  1. Hello, Does Adobe have something like wsus from microsoft to centrally control updates for all it's products? It would be really usefull to have! I've had a bit of a search and cant find anything.
  2. Thanks Exos, Thats a shame it doesnt offer much for students and staff. I've already set up alerts on the management, which will be handy from an admin side. I'll take a look at the additional products on the smart website and see if any of them look good and usefull.
  3. This is not new equipment. Had smart boards and projector for quite a long time. The projector its self has never been connected to network however. I've already seen and read parts of that manual and am aware that the web management is for that...management. Like i said though...thats rather boring! I'm more asking what are the advantages of having the projector on the network for a teacher/student? What new exciting stuff can they do? are you using yours on the network? If yes, do you find any of the network features are helpful to them? I've seen that smartboard have some more software products and i'm going to take a look at them. Just wondering what you guys are doing with your smart projectors that are on the network. thanks!
  4. Hi, I've got a Smart UF55w that’s on the network. What 'cool' stuff can I do with this? I can access the web management page and do stuff, but that’s all rather boring! Can I output to the projector over the network? I tried using the 'Connect to network projector' in windows 7 but it couldn’t connect. Is there any fun stuff I can do with this now it's on the network..?
  5. Maybe try a gpupdate /force on the machine as well?
  6. thanks andy, not had time today to try this yet. As soon as i get chance i will, thanks again.
  7. Some of the computers ( Seems to be a specific model laptop ) are having problems accessing hotmail to check emails The problem is shown in the attached image It goes like this 1) User logs into hotmail (With remember username ticked), checks mails 2) User closes IE8 3) User opens IE8, navigates to hotmail but hotmail loads and freezes like on the attached image. This problem can be fixed by deleting the tempeory internet files, however this has to be done every time which is an annoyance. Here are the steps i've tried to fix the problem 1) Tried on a different model computer and it works fine (Not ISP blocking) 2) Tried with full admin rights to ensure nothing is getting blocked 3) Reinstalled IE8 and problem still exists 4) Installed FireFox and problem is FIXED. We dont want to be using firefox though 5) Tried messing with the internet explorer security settings and problem still exists. To me it seems to be a problem with IE8, but what? Has anyone came across this before and can give me some ideas of what to try next? thanks very much

What problems are you experiencing? I use windows 7 and so far i've not came across any problems with the program being flakey
  9. Thanks Andy, Thats the same as i've been trying [DriveLetters10] DeviceType=MSCR Letters=G,H I restart the service and insert the card, but it gets mapped as F: This is on a laptop, not that it should make any difference.
  10. Does anyone have experience with this? It seems like it should be easy to do... however i've spent a good amount of time on it now and reading through the help file provided with no success. Simply, i want the intergrated card reader that reads sd,xd and more to be assigned to drive U: for example What do i put in the ini configuartion for this to work? My usb drives map perfectly to the assigned letters in the .ini, I just cant get the card reader to map to a set letter. I'm sure this must be simple and i'm being daft..if anyone can help please! thanks very much.
  11. Have different 'purses' set on the account, so when you got to top up you have your purse options, printing, canteen, etc etc. Stops money being spent on the canteen if it's for printing. Using pcounter here.
  12. Thanks all, WOL works great.
  13. Thanks, I'm aware of some bios's having the option. I was hoping there might be a way of scheduling a power on using software/hardware if the computer in question doesn't have this bios option.
  14. Thanks all, Sted and Jamo. I thought wake on lan was the name of the option that some get in the bios? Is that correct? Is it still possible to achieve this even if I don’t have the wake on lan option in the bios? AngryTechnician, I like your idea. I presume since this is part of windows I won’t need anything special to achieve this? (Apart from setting the schedule) I may use this if I can’t find a way of power on completely via a schedule. Edit Sorry forgot to say. Yes Jamo. The client is on the network that runs server 2008 R2 and the client it's self is running windows 7 enterprise
  15. Hi, I wasn’t to sure where to put this topic, so it ended up here. Please move Mod if you feel it's in the wrong place. To the question. I would like to turn a computer on via a schedule, like a scheduled task shutdown. I know on some motherboard there’s an option in the bios to do this. If the bios doesn’t have this option is there any other way I can go about doing this? I can’t give any details on the computer at present, hopefully next week I can. I'm quite certain the bios won’t have the power on option and that’s why I’m asking if there are any alternatives. thanks in advanced.
  16. Lucky you! I don’t have any wife’s or kids to sell to fund one of these! On a different website I read that the thunderbolt technology will be using copper cables for the start and then upgraded to optical to make it even faster. Not sure is this is correct?
  17. This thunderbolt technology looks good and promising.... as for the new macs... all i can do is laugh at the prices. Hey, atleast they look pretty..
  18. Still looking for a way to do this. I resorted to uninstalling office and making the laptop use wordpad ( it's for a exam ) would like to keep office and find a way to do this however.
  19. Thanks Draogonrider. I tested both. Authorpoint works, however i'm not kean on it because of all the extra menus and features it adds. I was more hoping for a simple flash file only showing what was on my power point and play through the slides with the animations included. Ispring... doesnt seem to be working for me. I've installed but i dont get the ispring option in power point. I'm using windows 7 and tried on power point 2007 and 2010, any idea why it's not working?
  20. I also suggest Polar. They can give you data on all sorts of stuff..
  21. Got HP Probooks here. Only had them for a short time, however they seem good and had no problems so far. Only thing you have to watch out for is the touch sensitive wireless on/off switch. Staff and students like to come to you saying that the 'internet is broken' when all they've done is press that button.
  22. Hi, Anyone had any luck disabling spell check on Office 2010? I've done a search and read the threads on the forums, however they all seem to be for older versions (2007, 2003) so the solutions aren’t working for me. I thought it would be a simple rename of msspell3.dll and setting permissions..... I can’t even find msspell3.dll in C:/programe files/common files/microsoft/proof I’ve tried setting deny access to the proofing folder, but when I do this it gives an error message when the group the deny permission are applied for when opening word etc. Anyone got any ideas? All help is much appreciated.
  23. All staff and students are required to have ID badges with them at all times here ( Staff mostly wear and students keep in pocket or bag ) Our ID badges are also used for entry into the building, printing, catering and for exam ID for students.
  24. Hi, Does anyone know some free software for converting power point files to flash? I would like the conversion to keep all the animation effects, not make static images. I've tested one called ispring that does this, however it's pricey and I’m hoping there’s a free tool out there that can do it for me. (Maybe I’m too hopeful) Any help is much appreciated. Thanks!
