We are in the same boat and the Raspberry P'is haven't been used yet. So far we have taken children out in groups to work in the corridor with a monitor, power leads and spare keyboards and mice. But our computer suite monitors are DVI so they could be used if they wanted to use them all in one go in the classroom.

We have that here too Max. I did a bit of digging online here and found that its Microsoft's fault not RM's - the delay before the metro start screen loads is just where startup programs kick in. Thought it seems to be better for us on Win8.1 than it was on Win8.

Yes a papercut engineer from Sharp has visited, switched us to OSA3 and tweaked some settngs. He confirmed what I have already tried was what he would have done too. Hes now escalated the call.

The issue is still occurring... •Computers are unable to print to the photocopiers Jobs queue and exclamation mark over the printer icon. •Users cannot log in to the photocopier. •Device has to be turned off and back on again in order for people to use it again. •it seems to go offline overnight. Users turn it off and on in the morning to use it. The situation has changed slightly as a result of the OSA3 now being used. We are no longer seeing the error "Unable to access the accounting server" Retry?

Hi Matthew, When we did ping tests they were constant. No ping issues at all. I have arranged to do the Version 14 update with PaperCut and I have asked Sharp about upgrading to OSA3. I cant find the SNMP settings anywhere but I have found the Energy saving settings and they are set to: (checked) Auto Power Shutoff (checked) after job is finished enter auto power shutoff (checked) Auto Power Shutoff after 11mins

No I am trying to stop the photocopiers going offline randomly with the PaperCut error ""Unable to access Accounting Server". They never used to lose their connection with the server. The only solution is to turn the photocopiers off and then back on. Its very annoying for users. I dont believe it to be a port or infrastructure issue based on troubleshooting that I have already done.

Hi Matthew. Thanks for your time. We have bene pulling our hair out with this. This issue seems to be just affecting this make and mdoel of photocopier about once or twice a day at random times. Papercut firmware installed on the Sharp Photocopiers says "Unable to access Accounting Server". These are MX-2310U photocopiers with PaperCut version Version: 13.1 (Build 21453). We have Symantec Endpoint protection 11 installed but the firewall is off from what I can see. Hi Seawolf. About once or twice a day at random times. Papercut firmware installed on the Sharp Photocopiers says "Unable to access Accounting Server". This issue affects two of our photocopiers that are the same make and model. The other Sharp model seems unaffected. Papercut said to check that no other software was sharing the same port which I've done. DeviceLock was using it so I changed that to a different port but the problem has not gone away. Papercut then mentioned this article which was reported to have worked for a University in Washington State USA!

Hi everyone. Does anyone know how to firewall off a device on a HP switch? We are having issues with PaperCut (our print management solution) and one solution is to "consider firewalling off your sharp devices at a nearby switch so only print servers can access (hence avoiding exposure to other network traffic)" I understand this completely but how to do this throguh the switches website is a whole new story. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. I think I know the port being used for the photocopier and the IP address and password for the switch!

Here I have all the staff laptops as managed CC4 stations that belong to the Personal Registry type. It works well. Staff log in the first time in school and then after that they can log in locally at home. Make them a "priviliged user" in the machines properties in the RMMC if you want the to have local admin rights. As you said "RM and Classroom PC's are all behaving nicely as expected". You dont have to purchase all of RM's services at the end of the day just make it one network by adding the staff laptops into CC4. Life will be so much easier I think if you can rebuild them onto the CC4 network.

Local Support tools on RM CC4. In the Managemnt Console right click a group of machines then choose "Message".

Having an issue with Windows 8 on our Toshiba Satellite Ultrabooks. These are not Win 8.1 Tablets start saying disconnected on the logon screen. No one can use the tablet. Have to log in as a local administrator. NAPIER-WLAN shows as an available network. Connect automatically box is unticked. Connects back up instantly without needing the password (Password already remembered). This happens randomly to about 30% of the 16 tablets that we have. We have already had the access points checked and the drivers updated. Toshibas solution was to restore the tablets to factory settings!

