  1. Do it yourself, it's very simple. I'm on my second full deployment now. Setup Directory Sync, and it'll create your accounts (for password sync you'll need federation services, but you can do this later). If your AD usernames are different to your current email addresses add them manually to each user so they don't loose any emails. Give everyone their new credentials. IMAP over emails from your previous host (or PST for users with large local Outlooks). Change the MX record. Bobs your uncle. Failing that might be worth speaking to Alex Pearce over at BFC Networks. I used to work for him, and he's very good at doing anything Office 365/Sharepoint related.
  2. The Republicans are almost over as a serious political force unless they seriously modernize. I don't think they've realized that their aren't that many angry, white, fundamentalist men in comparison with the liberal, well-educated and the Hispanic population boom.
  3. Not a clue apart from a few who I get on well with in Year 10. We only have 120 odd kids, but I barely spend time in classes. My techie however knows everyone's name. Very useful!
  4. Far too close to call. I think we may end up with a re-run of Bush/Gore in 2000. With Romney winning the popular vote, and Obama getting the electoral college.
  5. Try MISCO they've run trials before. Where in the UK are you?

    Red Dwarf X

They're also making very careful use of Danny John Jules. He's not in it as much, but when he his it's the best scene in the episode
  7. Bloody forgot about it
  8. I'm afraid this has been setup since deployment. No joy.
  9. Hi Folks, I've tried Outlook 2010 and 2013 on a Windows 8 Enterprise machine and it will not connect to the Office 365 Exchange server. Go home on a direct connection - no problem. VPN to work and turn the proxy settings on - no dice. Any ideas? Strangely enough Outlook on Server 2012 works fine.
  10. In the immortal words of Homer Simpson - YOINK!
  11. Completely missed this. Installing now. If I press Crtl+Shift+A will it change the case on the ribbon text as well as the body text?!
  12. I personally use Firefox, but keep managed workstations to IE. GPOs are built in, updates come via WSUS and it just works. It's not a great browser, but it works well in a managed environment.
  13. I always advise schools getting someone in house. Someone who has intimate knowledge of the system and how the staff work. You also get a sense of pride that the network is yours, something which I've noticed outsourced companies by large don't have (come in, fix a job so it works, go) You also get a flexible member of staff who can cover all sorts of contingencies (you'd be amazed how often I'm standing in the car park in a morning helping with the buses). Even if money is tight I try and point out that you could get a company in for fours a week term time only, and pay them £5k. Or you could get someone starting their career who is adaptable and pay them £10k pro-rata and gain the benefits of a committed member of a staff.
  14. I know rates can vary between £5000 pa for 3 hours a week term time only, to the LEA charging £12,000 a year for one day a week term time only. The problem is you'll end with schools paying it as a stop gap, when the money being spent would be better going into a term time only permanent member of staff.
  15. AFAIK Ab Tutor can be set to filter, but only if you manually apply a policy to a PC. I've never seen it screw with the proxy settings.
  16. I used to have one of those! That is all.
  17. I get the distinct feeling at my t'other school where it is deployed the server isn't set up correctly. Attempt to read PCs from a DB - errors, attempt to read from AD - errors (but does bring up a list). Deployment works, uninstall doesn't.
  18. No, as long as you can ensure or attempt to ensure students aren't bypassing your filtering. Luckily as a special, my students have no laptops or tablets to roam with. Always with at least one member of staff. Hence I've binned the bugger
  19. Same place that's taken them over six weeks to realise Sophos v10 doesn't like ePortal, and over a week to release "guidance" (aka oops we didn't test all this properly) to schools. I've got PCE at one of my schools and it's killing Win 7 x86 machines. Worst part is the bloody uninstaller doesn't work, even disabling it in MSConfig it still comes back. Luckily everyone has admin rights, so they've got a batch file to run to kill the sodding thing
  20. Bah done it. I never knew Windows Vista onwards allows you to play microphone input straight through the speakers. Last time I tried this was on Windows 2000 way back when and you couldn't do it. Nice feature!
  21. I need help, and my brain is frazzled trying to figure this out. I've got one set of speakers which connect to via the standard 3.5" jack. At the moment it either connects to my PC via soundcard or my monitor for my Virgin HD box in the office (using HDMI from the V HD box to my monitor and then plugging the speakers into the monitors 3.5" jack as it doesn't have internal speakers). It's a bit of pain to keep swapping the cable over so I'm looking for a splitter. Effective it needs three female 3.5" jacks one output (speakers) and two input (PC and HDMI) Anyone know if this exists?!
  22. Have MS released these yet? There's a whole mass of GPOs that work on Windows 7, but are not picked up by Windows 8. Whether this is because the GPOs have changed, or whether it's traditional MS fuckupery with a new OS release I haven't figured out yet!
  23. Try using the start screen for a while. It's actually pretty decent when you get used to the change.
  24. Never understood digital watches. These days all they really are is acceptable jewelery for men. I prefer a nice looking traditional watch for that. http://lh4.googleusercontent.com/public/Y8hGk1Hx-FVbX_285jDPOynZQZxaaighs58RpFTgpvkkMlHoNz3tuH_HhRtLPoogf3uATocOayO5ogBGJWOnFx9TiagERIt56AeTPxGyjZPhzUva0eMI5bq6KNjRJzgP1I3JEOIjpSp2EUpG0b59M28qC1Id0WYIEkFS8RdStXx1HQ
  25. It's sad the media have barely mentioned Mike Collins. Always Buzz Aldrin they want to hear from. Technically Buzz was the number three man on the mission. The CMPs job was seen as far more important than being the commanders side-kick on the lunar surface.
