I’m setting up anew Dell server and as I’ve never touched RAID before I need help. It will be running 2003 R2 Ok, the server is a PowerEdge 2900 5 X 146GB SAS HDD configured as RAID 5 with a hot spare HD. On the Dell system build screen its saying RAID level 5 and size 680GB. So that looks like the spare HD is running. Is that correct and do I need to change anything? What’s the recommended size of the boot partition? I was thinking 20GB.

Is there an .msi for installing truecrypt over the network?

I’m trying to copy two folders using Robocopy (version XP026) and keep the copied folder date stamp the same at original. The code I'm using is: robocopy.exe “z:\ghost images” “d:\ghost images” /E /COPYALL But I keep getting todays date.

Sylv3r, apart from the wow factor the main reason for looking at the plasma was for its small footprint as I didn’t want an IWB taking up valuable floor space. Prices for the larger plasmas/LCDs are quite shocking so I have also been looking at a projector plus screen and that is probably the way we will go.

I’m thinking about about installing a plasma screen instead of an Activboard in our new ICT suite and I was wondering what size plasmas other people are fitting in ICT rooms?

I know backing up to NAS has been covered many times recently but I thought I’ll get your opinions on this situation which happened to us recently. For the past 11 months we have used a Lacie 1TB NAS drive which the servers back up to every weekday evening. This situation has worked very well till the NAS died last month. The problem was diagnosed to a faulty PSU so I didn’t need to return the NAS drive itself only the PSU. But what if I DID need to return the NAS drive… with all that data on it the consequences doesn’t bear thinking about . What are other doing about securing data on their NAS drives?

Been having problems with the Secure Data Transfer System that’s used to download CTF files and such like. The problem is that staff don’t realise that when they see a gold bar appear at the top of IE they need to click it to download the file. I was handed a paper today that they printed from teachernet that explained how to turn off the file prompting but as it’s a security feature I’m reluctant to do that. I’ve added the address https://securedatatransfer.teachernet.gov.uk to the trusted sites list but the file prompting continues. What else can I do?

@richardharris: thanks for the recommendation but looking at the specs on Miscos website I can’t see anything about load balancing. Are you sure it can do that?

HT is thinking about fitting an ICT suite out with 30 laptops . Just to get an idea of costs I’m assuming that 2 APs would be needed to split the load and I’m I right in thinking that said AP’s would need to be quality types so load splitting could be accomplished? Any recommendations on the models needed?

I tried everything to get MX2004 running but it refused to work so I installed Dreamweaver CS3 and that didn’t work either! Searching I found a reference to a piece of software installed on Acer laptops which has caused problems before so after removing it (I can’t remember it’s name but it’s something to do with securing drives) MX 2004 and CS3 both worked fine.

I’ve had SSL-Explorer working well for over 6 months now but today when I went use it, it would not accept connections and all I’m getting now is the requested URL could not be retrieved message. In services, SSL-Explorer is stopped and only runs for a minute before stopping again. Where do I start with this? I’ve got a backup from the program files folder so could that be copied over?

What software is best for backing-up a home premium laptop to an external hd. Synctoy or backup and restore centre? Is there any other free software that I should consider?
