Anyone come across this before? I resilvering my home RAID box replacing 3TB drives with 4TB and was about to fire up gparted to extend the drives when I found I couldn't access either 3TB drive using a USB 3 SATA-USB bridge. Gparted and Linux wouldn't recognise, and Windows not even diskpart could clean it. Final check I plugged it in my PC directly - and hey presto. All the data is there. Strange thing is the USB 3 SATA bridge came with a 2TB HDD!

Old i3s believe it or not, at least four years old. Cheapo SSDs as well - so looks like the drive is handling it phenomenally well.

At home, it's worse than at work. I'd rather be resilvering a 5TB array full of photos of the SLT's children, then rebuild my own storage at home. I use a Buffalo DriveStation Duo. Going from 2x 3TB in RAID1 to 2x 4TB. That jump in storage has taken me just under a year! Normally I'd break the array, and stick one drive directly onto a SATA interface, build a new array with the new drives and copy the data back. This time I've decided to let the hardware do it for me. Degrade Disc 2, replace a 3TB with a 4TB let it rebuild. Degrade Disc 1, repeat. Increase partition size.

I've just encrypted a 120GB SSD with Sophos Safeguard v5. it took 8 minutes. Average time on spinning rust is 2hrs. Wowser.

Upload still very low - unless I'm wrong and it isn't 100Mbps/100Mbps up and down?

Not slow browsing, which would be a core proxy issue, but downloading large files? There's no way classes are using 30Mbps of downlink and almost 70Mbps of uplink. It won't all fall apart - a system barely maintained could run for months without any noticeable to the common user problems. Why don't have an agreement to come in early once every couple of weeks to run updates? What requires an hour and a half of daily updates?

After starting to take mine to a certain garage in South Birmingham, they've always passed with flying colours. I know they shouldn't. I'm not sure whether I'm relieved, or very worried!

I would always recommend ABTutor Control due to the licensing. £200 gets you unlimited PCs you can "view" and one admin license to look at them all. Another £200 gets you a second "viewer". I've got two one for my laptop, and one for my desktop (VPN on to from home). I've also used it across two schools separated by miles for a couple of years. As long as you can access that IP range you can view the PCs on a completely different network.

Sophos Endpoint doesn't seem to mind it.

My Mk 1.5 Focus randomly has the engine management light going on and off for no good reason. In the end I coughed up £30 and bought the diagnostic tool. Every error is an N/A - not listed in the thousands of codes. Then paid to have a garage take a look - their diagnosis - a dodgy ECU as it was the first generation Ford fit as standard. Now I just put up with it unless it stays on for a day or two, then I connect the machine and delete. More concerning the oil light keeps flashing up for a split second. At first I thought I was seeing things as it's so quick, but I had to break hard going down a steep hill last week and actually caught the bugger.

Sadly Roberto there would be an attempt by the SNP to turn pro-Union into anti-Scottish as referenced above. My main beef with all of this is if Scotland leaves then there is no Great Britain as a political entity (yes we keep Union of the Crowns - until Queenie dies anyway) and henceforth no United Kingdom. This would in principle be a massive change for every British citizen. For a start would we still be "British" without Great Britain? It would have massive unforeseen impacts on our international relations - would we keep our seat at the UN Security council for example? A referendum of such scope to the entire political makeup of the country for the past 300 years should be open to all citizens.

Purely out of interest it would have been very interesting to see this entire debate when Gordon was PM (hell or even Blair). Scottish independence from a Union led by two Scots?

It would be a powerful anti-Union message though. English Toff PM making an anti-Scottish can go it alone stance. However he would phrase the pro-Union argument it would come back to that. It's not being a chicken. It's like trying to debate Ed Balls. You get nowhere, he just keeps banging on about the same thing until everyone wants to punch him. Edit - And I'm a Labour man! And I still want to deck Ed Balls!

Ok it's a while ago and from the Torygraph, but the language of Salmond: Alex Salmond wants David Cameron to make 'anti-Scottish' case in TV debate - Telegraph “articulate a case against Scotland” - whatever Cameron said would be soundbite nirvana for the SNP. Given that sort of language, would you?

Why should Cameron debate? As has been made painfully clear this is a vote on the future of Scotland, not the future of the United Kingdom. This referendum is between the people of Scotland and the political parties of the Scottish Assembly. Once again you can't say that this is a Scottish issue and rUK cannot vote and then expect the political parties of rUK to get involved in a formal debate on the issue, where quite honestly Cameron would be mullered one way or the other. If this referendum was on the future of the entire United Kingdom where every citizen had a vote, then yes the Westminster leaders should be out debating this US style (ugh), but it's not. The whole setup is remarkably screwed up. It's a Scottish issue, but really it's not as it involves everyone in the UK. Who campaigns for the Union? Scottish MPs? Should the Westminster elite get involved as it directly affects the entire Union, or should they stay away as the referendum is setup for the Scots? If Westminster leaders get involved are they campaigning for the Union and the rUK citizens who do not have a say or are they (as I'm sure would be portrayed north of the border) once again interfering in sovereign Scottish affairs? This whole mess could have been handled far better.
