    My concern with the advantage business is staff accessing sensitive stuff on personal devices - how do you manage this (with regards to OneDrive and syncing etc.)?

    Linux would be a whole new world...! So, for the VM idea...literally a VM on their local machine, and let them loose?

    So...how do you allow it? We have a group of 8, they want to practice Apache/PHP/SQL and whatnot...not my area of expertise... Do I need a test lab/server/clients etc...? Or is there another way?

    According to this forum, Microsoft say the tile cannot be removed. It is recommended that we leave some feedback if we are affected by this issue! I think it's important for education customers to have the ability to take control of this feature.

    We're in the early stages of getting to use O365. Lots of things to work out, including teacher dashboard, which could be a game changer with regards to cloud education as far as we're concerned. I'd be keen to network with other schools who actively use O365... http://www.teacherdashboard365.com/ I recommend taking a look - I've not got much further than installing it yet, but I will!

    At the moment, we don't want to use Yammer in Office 365. But, they've gone and added the tile to the Waffle for everyone... Does anyone know... 1. Can I remove this or any tile from the app launcher? 2. Can I disable Yammer for my tenant until we're ready? Thank you in advance!

    Yes, but even without this, it is all too easy to install the OneDrive for Business app and automatically sync their files... I know this should eb controlled with policy, but I wondered if anyone else had considered it...

    If staff start installing Office Pro Plus on their devices, they'll potentially be syncing data on personal devices using OneDrive...thus losing control... Can we take control of this? What do we think?

    Good day to you! I have a two-fold question, which may or may not be a silly one... We're gonna buy a wireless presenter (like this one) for every teacher (or for those who don't already have one) ...so, I was wondering... 1) Are they unique...I mean, what is the chance that neighboring devices could interfere and control one another's Presentations..? 2) How much would they interfere with the 2.4GHz WiFi...is it not worrying about, or is there potential for some conflict? Thank you clever people

    Good morning to you all! We're just beginning to explore how we can use Office 365 to enhance T&L (we currently just use email for students) and I was wondering if there were any schools out there (not too far away from Cambridgeshire preferably) who would be willing to have a visitor for an hour or two, to talk through your experiences and demonstrate exactly what it can do in the classroom...? I do also have Google Apps in the back of my mind, so the same applies with that too... I look forward to hearing from you :-) Thank you muchly

    Thanks for your thoughts. I will be looking into upgrading to 2012, but not just yet! In the meantime, I adjusted the associated XML file and gave the VM 8 virtual cores. Seems to be working brilliantly! Tara a bit!

    Ok, I'm trying to get my head around this and Google is no help whatsoever! Some IT people have forgotten how to speak English, I swear! I wonder if someone out there in EduGeekLand can help me... We currently have a physical server for our MIS (which shall remain nameless) but we also run a hyper-v server farm; four hosts, each with 2x quad core processors and 64GB of memory. The hypervisor is hyper-v... The MIS is performing woefully bad, and we need to give it more...well, more! (It has been suggested that we should have 16 cores and 16GB of memory... what am I running here? A weather centre?) Now, the physical server has 1 quad core processor, which obviously runs as 8 logical processors. I wanted to run a VM with more power than the physical server. I can give it a boat load of memory, but I can only assign 4 virtual processors to it. The solution has been suggested, therefore, that we throw more power at the physical server - but I am unconvinced that this is the best thing to do... feels like we're taking a step backwards. Are virtual processors the same as physical or logical cores, or does Hyper-V allocate it differently? Is a VM with 4 virtual cores likely to be more powerful if it is running on one of my uber-hosts, or not? Is it possible to allocate more than 4 cores or is that unecessary? You understand my confusion. I'm a simple being - please be gentle with me! Thanks in advance...

    Our RM support contract has lapsed and I am in the process of gradually replacing and removing various RM services. The latest one to hit the fan is LST (CC3) - I can't do anything with it as I get an error (RLN didn't accept the instruction...) when I try and change the schedule... So I want to uninstall it to stop all the schedules from running... Can anyone tell me how I go about uninstalling LST? It doesn't seem to be as easy as Add/Remove Programs... Many thanks in advance

    Sorry to jump on this thread, but I have a security question related to this... We have 2 VLans currently, as described, which has worked well with regards to security of the MIS etc. However, this is about to change and I am wondering whether anyone knows how I can protect our Bromcom MIS (Web based) from would be student hackers? I know I can enforce password policies, but I was hoping not to even give them the chance to see the log in page... Any thoughts anyone - your help is appreciated!

    Same here just now - offered HMV vouchers - "What's your home address, sir?" How I stopped myself from saying "S*d off, I don't know!" He spoke very quickly, told me he was going to send me an extra long life cartridge for £200, and asked if the invoice should be made out in my name! Errrr....no! Said he would call back after the brochure arrives - and presumably the vouchers...can't wait. I need some new DVDs...
