"SO" glad that WebFolder mobile is a web service and NOT an app! and to clarify why.. It's because I would not want to be the person in ANY company who has to deal with the headache that Apple's ToC's appear to be.

To be completely honest, in order for a living room console combo to work it needs to have gaming, and that is the one area that Apple still fail in. Domination of the home computer market by the PC was larely because of the vast range of leisure (read gaming) software in the market. You will still get funny looks from gamers if you suggest using a Mac (of any kind) to play games. This has always amazed me as, especially in the last decade, the games indeustry has become a bigger cash earner (according to various reports) than the movie industry.. and why wouldn't Apple want a piece of that? Maybe they'll partner up with one of the new stremaing game service providers?

Hi Waldronm2000, Have you reported this to the Helpdesk as there is very little that any other users could do to provide you with a solution? We have experienced this before and have put additional logic into the BroDIS import processes to deal with it. Essentially it was an early issue where the system could not react to getting NULL data responses. Day one - Student A exists in SIMS import runs and Student A is imported into Bromcom Day two - Student is "DELETED" from SIMS, not made a leaver but actually deleted. Nothing remains within the SIMS database to link this action with the student imported yesterday and as such the data in bromcom is now in place and static. Import runs, no data is returned for the system to react to for Student A. You can see the obvious problem in the above. As did our support team when they first encountered it, we expected that even erroneously entered students would remain as a data item, albeit one with identical start/end dates.. this does not turn out to always be the case. The support team should be able to remedy this problem with the latest software releases and will be able to work through the issue with you. Regards John

Best meat I have ever purchased.... A few year back we got ambitious for Xmas dinner and I arranged for a pretty large order of unusual meat from Harvey Nicholls. Chief amongst them was a Wild Boar joint to feed 8, THAT was a lovely bit of meat, I can only describe it as a cross between pork and beef! Slow roasted after having been marinaded in red wine for almost 24 hours... lovely. Bringing it back to local butchers though, ours has recently confirmed that they would be able to fill this requirement if we needed them to. Which is nice. Although I expect this year to be having a traditional Turkey or perhaps a 3 bird roast.

One of the lads on helpdesk just stated without pausing for thought "They are all lying." "Why?" we all asked. "They're women", he replied! Bad experience methinks BUt about 5 other people in house have all just agreed (independently) with my original logic.

If 1 is telling the truth then her and at least one other lady must be telling the truth. 2 cannot therefore be true as her statement contradicts 1 and 3 cannot therefore be true as her statement confirms 2 If 2 is telling the truth then 3's statement is false and thus undermines her own potential truthtelling If 3 is telling the truth then her statement is undermined by the statement of 2. Its unusual for one of these logic puzzles not to have at least 1 telling the truth so maybe I'm wrong

We always use our local butcher when we can. Mainly because the wife loves to get deals on quanitty and then pack the freezer out with meat.. lasts for months! They will usually do a good deal for things like "A whole lamb", cut up into bits of course. Or half a pig. We drew the line (and the Freezer would have bust!) at 1/4 of a cow, because that was TOO much meat still. That and the last time I was in there I heard words from the butchers mouth that I haven't heard in a shop for years. "and that'll be £X, £X-5 for cash"

In the meantime though I thought I'd query a couple of points.. 1 - Is it just your own attempts to retrieve a timetable that are failing or is the problem endemic? 2 - What is the exact version number of WinFolder you are using (check the help - about link which should show you a version) 3 - Are you able to successfully retrieve a register by requesting it directly rather than via a timetable request? The answers to these queries will still be useful to the helpdesk so it would be worthwhile answering them even if you do phone them first. Regards John

Direct access to Beh/Ach Incidents from the Staff Class Registers etc etc - MCAS and WebFolder, Check! and with the future in mind (Homework, Exams, Options etc etc) - Check (already in MCAS), check (next release of MCAS IIRC), check (also next release IIRC) and with access for Staff, Pupils, Parents (maybe even Governors!?) - Check, check, checkedy check. Just keeping the playing field level.

Hi all, Want to set a few things straight before any misunderstanding of the products become canon The SD products are exactly that SIMS DIRECT. All of the active SIMS data is retrieved from and then returned to the active SIMS Database. There is no data storage of any SIMS information on any secondary database. The mini database that comes along with the SD products is to enable the storage of certain software configuration items and user preference details. As for the use of API's, well under the OFT Voluntary assurance agreement we are supplied the same API components that Capita use themselves so there is no risk of them becoming obsolete unless Capita decide to completely rewrite everything from scratch and I think there would be some pretty serious lead time on any developments of that scale Hope that answers any queries being raised, and feel free to ask further if you need to.

But that is even changing a bit now with some of the new productions. Spartacus was only a dozen-ish episodes. The Walking Dead was under 10 (although tha may have been due to the MASSIVE budget for each episode) With so many shows competeing for the US production dollar it might just be the studios being a bit less willing to throw cash at them.

Assuming you were't utilising sarcasm (which is tough to detect on the web sometimes). He was actually voted in using an AV system (albeit only within the labour party membership). So he is a perfect example of how the system would work. If no-one has a clear majority in the first count then drop the lowest candidate and count their next choice, rinse and repeat till you get a clear majority.

I know you didn't mention fantasy in your list but, as you did mention war stories, I would heartily reccomend the "A song of Ice and Fire" series by George R R Martin. ALthough it is about to be broadcast as a tv series (next Monday if you have Sky) so you might want to watch it rather than read it

Not sure what you were demo'ed from our side or even who did the demo (I could do some detective work and find out) but I wanted to make sure that what you were shown covered all your options. Because it sounds to me like you would be able to get some benefit out of WebFolder SD product (SD = SIMS Direct). It's a web service so you'd be able to run it without linking your networks together (with a bit of a tweak). Anyway contact me off list and I'll double check that you were shown all the options, because to be honest that figure sounds a bit unusual for a quote from us for a school your size. Regards John

That is the 2010 figure as quoted in the DFE report, not the current figure. Phil is right though that our eRegistration product user figure is still significantly higher than our full MIS user base.
