Agree with the sentiment that most people these days run the laptops into the ground and are therefore more trouble than its worth. Much better to go the refurb route. For mid £200's you can get a perfectly resonable laptop that will last many years and can run Windows 11. Failing that, refurb Chromebooks are dirt cheap if that is your preference.

Finding accomodation might be tricky. I think many Hotels don't allow under 18's without a parent / guardian. If you were to go down that route, something like YHA Hostel might be better.

Synergy was good when I last used it (a while ago). Barrier is a free fork of Synergy before it went paid https://github.com/debauchee/barrier (but not updated in a while. ShareMouse is another that comes recommended (not personally used).
