  1. AFAIK even with the admin creds I couldn’t alter the student names. Perhaps there is a way but it wasn’t immediately obvious. On the 2nd bullet point the IP address was an internal address but more importantly the time was over 6 hours after the incident was spotted so really shouldn’t have been included in the evidence. Some people may not have looked closely at the time or IP address and been fobbed of by this.
  2. Would you believe it. I have two threads running with similar titles and I posted my reply in the the wrong thread. I am not saying it was a hacker of the type we are used to hearing about but more of a mischievous person who should know better and had this happened to another school I would be saying the same as you are anyway I had an update from parentpay. I was on leave yesterday but saw it on my phone but as the screenshot of the logs were too small to read I waited until I was back in today to go any further with it. So they have sent screenshots of the logs and say it was a member of staff who made the changes only the member of staff who they have identified is the office manager and I don't think for one moment that is true. Not only that on the logs at the time in question is after the incident occurred. I'll paste their email and my reply but have to remove the screenshots of the logs and staff name. I had another email this morning saying the case has been resolved.
  3. Yes but we still have the photo as evidence!
  4. It was only the class teacher who is also the assistant head and the family support officer in the room. It was around 8:45 when it was found so students were still coming in and I think it’s more likely the refresh from SIMS cleared the corruption. ParentPay are being very slow with their updates and although I have asked to be given the contact details of their technical team so I can ask directly the info is not forthcoming, that alone makes me suspicious. Someone said they are waiting for it to blow over, perhaps they are right.
  5. Cypad is web based but this is a primary so none of the students here could do that. It was viewed on the teachers machine and the teachers class is foundation so I’m sure that age students couldn’t do it
  6. No teachers or admin cannot edit the cypad data is taken directly from sims which is why the name changes had disappeared when I looked because a sims to cypad had taken place over writing any changes
  7. Sorry for the title it's not clickbait! Please read to the end. So further to by post below that didn't really get much traction I thought I would start a new thread and post it here so it has a wider audience. Firstly to recap, the school uses Cypad where the teacher marks the dinner registers. Cypad gets the school student list from SIMS and is synced on a regular basis. On January 27th a teacher reported the dinner register for her class has had the names changed but by the time I looked all was well and nothing out of place. The teacher then said they had taken a photo of the screen and on inspection some of the names had indeed been changed to rude or offence names. I immediately reported this to Parentpay and the asked for an update the next day and was told it has been escalated to the technical team. After not hearing anymore I asked for an update again on February 2nd but didn't get a reply until February 11th and then it took another email to remind them I was waiting for an update. The reply said the technical team are still investigating. As we are dealing with names of students I cannot show the photo but the names had been changed so someone who might be called Jane Smith was changed to Diarrhea Jane or someone who might be Mohamed was changed also but I better not go into that any further. I contacted our SIMS support people who investigated if SIMS had been changed which it had not so they opened a case with Parentpay only to be told as the data is correct in SIMS the changes didn't come from SIMS and to contact Cypad! Cypad users cannot changed the data it uses on the dinner registers so where else could it have been changed?
  8. I leave all that to the office who collect the data and the teachers who do the posting.
  9. We have added the parents to tapestry and so far parent engagement has been good. Adding parents to tapestry is the easy bit, linking the parents to the child takes time when it needs to be done one parent at a time and selecting the child from a dropdown. Still it only needs to be done once but I will have the joy in September of removing the leavers and adding the new intake. Thanks for all the input. The HT is trialling tapestry until the summer and may keep it or try something else.
  10. It has been suggested to use Tapestry so it can be private and as Tapestry is already used for foundation in the school it will be no extra cost. I'm not convinced this will work but one of todays jobs is to look at how parents can be added on mass.
  11. Never heard of Bluesky but it does look like a clone of X 😀
  12. Yes your right of course but that would rule out 90% of our machines
  13. I think it was the bad rap X got last month. I think photos are the main reason but of course there will be times when it will just be text. X fits the bill perfectly but the HT said X is out of the question.
  14. Primary here. We used to use X which worked well and every teacher and most TAs had an account posting photos of what was happening in the class but now we are looking for a new social media platform. It needs to be easy and preferably free so was wondering what others use now that schools are moving away from X?
  15. We have a number of the HP 250 G5 laptops which are still running 1809 LTSC but for a test I imaged one with win 11 24H2 then as part of the process installed 25H2. Everything is working fine.
  16. We are a primary and had them in last week and they didn't ask me anything and the HT said they didn't ask any IT questions to him either.
  17. Been looking at changing broadband suppliers to something more modern as currently have 70Mbps with Plusnet. Plusnet have fine no problems at all but just need something faster and as my contract is ending makes sense to move before signing up again. After reading reviews and comparing prices Toob is my favourite but I understand Toob offer £25 to new customers and the referrer if I enter their referrer code when signing up so does anyone what to share their referrer code and get £25 for the privilege?
  18. This is all very well for colleges and FE but how are the small primaries going to cope with the new standards? I mean most primaries I know only have a tech never mind a NM and it’s not really in the techs JD to sort this out.
  19. Thanks. Ran this earlier it works great.
  20. How about using GP and set it to run at logoff, that way the PC will be ready for the next user.
  21. Each teacher here has a X account and it's very well used but last night the HT sent out an email saying everyone must delete their accounts.
  22. Still using MDT here and just started imaging a new batch of laptops and noticed the Xbox app is still there plus a bunch of other apps when they should have been removed as part of the task sequence. Looking at the debloat script it dates back from 2016 so not surprised it didn't work. Could someone kindly share their debloat script please 🙂
  23. With the help of @tom_newton the mystery page has been found and with hindsight it was on all the pages in the cookie control module. Clicking the star opens a flyout with the link to the mystery page. As we do not have access to the module I have asked Webanywhere to fix it. Thanks to all who have helped.
  24. There are many reports of problems with this update but that said I installed it yesterday on a test machine and it was fine.
  25. Wget is complaining because the site is SSL and it cannot read it. Google search says I need to compile the source using a library so I'll put that on hold. Could be so I've emailed Webanywhere support to ask but normally don't like to give up without a fight but needs must.
