  1. If when you say 'the electronics pack' you mean the small circuit board fixed on to rear of the board then they are replaceable in less than five minutes.

    XP or Vista

Silly question really... getting new admin pc’s to run sims, fms, office 2007 and the old OCR register reader over the holiday. Should I install XP or Vista?
  3. I'll be intrested in that as well.
  4. I'm sure the outbound port is open as there is a test connection button in blackberry manager and it reports the connection to blackberrys server is ok. But the inbound port... now that's a different matter, I'll have to ask EMBC to open it. Thanks for the replies.
  5. HT walked in today with a new Blackberry curve and asked me to set it so his emails and calendar are in sync. Thanks to Domino’s post above I downloaded the free Blackberry express software and installed it on the print/av/wsus server as I didn’t want the hassle of trashing the exchange box. Installing went ok even if a little long winded but I had a problem of assigning the Blackberry wirelessly so had to connect it to the server via USB, choosing the user in Blackberry Manager and assigning the device. This worked and his emails and calendar synced but now unless I use the USB cable the Blackberry is not talking to the server. I must have overlooked something but I’ve spent all afternoon on this and now I’m banging my head on the walls Any ideas?
  6. I see. Thanks.
  7. I see Microsoft sells Server 2008 with and without Hyper-V. What’s the difference between the two versions? Or am I just being thick

    AHCI and XP

Thanks to srochford's HP Business Support link I’ve got AHCI up and running and I agree with you there is a noticeable speed increase with AHCI enabled.
  12. Take a look at PaperCut. We use it and it works flawlessly.

    AHCI and XP

@srochford @geoff So I rebooted from the XP cd and pressed f6. Now it's asking for the drivers on a floppy disk which these machines don't have. @gshaw I might have to if I can't get AHCI working

    AHCI and XP

Just taken delivery of a load of HP machines. To clean off the crud I reinstalled XP but when I tried to boot from my XP cd or my UBCD I got a blue screen. I went into the BIOS and changed SATA emulation from AHCI to IDE and now booting from the XP cd works. I have reinstalled windows but now when I change the SATA emulation back to AHCI it just restarts partway through booting. I have installed the HP AHCI driver v8.7.0.1007 but still no luck. What am I doing wrong?
  16. Figured it out… I was reading the wrong instructions
  17. When mounting the NA664ET on the stand, which way should the CD face? I ask because in the photo above the CD faces left but in the stand instructions it says to mount with the CD up and rear ports facing down. Not sure if it matters which way it goes but what would you recommend?
  18. I've tried the stick in XP and Vista machine, tried Photorec and bending the stick but still no joy. Looks like the teacher will have a busy weekend!
  19. A teacher has given me her usb pen drive saying it’s faulty and despite me trying it on 3 different computers they all say usb device not recognized. Normally I would just tell the teacher to buy a new pen but this one has all of her reports on it and no backup so I am looking for any tools which might help?
  20. Now that's what I call a holiday
  21. Thanks for the advice but it's all just too much to remember and not worth the risk anyway .... I think I'm going to scrap the bloody thing
  22. I want to fade a series of pictures on a webpage. I currently use Flash for this but I am finding it very time consuming when I want to update the pictures. Unless there’s a quick way to change flash images I was thinking about using java script from CodeLifter.com - JavaScript Cross-Browser SlideShow Script with Image Cross-Fade Any recommendations for something better?
  23. A lamp has exploded in a Hitachi CP-S225 projector with all fragments of glass being contained in the lamp casing. Is it safe to swap the lamp in this situation or is the projector U/S?
  24. Our LEA charge schools £60 an hour so anything less is a bargain. Now £60 an hour might seem a lot but when you get a top man/woman who knows what they are doing then that's ok. The problem is when they send someone who knows less than you do and they start looking on Google to solve the problem... something you could have done
  25. Has anyone actually seen this take place as I can’t imagine a foreign equipment producer bothering to collect a load of scrap.
