Plus, if you want to, the service that drives "whichever" remote software the helpdesk are having to use to connect to your system (they have a selection) can be managed from your end. This means that prior to any remote support provision the technical support team will have to contact you to activate the service. They would be contacting you (the school) anyway to confirm authorisation to undertake any work on the system, so this sort of thing does not cause them any undue delays and if this would provide you with the additional peace of mind that you require.... just contact the helpdesk to let them know that you'd like a little more direct control and oversight on system access, they'll be more than happy to co-operate. oh and just so it's 100% clear, the remote access isn't a requirement for the operation of the software, just for the delivery of our remote support service. The rest of the world can, the American "audience" can't. Unfortunately most american remakes are made to fulfill teh extremely limited scope that the netowrks allow. So for the Inbetweeners it will be being remade (unless it's by HBO) for reasons of language (swearing), attitude and nudity (yes the fashion accident in THAT episode is probably enough). Remarkbly Conservative Nation the U, S of A. Plus their Nielsen's ratng system needs a serious overhaul.

Personally I find that you cannot beat a well cooked quality Rib-Eye steak. Accompanied with a selection of seasonal vegetables (new potatoes with mint, sugar snap peas etc) and with the sauce of her choice A fresh made peppercorn sauce is nice, but you would ned to fiddle around with making a roux, (butter n' flour) as the sauce base. BUt if you feel like a shortcut then most of the packet sauces are tolerable. Hell, anything is tolerable when it is accompanied by a quality cut of beef Plus this sort of meal really benefits with the restaurant style plating up.

As much as I "personally" dislike what is occurring with Windows 8, I have to admit that this is indeed a very exciting prospect.

Zag, have you even tried WebFolder mobile or WebFolder SD? I've tried the Emerge App alongsde our "old" web technology.. and at the time saw no appreciable difference. The iPad version, which IIRC is the one that "would" be used here, is the full featured product that is used for the desktop. A few tweaks were needed for removal of right click functions etc. but othersie its the same product. Please don't consign Web development to the annals of history.. Don't forget Windows 8 and HTML 5 are all about Web Development as "apps"... But, don't want to muddy FN's thread with arguments about the efficacy of various technology models ps. 3G being the operative term here.. Yes webFolder will allow you to do this. Single secure connection from our hosted server to the schools database. The remote device connects to teh hosted server, authenticates against the schools security and enables the remote retrieval and marking of the register. We've had schools use the system to continue taking registers whilst on field trips, furthest afield was a trip to Berlin IIRC. John

If you are taking the register on a phone then the WeFolder portal will provide the link to the schools data. So you're able to take the register wherever you can get a phone signal.

IIRC the coverage is only on the platforms and concourses. NOT on the trains themselves. I suspect that a alrge amount of confusion is going to arise from their own information using the term "on track" and people not realising that it isn't actually indicating "where" the service works..just the usual term for keeping a project on time Poor choice of words considering the subject matter.

Indeed, but don't forget that the list is actually of the age as well.. so there is very little strength of nostalgia behind it and I suspect that a number of games on that list where succeeding through being in the mind of the reviewer at that time. I loved The Sentinel but wouldn't have put Elite back at number 17.. Also where are the Wally series of adventure games. "Everyones a Wally" deserves a mention just for the Mike Berry penned theme tune on the B side of the cassette!

We are still waiting for them to upgrade the TIVO firmware to allow it to act as the media centre it should be. Currently the connectivity components that would enable it to media mine content from other devices connected to the same LAN isn't active. Something about the Virgin branded UI not having had the code written for it yet.. or something. I haven't actually asked VM about it in months so forget the technoschpiel the trained monkey on the phone reeled off. oh don't forget that it does enable you to record 3 programmes at once... as long as you are watching recorded content (not live tv) at the time. Otherwise its record 2 channels and watch a third. IIRC

Are you certain? The software authenticator produces an 8 digit code and the hardware authenticator (at least the version a colleague has) generates a 6 digit code.

It doesn't save you doing that.. you NEVER did that. Not before you had Facebook.
