Has anyone figured out how to install Sophos Enterprise Console 5.1 on Windows 8? Link2ICT in Brum say it's just not supported. I know 5.2 is out and works, but 1) I don't have time at the moment to upgrade server side and 2) Link2ICT do not support it yet!

The SNP did want a third option - DevoMax. Honestly the last thing the SNP wanted was a straight yes/no referendum. As an Englishman living in England Alex Salmond would say my opinion does not matter - opposed to an Englishman living in Scotland, or like my Head a Scotsman living in England. Even who can have a vote is a ridiculous situation. My personal opinion is that the UK is stronger with Great Britain. I understand the Scots hate being ruled by a bunch of toffs in Westminster. I live north of Oxford so I also understand this! The rest is ancient history and imho should bare no concern on the current vote for the future of Scotland. What annoys me is the way the SNP are trying to cherry pick. They wanted Devo-Max, that's obvious, but as they can't have that as an option they want to cherry pick the best parts of being in the UK. Keep the Pound, keep the monarchy (until the half Scottish Queen dies), keep fiscal union, keep a closely related armed forces. Remove Trident (try removing the American's from the Holy Loch! - that won't happen if Scotland want NATO membership), be part of the EU with the same opt-outs as negotiated (by a Tory PM) at Maastricht. I agree with the hardline the major UK political parties are taking. This isn't a vote for Devo-Max. This is a vote to become a totally independent country. If that passes for good or ill why should Scotland an rUK keep acting like we are in political union?

Hello, Do any specials in the UK use Sims Assessment Manager for recording their progress instead of other software such as BSquared? We had a very slick demo from Capita (Sims and Service Birmingham) earlier today, but it appears what we need assessment software to do (show progress within a P-Level for example) is not built in and would have to be commissioned by Capita as a professional project.

Well I realise it's not going to be close to London 2012, but when they show the ladies speed skating and then don't bother to show the final couple of competitors! I know they didn't stand a chance, but it would be nice to watch everyone after investing that time in it. If they cock up up the ice hokey I won't be happy! The commentating for the snowboarding was ridiculous. Yes, it's a young sport - but you don't need someone screaming during the event it's just off-putting.

All of the coverage has been a bit - meh - IMHO Constantly flipping between pre-recorded events on BBC2 with the very occasional live event. It's almost like the Beeb is just going through the motions of putting it on the telly.

Why did I do it? Had to run the latest ePortal megabuild (which has fouled up on queue) and noticed some of the servers need updates... Why did I set them off at 10:30pm on a week night, one is still running and I want to go to bed!

Through EE I pay (on business tied to our phones) £12pcm for a dongle with 5GB of data on the 3G/4G in Brum network. It can either be used with the dongle on a PC, or in an iPad. I've tried using the shared connection iPad to iPad and they didn't charge us anymore. My EE customer rep was actually surprised when I asked if I could use what is a PC/dongle contract SIM in my iPad. He didn't know!

Help! I can find guides upon guides (including an awful Microsoft Garage "aren't we cool" video) on deployment, but how do I get my licenses for O365PP from Volume Licensing and assign them within the O365 Portal? Anyone figured this out?!

Hmmm would it require massive costs - really? PLANT Most schools are open until gone 6pm most days anyway - boilers are still firing which would be the single largest energy expenditure. Teaching Staff Costs Teaching Staff do not work 9-5 they work a set number of days a year. Drop the holidays down from 12 weeks to 6 and there's your extra teaching hours per day. Support Staff Costs Would in the grand scheme of teaching staff costs be minimal. Let's be honest your standard 1000 pupil comp would spend a good 85% of it's budget on staff and barely 20% of that would be on support staff. On average you can get (excluding management support) 2 or 3 support members of staff for one UPS teacher - let alone before you start adding TLRs in. Is this is a good idea in my opinion? No. Are there a major obstructions to to adoption? No - especially after Boris persuades Dave to toughen up the striking rules.

I'll take one for my school - that's pretty sweet hardware to decommission.

Ugh. I love HP servers, but this is just a bad idea for SMEs. Obviously with virtualisation they are selling far less boxes and need to recoup the money from somewhere. The problem is when your hardware reaches a certain age you can't get Carepak's for them!

Hmm bizarrely it works from our partner school who are part of the same LEA network. This has to be a DNS issue, but I just can't see it. There aren't that many DNS settings to get wrong, and I've triple checked all of them!

This has been driving me mad for months. Since the latest wave update my Outlook clients on site connect, then disconnect, then connect, disconnect etc. As far as I can tell this does work fine off site - and the connection analyser tool checks out OK. My tenant domain school.bham.sch.uk is also the same as my internal AD domain (also school.bham.sch.uk) - don't ask why it's legacy. I've set all the DNS records up - even typing autodiscover.school.bham.sch.uk into a browser takes you directly to OWA. I've been reading that a very small % of users have had problems with Outlook and the latest wave of O365, but I cannot tell whether I am one of the really unlucky ones or there is something screwy in my internal DNS which I'm too stupid to figure out. Help!
