I have a Samsung Q1 Ultra.. It's got a SIM card slot but no modem, it requires a mini PCI-e modem like this Sierra Wireless - HSPA+ embedded wireless module At school we've got some Stone netbook that have a SIM card slot under the battery, but again, there's no modem. The RM Slate 100 looks a little small to have space for an additional modem to be fitted.

Casio Projectors won't last the distance
Chris_ replied to SimpleSi's topic in AV and Multimedia Related
We've got a couple of Epsons that have no/very short cool off time. They still take a while to turn on though and give a really poor image with some text unreadable. You still have to factor in things like the cost of replacement lamps for traditional projectors and the fact that they use more power than the Casios. -

Casio Projectors won't last the distance
Chris_ replied to SimpleSi's topic in AV and Multimedia Related
Sorry to hijack this thread but are you saying that you expect the Casio LED projectors to fail next year during the summer? -
I agree with this suggestion. We've got a few 5250DN's around the school. Great little printers. Handy to have duplex capabilities also.

We've got one of these trolleys with a projector in. The projector sits on the top shelf and slides out to give you access to the controls and whatnot on the projector. Also got holes in the top of the cabinet for VGA cables etc.. Sahara Presentation Systems > AV Cabinet

[windows software] Windows Server licensing utilization on VMware ESXi
Chris_ replied to albertwt's topic in Licensing Questions
Have a look at this calculator: WindowsServerCalculator Change the virtualisation technology used to be 3rd party bare metal hypervisor, add 2x VM's and then it says that you need 1 license of Server 2008 R2 Standard- 18 replies

Just installed IIS and PHP using the Microsoft Web Platform installer on my XP work PC. I got the same results. Everything returns timeout. Installed WAMP server and it seems to be working. Although it says that there is undefined variables on line 7 and 42 of index.php
-
I've given the site permission to run script executable permissions and still nothing. Might end up having to set up another physical server
-
Is there any specific IIS settings or permissions that need to be changed for this to work?

Intel modular server school in a box video
Chris_ replied to nicholab's topic in Thin Client and Virtual Machines
What supplier are you looking at for those costs? -
I'll try on on another server and see if I have better luck. Thanks for providing a useful little tool though
-
I get timeout when I use the IP address also. I am able to ping both the hostnames and IP addresses successfully from the server that I'm trying to run the server monitor on.
-
I'm having trouble getting this to work. I just get timeout for everything. I'm using IIS6 and PHP5.

Had a play with one of these today. It was running Windows 7 and performed quite well, would be interesting to see how they performed when built onto a CC4 network.

We've just been offered the Richmond SupportDesk for free with the £500 voucher thingy. I couldn't find much information out about it. Would be good if you could let us know how you get on with it.

Try installing the 64bit Activ driver: http://www.prometheanplanet.com/documents/uk-us/drivers/windows-7-xp-vista-64-bit-v5-5-37-4.exe You will need a USB A-B cable (USB printer cable) to connect from your laptop to the USB port on the wall. I haven't had a close look at the back of the Promethean amplifiers yet so I can't comment on that.

Upgrading on a shoestring budget - the refurbished route..?
Chris_ replied to dgsmith's topic in How do you do....it?
Has anybody had any refurbished computers from Stone? I heard that they are priced well and have good warranties, although I can't find much information about this. -
Upgrading on a shoestring budget - the refurbished route..?
Chris_ replied to dgsmith's topic in How do you do....it?
I have to say, the prices of the refurbished desktops on ICT Direct are pretty good. I just need to persuade the powers that be that we should buy some refurbished desktops ans they're better and cheaper than new ones they are buying! -
Thanks for the heads up on this! I logged onto our CC4 forest root to be welcomed by a Symantec popup about dummy.exe being quarantined. I shall have a look at creating an exclusion for this tomorrow.

I've been trying to get this working on a CC4 network but have been having issues with file restrictions and everything.

RM Printer Credit - Printer Issues
Chris_ replied to dpmarker's topic in Network and Classroom Management
Is this the network version (P2050dn) or just USB? If it's a local printer shared over the network you need to install the RM Local Printer package on the computer that the printer is connected to. -
All of our staff have laptops and some have desktops in their classrooms also. They all seem to just expect a laptop, and unfortunately most of the laptops are pretty new so replacing them all with desktops won't be happening for a year or two. A few members of staff leave them at school as they don't like to take school work home with them. Most of my issues are caused by staff laptops and not connecting to the network properly before logging on and rolling out updates is a pain to do before staff decide to turn their laptops off again .

Hi, We use Active Inspire at school and deploy it via CC4 however there's a couple of members of staff that use their own laptops and would like to use the boards also. Does anybody know where I can find the serial key within the package so that I can activate the software on the standalone laptops? Thanks.
