Personally that feels out of my remit. A few of our schools have terrible signal indoors - and we just accept it.

NEW Guidance about publishing photographs of children online - (UKSIC) Schools rightly want to celebrate the achievements of their pupils, and photographs are a natural part of that. But new guidance from the UK Safer Internet Centre sets out why that instinct now needs to be balanced carefully against an emerging safeguarding risk. The guidance follows a confirmed incident, reported to the Internet Watch Foundation by UK police, in which criminals harvested photographs from a secondary school's website, used AI tools to turn them into child sexual abuse material, and demanded money from the school with the threat of wider distribution. Incidents of this kind are not yet widespread, but the working group behind the guidance is clear that it is only a matter of time before more schools are targeted. The practical steps are straightforward: avoid face-on, identifiable photographs, never pair names with images, remove EXIF metadata before uploading, and publish only low-resolution versions. Existing content on your website and social media is worth reviewing too. The question is not whether to celebrate pupils, but how to do so without creating unnecessary risk. The full guidance, including a checklist of actions, is available here: https://saferinternet.org.uk/guide-and-resource/image-guidance-for-education-settings

Copilot changes from April 15th 2026
andy_b replied to ITGuyNW's topic in AI in Education & Enterprise
1213 Total Users and we get Copilot Chat (Basic).... Must be basing it on the available licences rather than Total Users... -
DNS ad blocking won't work - they are "served" from the same domain as the actual videos. Needs to be uBlock or some other Browser add-on.

Similar reponse to our formal complant: also took a number of emails for this clarification and they never really took reponsibility for the huge amount of un-necessary data they tried to aquire via Wonde. -
School Wi-Fi Upgrade – Seeking Advice on UniFi Deployment
andy_b replied to leewakelam's topic in Wireless Networks
I would love the DfE to come in and say we have to sack staff to ensure we have WiFi 6. I see the document as aspirational - I would like to tick all the boxes, but realistically it is never going to happen. There is no subtlety in the document a 2,000 place mainstream secondary school is a very different beast to a 55 place SEMH school, and they both have different needs and budgetary constraints. -

Yup, they want you to totally remove it.

We got Redstor Education via Converge (Stone) and it works out very competitive for our low population schools.

I would cable it all to the docking station and use native windows setting (will likely need clear instructions):

Papercut Mobility Print on Chromebooks - Granular access
andy_b replied to synaesthesia's topic in Enterprise Software
You could probably use papercut scripting to achieve to this. I don't think it can be interactive, so you'll need to send an email informing user rather than a popup. -

Impressed you got an SQL Backup out of them.