Hi Danp. For some reason DelProf2 throws up errors and refuses to work on our Windows 8 tablets. Hi Glen_j. Do you think deleting the profiles at log off reduce the number of profile issues that we experience. If so, we will give that a try thanks.

We are getting too many corrupted profiles on student laptops on our CC4 laptops bad tablets still despite fixing the technical problems with them. Grey task bars and missing start menu shortcuts that a profile reset and lclear from system properties fixes. Has anyone tried limiting the number of profiles that can be cached to a laptop? I am wondering if this would help things somewhat. I believe this was something that could be done in group policy?

I'm choosing a channel, clicking "Select Computers" > "Add" The computer is not listed. Nothing under Browse Network Computers. Not present under Browse Agent either. Yet the business manager is using her computer and it is showing in the RM Management Console with packages assigned to it.

Yes I clicked remove computer on the Deployment Environment list - Agents tab. I did not click Uninstall agent as the CC4 computer was rebult. But now when I go into the Update Environemtn Screen I cannot find the computer to re-add it.

Hi guys, I'm now discovering the joys of SOLUS3 having just had it installed on our network. I have rebuilt a workstation wit the same name and have now gone into SOLUS3 to try and re-deploy SIMS applications to it. It was failing to communicate with the agent so I removed the "target" and went to Update Environment to add the "target" back in but it is not showing! The instructions say that as it is AD integrated that it should be listed. I was told adding the target client to a channel was the way to deploy the applications? Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.

The only example I can think of of late was when we couldnt use the Endpoint Protection feature that comes with their Symantec RM Virus Protect 5 because it causes problems with other RM components. They leave the service disabled. So we went out and purchased a solution called DeviceLock from a company in the USA. Other than that I have found their solutions do normally work. They have happy for me to alter settings on the network. Batch files, scripts, registry fragments, GPO's. It doesnt have to be kept the way that they set it up. And if I have made changes and something goes wrong, for me they have always continued to offer help or at least advice. Im suprised! They have never said that my support contract wont cover something. Unless its not their product in the first place. I do shop around for cheaper hardware. Misco we have already used as a supplier for years. I have had the same helpful account manager for the past eight years.

Being the only person in a large primary school I can say that having an RM network has been a godsend. Like some of you I dont have the tme to go investing in, setting up and troubleshooting loads of third party solutions or the time to go experimenting with policies and security settings. Their products are designed to work out of the box and in conjunction with all their other products. And if Im not happy with a product or think its too expensive I can always switch to someone else. I think RM will be around for a long time yet. Most schools still do not have enough of an IT support team and many do not have enough experience to handle all the aspects of a network on their own. For example building computers onto the network and the drivers being supplied as Hardware Support Packs from RM. Something RM and Misco have promised to continue to do. There is nothing nicer than knowing that if I cant get to the bottom of a problem, that I have someone the other end of the phone or the chat window that can help reslve the issue or at least point me in the right direction. They always get back to me within two hours and nearly always solve my issues the same day.

Thanks Ive just found Diner Dash and it looks good for the younger children. Early KS2 maybe (Years 3&4). It gets them talking about what the computer is silulating. How things have to be done in a certain order like in real life. How the computer simulates what happens if people dont get served quickly enough. That kind of thing.

Ahh I found one that looks promising... Hysteria Hospital Children have to keep the queues down, buy suitable equipment and treat patients. Things hapen very quickly in this game and they wont spend ages designing the hospital. They go quickly get straight into running it.

Some of these are think are aimed at secondary level. LinCity-NG is on the right lines but its difficult to tell what the buildings are and you cant see anything really happening. The lemonade stand one is good but its more about adjusting values so Im not sure it would hold their interest for a few lessons. Cities in motion looks like it might be too complex for Primary Age. With Theme Hospital if you didnt have enouch receptionists or GP's, queues formed and patients got upset if there werent enough seats. With Beach Life, people would leave the resort, angry because there were no toilets and it was the "worst holiday ever". This is the kind of thing we are after.
