Moved away from Barracuda to Keepit this summer. Very impressed and interface is much smoother. Got mine from Phonenix Software. -

Radius Authentication (NPS) and Cambium Just Stopped Working

I'm having similar issues with a Server 2025 NPS. Now thinking it might be a recent update? Will let you know if I find anything or indeed if you find a solution, please share. Thanks -
Compliance and Operation management

I’ve been looking at similar products. Take a look at Iam Compliant. Looks really powerful and cost effective. https://www.iamcompliant.com -
Just in case anyone else needs it. "Applicaa Enrolment App Installer Ver. 1.0.0.0.exe" /exenoui /qn APPDIR="D:\Test"

I have... It's been escalated and waiting for another update. Just thought I would ask the community in case someone else had solved it.

I've been asked to take a look at the Applicaa Enrolment App in preparation for summer. It's not something that we've previously used. Just wondering if anyone has managed to get this to install silently and wouldn't mind share the commands used? It's currently only available as an .exe only and doesn't support the normal commands. I've managed to extract the MSI but gets stuck as it's designed to only be called by the bootstrapper .exe . Many thanks

BYOD/Boarding schools/Calling home
andyfield replied to klssandman76's topic in Internet Related/Filtering/Firewall
We have a managed virtual firewall set on independent hardware. We operate complete VLAN segmentation so it's not going anywhere as it governs traffic across the entire network and not just at the edge. When you look at the requirements from the DFE around offsite filtering (which is achievable with Fortigate) but mainly with DSL's having access to look at logs, monitoring etc I feel it doesn't meet them. Lightspeed will solve all of this for me especially as we are a BYOD school. To me their solution gives me the best support to protect boarders etc whilst allowing easy access and monitoring to DSL's. If we move to a 1:1 rollout they also allow parental access to device logs which could fit really into a boarding environment. From a technical perspective I love the Fortigate just feel they are trying to play catchup within Education. Having spoken to them directly they are also relying on a member of staff working in their own time for a set of reports to import into Fortianalyzer. This revelation was a little scary to discover! -
BYOD/Boarding schools/Calling home
andyfield replied to klssandman76's topic in Internet Related/Filtering/Firewall
We have filters for both web and application. These are both scheduled in the same policy which is matched against a group of users. Although we are moving to Lightspeed in the summer so will have to see what I can then achieve. Either way under the boarding standards it’s important to give them more access. -
I spoke ESS at Bett and was fortunate to speak to the product manager for SIMS Next Gen. She made it quite clear that it will be 6 years before they are in a position to replace SIMS.Net into the cloud. That's rather a long journey! During this time they will also remove things like InTouch in favour of SchoolComms resulting in not only a long journey but potentially a bumpy one! Currently looking at the market and likely to move to Bromcom given our own complexities our options are limited.

BYOD/Boarding schools/Calling home
andyfield replied to klssandman76's topic in Internet Related/Filtering/Firewall
Depends on what you are using for filtering. Our Fortigate allows us to control things at the application layer which allows us to be more flexible. Under the boarding standards there is a clause that defines the internet for "social purposes" so we relax our filtering slightly in the evening for boarders only. We then allow certain social network sites subject to age and currently allow Whatsapp (including calls) etc. -
RMM Solutions - NinjaRMM, ManageEngine?
andyfield replied to TJ7's topic in Network and Classroom Management
Interested to hear people's views on what works for them. Moving more and more devices to the cloud removes the ability to perform certain tasks the "traditional" way. Combined with tighter controls around cyber security, including patching of not only the OS but third-party software. Cost is always a factor and has always prevented anything like this in the past however, the requirement for tools like this is ever increasing! I've been researching several so welcome any positives and negatives. -
Paxton changed this a while back. They no longer include it in the download and you have to be a registered partner to get it. Salamandersoft should be able to access it as they registered for it when I raised it with them.

Latest Update from SBB - Third certificate to deploy! URGENT UPDATE - 16/5/33 Good Evening All, We can only apologise but unfortunately, we have had to reissue the replacement Netsweeper certificate due to issues getting unmanaged Apple iOS devices to trust the new certificate. It seems like Apple don’t allow users to trust certificates over a certain validity period, we deliberately set the validity period to 10 years to reduce work in the future but have had to reduce it to 5 years to get the certificate to deploy. With the Netsweeper platform, we can only have a single certificate at any one time so with the number of schools using Apple products we took the difficult decision to reissue the certificate. As you may have already done the work required (multiple times) we want to apologise and stress that we are looking at solutions for the future where each customer/MAT will be able to share their certificate. The certificate has been replaced at the original link for you to download again, https://hub.talk-straight.com/dl.php?type=d&id=135 As before, this work will need to be completed before Tuesday 24th May 2022. If there is anything we can do to help please let us know. Thanks, Talk Straight Technical Department

Snipe-IT - setup issues with database permissions
andyfield replied to Bev's topic in Enterprise Software
You can define the port number in your .env file DB_CONNECTION=mysql DB_HOST=*.*.*.* DB_PORT=3307 -
We've just looked at the market and we are now planning on moving to Access Finance. (https://www.theaccessgroup.com/en-gb/education/software/school-finance/) Works out slightly more than FMS but can now go completely paperless as it's all web based. One less thing to update!

I've just updated my policy definitions to the latest version... https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/confirmation.aspx?id=103667 I also added an entry to the "Settings Page Visibility" to "showonly:about". When I tested it both control panel and settings were blocked... Not sure if this setting is required but hopefully if it allows it again in the future this might limit any potential damage!

I've already spoken to them and had a webinar with their new CEO included... They all confirmed that a 3 year minimum contract length is required... Guess they are trying to keep some guaranteed income to assist with future developments. Apparently the new developments are coming as soon as early 2022 but when I asked what they were.... silence...

Ap's have 2 radios in them.. Set one to AC which operates in 5Ghz , left mine at channel 36 in a 80Mhz band. The other radio is configured for BGN which is 2.4Ghz. This is on channel 1 with the 40Mhz extension above. My laptops normally connect quite fast but then I'm lucky to have plenty of AP's

Just so you know the MC3200 controller goes end of life 15/11/2023... I've currently using it with over 100AP's and don't have an issue... You should be able to use the 40Mhz extension without any issues to improve speed at 2.4Ghz...

We've got the 14" versions and have given up with hdmi to VGA adaptors as even the Lenovo one didn't work on most of our projectors. Purchased a usb-c to VGA and works a treat
