I was under the impression that the results of the tender were not for publication, beyond the names of the successful candidates. Someone might get into serious trouble for leaking that document.

Well, at last report they had stated that they would not be honouring any trade in or laalty cards. Nor would they be accepting refunds, pre-owned games or vouchers. Essentially its a buyer beware scenario if you decide to buy from any of the remaining open stores.

What did the signs say?

My main gripe with GW is their steadfast refusal to stock half of their game lines in the actual shops! Plus the absolute denial that they even have an RP line of games (ok they are published under license by someone else but they exist and are damn popular). That just screams loss of sales opportunity by cross matching products. But then again I remembed the heady days of yore when GW where a games Hobby shop and not a catalogue shop But it doesn't seem to have curbed their particular brand of plastic sprued success!

Apparently our development team have just informed me that there is another option with the "Hosted gateway" service (I thought this didn't work with SD, apparently it does). This sits in between your webfolder login prompt and the SIMS database and is hosted internally by us. This can be told to store information for one nominated register for a user(essentially your fire drill group), so you would still need to be online to use it but it wouldn't rely on your server being online for taking the fire drill.

The different implementations did certain things slightly differently. The SD product is restricted in some minor ways due to its need to interface with SIMS. HTTPS query answered by Achandler.

BROMCOM, it's BROMCOM.. Who are these Broadcom imposters Anyway, if anyone needs any additional info then just let me know. As I have said elsewhere, multiple times, WebFolder will basically run on pretty much anything that has a browser. So it will need a network connection for live updates etc. but in this modern age of ubiquitous WiFi how often do you honestly find yourself without a signal "and" still confronted with students to supervise.

PAS74:2008 Annex B was mentioned explicitly within the IMLS tender that has just gone through to completion. I suspect that this is the reason why you are starting to see it in affiliated documentation. If the DfE have adopted its use within the published tender processes tehn it would stand to reason that they would begin to include it elsewhere.

Throw me your details in PM and I will see what can be arranged. I don't want to get slapped by the mods by going all sales and marketing on here (ps. WebFolder was available before the GroupCall APP , not a dig or anything just something we are proud of).

BUt it DOES have an iPAD compatible web interface.. No need for an APP. Just for clarity and so I don't end up repeating mysself later.. WebFolder SD will run on pretty much any device that has a browser interface. The screen appearance differs slightly on certain devices (Mobiles retrieve the mobile interface) and the different method of data entry for the iPad (toch screen, no right click etc.) has required its own slightly modified interface also. But it does work on all of them (Windows, Android, iPxxx).. without the need of an App.

A friend of mine who I can only describe as an "Apple Fanboi" has already preordered his 64gb Wifi variant.

Don't have the links available or to hand but don't forget the final salvo coming from Becta about school ICT systems and the "legality" of auto renews of such contracts without resubmitting contracts to tender. They weren't just speaking about MIS Systems when they wrote their findings. So you may find significant weight of government "advice" in your court on this one also.

At the risk of ressurecting a pretty dead thread, but in the interest of complete responses We've dabbled in the foreign markets here and there, France, Australia, the U.S. It's very much like Vik says though as their are no fixed systems and that they are very different legislatively so the needs of the overseas education sector are significantly different than that of the UK market. So it does sort of lend itsself towards the small independent software supplier who has the agility to adjust the product to local requirements. This is also the reason you'll see the bigger companies supplying independent foreign schools, because they have the flexibility to adapt to the software rather than vice versa. That said however our MIS does have a very real overseas element. Anywhere that a Bromcom school has a field trip AND a browser capable device, they can and do register the kids. Does that count as a foothold in foreign climes?

Didn't hate it but then again didn't love it either. The initial joy of Whomm whomm lightsaber combat lost its patina after the first 2 weeks and while I may resub at some point I can't see myself bothering for the forseeable. Just not enough in the game to keep my attention, the Star Wars skin wasn't enough to make the same tired gamelplay feel new. Storyline was good though. Jedi Knight up to around level 30..

I'd need more details to give you a 100% accurate answer but off the top of my head I would say the most likely cause would be Out of Date version, as of build 17 all logins (MIS, WebFolder, WinFolder etc.) should be encrypted as a matter of routine. Contact me off list if you need to go into any further detail.

Any idea when (or IF) this will be available on a Virgin mobile deal? I have an upgrade due in February.

PVE all the way for me. I have always disliked PVP (and that goes way back when my twitch skills were on par and not dulled by the steady onslaught of years).. and I play these games to be entertained, not to be someone elses entertainment

@Glennda As Vikpaw said I'm more than happy to provide you with any info you need but, as a techie mysself, I don't want to enter into anything that could be construed as "marketing" on an open thread It gets things deleted don't ya know. make sure you have a paid for installation and employ an addiction counsellor for anyone with authorisation to play the game.

Our MIS has data item auditing, coupled with user capacity to draw out reports (rather than SQL drilling) of said audits which will include "Who made the change" "When was the change made" "What was it changed from " "What was it changed to" This is in addition to the web service audits available to the systems admin which also cover "Who accessed which pages and when" "Did anyone, of a given role, access an inordinate number of data items, suspicious activity" The audits cover most of the core data items, attendance, personnel details, student data etc. A full breakdown of auditted data items can be provided but I would rather do that via PM as more than the above may be construed as undue advertising.
