, Merc, BMW, but I can and do undertake most work myself so that lowers labour bills. Parts are a little more expensive but not by much to best honest and if u get the right parts you only have the layout once maybe twice anyway (Clutch kits etc). I have seen several A6 2.4's. Will keep my eyes open - will also keep na eye out for a similar spec BMW with the right engine. Though I am feeling it's Merc time lol. Though Tax is higher on the C220 2.6 (Petrol). Would you all agree ?
  4. I can agree with that.. .also got A Merc C Class on my mind... 2.4 petrol manual or the 2.1 td simply because the 2.1 is cheaper tax.
  5. @strawberry - What does yours run like? My Main concern is I don't want a diesel that sounds like its going to fall out of the engine bay because it rattles that much. I dont think I've heard the 1.9 in an A6
  6. Thanks all I think to be honest if I cant find a decent 1.9 A6 Avant, I'm going to go for a petrol E46. Probs the 318i.
  7. Excellent thanks for the info, sounds like your a car buff such as myself which is good - don't seem to meet many in this industry. Definitely gonna look out for one hopefully sub £1k. Will let you know my findings.
  8. How can U tell which one its got ? by 6 I presume you mean straight 6 ?
  9. Ive pondered the saloon, my Jag was a saloon. But you can bet If I get a saloon I'll need an estate for something lol. whats it like to live with ? Fuel wise ?
  10. I'll keep my eyes open. Thanks for the advice, I think the E46 tourer is swaying me. 2.0 Manual looks a good beast.
  11. On which the E46 or the Audi ? I've found nice 88k tourer on ebay (E46) a few things flag up on last MOT though.
  12. About 2k. Not really a fan of golfs. Estate, Practical for me.
  13. Or do I go for an E46 tourer ?
  14. I do like the allroad though lol, to be honest I am gonna go with the standard Avant. Yours was on a 1998 you say.. perhaps the newer versions in the 2003-2005 are an under powered unit. Either way I want to go for a manaul - better on economy.
  15. I Know, I wouldnt buy one for economy - I was looking at an allroad. I hear stories of very little power delivery on the 2.5 and unreliable.
  16. I agree however I dont think they are the PD engine. Most of the 1.9's are rated at 130 BHP anyway. I just wanted to know what they are like to live with. Looks like im staying clear of the 2.5 - - - Updated - - - Thats fine, I understand that. I can undertake mos work anyway which lowers the costs. By a great deal.
  17. Hi Anyone got an Audi A6 Avant 2.5 Diesel in a Manual/Auto ? Looking at picking one up but have been told they are a bit of a dog in terms of power delivery and general reliability. The 1.9 is my next choice in a Manual - Looks to be a better unit - anyone got one ? Thanks in advance
  18. True, But I am fortunate. I have parts on Tap. Everything is imaged. If I have a main disk go down I can easily an rapidly deploy a new disk and restore the image and im back up and working. I'm not relying on an internet connection (I live in KC land) that will inevitably fail and files get missed or just don't upload. I know I have everything - everything is easily fixed. If the motherboard died in my storage server who cares ? I have plenty of spares ready to go in. I have way more to backup/sync so to me 1TB + online would be expensive especially as my Photos grow etc.
  19. I do what you do by using Resillio. (https://www.resilio.com/individuals/) AKA BitTorrent sync. Everything is on RAID arrays, I also have a share setup at my mums 120 miles away if the worst did happen I can just pull everything out of that folder. Being a photographer I have many many TB's of photos as u can imagine, paying for a cloud service would be costly. I also RSYNC everything to a server at work.
  20. Yep wish I had one of those!! That was from the RM SystemBase AX Range I think ? Or was that the with the green front ? either one is a great case. They dont make them like they used to.
  21. Ive seen it but I don't like it, it doesn't have the same sort of presence that my big white lad has.
  22. Yep as above, Backup server for the company. It's loaded with Icydocks with 6TB drives. What a case! It's running a Core i5. 16GB Ram. Haven't seen another case like. Apparently, it came form an old bank mainframe in the 90's
  23. Nice, I fitted one a few years back at an old property and wasnt that impressed. I went to fit a wired in my other old house and like you say I had specialist flooring in and couldnt get through. I had to find other routes in IE through Celings and walls all within conduit. Fitted extra sockets whilst at it. I fitted a full Texecom Premier Elite 48 system in my old home. Still have all the software to set it up and configure it. Compared to the wireless system it was more robust. However, some parts of the property I couldnt get to via cable so I used the Wireless Reed Switches (Door contacts). Vibration sensors on the windows where also wireless. I think you have to have the RF/Wireless Receiver module in the panel. I had one of the contacts on my back gate too as it was at the bottom of the garden it was always armed. Not for the faint hearted to fit, but would definitely recommend. There are some good wireless systems, although I've not had a look at the recent market.
  24. Why Wireless ? If you go for a fully wired Texecom system you can actually get Door Sensors (etc) which are wireless if you get the addons for the main panel. I wouldn't trust a fully wireless system.
  25. Why not just use Windows Server Backup ? You can recover individual files and folders with it.
