Update - just put a couple of extra gallons in and no dice.

My car is currently parked in yonder Tesco car park across the road. After bimbling around 30 miles across Birmingham today I popped in on my way home and now she won't start. Mark 1.5 Focus, 1.6 petrol, 52 plate. Turns over, clicks, chugs then nothing. Doesn't help that I chose to be frugal (D'OH!) and don't have the home start option on my breakdown and Tesco is *just* within 1/4 mile. From what I've read it could be: * Fuel pump * Bogged up fuel filter * Spark plugs - fitted somewhat crudely by my father in law 36 months ago Any ideas? I've had a gaze at a plug in situ (can't get it out all my tools are at work) and it looks OK, got a whiff of fuel as well. I've stopped turning it over in frustration before I kill the battery. The fuel is low, as in under 8 litres, but the fuel light is not on and there should be sufficient for another 20 miles. I'm hesitant to get a jerry can as if it has to be scrapped that's another wasted £20. So ... any ideas? I'm going to let my FIL have a look tomorrow and if not then it's either do a tow to a garage ourselves or sign up with another breakdown company and wait 24 hrs. Luckily my in laws have a "spare" old car they are saving for my brother in law to pass his test, so I can at least get to work for the next couple of weeks.

I have and wouldn't again. Can't go above 70 and your breaking distance is ridiculous. Not only are they as bad as your own worn tyres, you have no idea what's happened to them before and during the re-moulding. It is worth the money for new. Last time I swapped my fronts for a nice set of Goodyears (£100 a corner) within a month I had a taxi turn sharply in front of me - I stopped within in millimetres of hitting the bugger. If I'd gone for remoulds that time I'd have gone right into him. The difference also was remoulds on a 1.2 Ka compared to a 1.6 Focus. If you have more umph than a lawn mower you need to make sure it stops in good order.

Now I can create the PAC file, even get it to use a proxy or not based on your IP address, but I have no idea where to host it. If it's hosted on a server in school, surely that means that when staff go home they can't access it. If I host on say our public facing website it would be available for anyone to find? If it's on our hosted website, and staff go home how can they access the PAC on the website if by default IE tries to connect to a proxy server that isn't there, without the PAC file to tell it no to bother? Or should I copy it onto each PC and run it locally?

Hello, I'm after a quick ELI5 explanation of how WDS works compared to Ghost for example. At the moment I use Ghost so for each PC "type" I install Windows, drivers, update, install our software (a lot is pre-2004 so no MSIs), set it up how I want it, stick a short cut to sysprep on the desktop and push it out. How does WDS work? Do you need an "image" for each PC type to make sure the correct drivers are deployed? I believe you can tell it to deploy software (much like an old XP style unattended install), but they have to be MSIs?

I had a school administered one and came out at 124 which I was well chuffed with. Folks have to remember the average IQ for the population is ~105. Anything over 120 is considered to be in the top 5% of the population.

I've found that RM thrive in schools that either do not have in house technical support, have more relaxed in house support (why work out how to do this, when CCx can do it for me) or it is embedded when you arrive and the only way to get rid of it is to build a new domain. Things will always be better when you build yourself without installing a heavy weight of management software on top - this isn't always achievable. Also the cost - no only for kit, but to license your RM management software on top of your normal yearly commitments to software/MS licensing and to your LEA. I've had this with a signing in system. We "rent" it. We've paid Lord knows how many thousands to "buy" the system and then have to pay several hundreds each year in "maintenance" which means if we don't pay they take the hardware and software alone. They don't let me have access to it - on occasions when I've say created a user account or changed the IP they've reverted the changes and emailed my line manager about me potentially "hacking" their kit. At the beginning it didn't even have an anti-virus installed nor any Updates. They installed AV, but refuse to run updates and they've not been tested with their software. Please note that the admin software is listed under task manager as "Project 1" - it's a bloody VB knock up! Best I can do is live with it, and hope I can get us out of renewal. HOWEVER! In your case it's CCTV. Which means it's taking footage of the kids which = safeguarding. Get the Head to email them that you need access to ensure that the footage is being properly stored and recorded.

Tell Service Birmingham that. Not only is it their practice, if you spend ages playing around with permissions for their backup account and remove it from domain admins, they put it back and tell you it's unsupported.

Ok - is your Anti-Virus or backup provided by your LEA? AV and backup service accounts are normally domain admin accounts. If your LEA is anything like Service Birmingham the default username/password will be the same across the authority. For example if you use Sophos AV provided by your LEA ask them for the default service account credentials (or even look on their support portal). If they need the Head to email them, then ask them. Do you use Ranger? Is there a Ranger account? Normally most networks have at least a couple of service accounts that require domain admin to read/install what is required. This could be a way in, assuming the support company hasn't denied logon to service accounts in GP!

Voodoo thread resurrection! Turns out that MS finally released the patches for this a month or so ago. And you still need a registry fix for it. Patches for Windows and Outlook are out on Windows Update, the reg fix is: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\x.0\Outlook\RPC Note In this key path, the placeholder x.0represents 15.0 for Outlook 2013 and 14.0 for Outlook 2010. On the Edit menu, click New, and then click DWORD Value. Type EnableForceHttpProxy. On the Edit menu, click Modify. Type 1, and then click OK. Exit Registry Editor. Start Outlook. You'll need to create the RPC key. Then it works. From what I've read on Technet this behaviour is by design! Microsoft obviously feel manually entering the proxy and exceptions to be a depreciated method and we should all use PAC files.

Ah! I have some Optiplex 780s which refuse to output to monitor + TV. In the end we just swapped PCs around. This makes sense now.

Be glad you aren't my in laws. Mid-1930s semi, the wiring hadn't been renewed since the ring main was first installed in the 1950s. All the rubber coating had perished. They were close to the whole lot going up in smoke. Luckily when we bought our house (same vintage, same area) the wiring was late 1980s - thanks to the British Standard mark on the coating!

To Play the King is the best IMO. Sadly as one of the character's is pretty much a realistic take on a bitter Diana and an impressionable young version of William no one in the UK has the balls to reshow it. However fantastic (and lovely) Susannah Harker is as Mattie she does feel a bit one dimensional. Michael Kitchen plays a straight shooting portrayal of Prince Charles as King - which is probably very much as he will eventually be. If you really want to do the Urqhart trilogy justice read the books. Far superior, and explain a lot of the background. Characters who vanish between TV serials (such as Ben Landless) do not in the books and Urqharts early betrayals come back to haunt him.

Might want to lower the price. I've just bought as my work machine a brand new Alienware 17 with the latest kit 32GB of RAM and dual SSDs for just under £1600 (excl VAT).
