  1. If you like a good zombie flick then a funny one to watch is Dead Snow. Nazi Zombies... that's all I will say. For something a bit more classic you could go watch The Evil Dead series (more humorous than anything though). Which also had a rather gory tv show recently. Another classic. Event Horizon. If you haven't seen that then treat yourself! Tucker and Dale vs Evil. Again a pretty funny one but gory too.
  2. Watched the new remake of the Magnificent 7. Pretty decent western although it does at time require you to just go with it and not look to closely at the details, such as holding what appears to be a six shooter and shooting way more than that. Also a Gatling gun that shot from some distance away seems to have much more devastating and accurate effect then you would think possible. But apart from that a good western
  3. I am definitely going to have to go and read the books after the series finishes. Don't want to do them alongside each other lest one detracts from the other. But the show just keeps getting better. Again on Ep 3 Miller throws a curveball right at the end. Loving it!
  4. I will probably give this movie a go. Although I noticed a few little discrepancies in the trailers vs the original anime. In the anime, to go into "ghost" mode(ie invisible) she would strip off her clothes and she was as you would expect a woman to look like. But in the trailer it looks as though she has some sort of tight fitting suit on.. more like a Barbie doll really. I know I know. Scarlett probably wouldn't have signed on for it if she was having to run around in the buff. And probably the perv in me wanting to see her naked, but there you go. For anyone who hasn't seen the anime go and watch it. It is a classic!
  5. Oh yes. Season 2 is so far off to a stellar start. Initially I tried to hold off and build up a bulk of episodes so that I could binge watch them. But after the first episode I am hooked once again and simply must watch it when it comes out. But I agree. Miller is an awesome character. I like how in Ep 2 it seemed as if he was going to go one way, but then just went a completely opposite way when he came up with his plan of action. Can hardly wait for more!
  6. Ah ha! That did it. Due to the nature of the domain and me not having access to all areas of said domain I needed to prestage the Cluster and Cluster application objects in AD and then give the Cluster name account full control of the Cluster application account. It is up and running now so I think that should do it. Many thanks I think that puts it about Beer 'o clock. Have one on me good Sir!
  7. My user account has access to do that, but only on one particular OU. When I created the failover cluster though it did create the cluster computer object for me ok without me having to delegate or anything. But when I try to add the role for HA file sharing it created the role, but fails to start. And no it doesn't create the AD object then. I tried manually going into AD and creating the AD object for the HA file server name and then starting it but that still didn't seem to like that.
  8. Got a couple of programmes I am well into at the moment. My absolute number one though (and one I save purely for when the missus is out so that I can put the sound up and the lights down) is Black Sails. The prequel story to Treasure island. Glorious ship battles and it is currently on the last series which means some all out battles are looming. Another good show is the Expanse. It is a futuristic sci-fi where there is a looming war between mars colonist's and earth. To go any deeper would ruin the plot twists. But it is a good solid sci-fi Still watching Gotham as well. Didn't really like it at first but it grew on me. Timeless is a good show as well. Your basic time travel gets invented. Someone steals the machine to go back and alter history, a crack team is put together to stop them. When I am bored on the train I have started going back and re-watching BSG. Still a great series that
  9. Is anyone here particularly good at the clustering side of server? I have never had to do it before on Server 2012 R2 but I am trying to have a go and ran into some problems. Got 2 X Virtual servers running 2012 r2. Got 2 X Nic's on each (one for iScsi and one for normal network connection). Installed the file server, iScsi initiator and failover cluster roles/features. All fine. Connected them both to my SAN via iScsi. All working great so far. Setup the Failover cluster between the 2 servers without any issue. Now, when I go trying to add a role to my failover cluster (HA Classic file share) it makes the role (ie, it shows up in roles) but fails to start. Tried it on both nodes and neither will let me start it. Checked and I can ping the IP address that I setup for said HA File share. If I go and Get-Clusterresource it shows the File server as offline and the network name as failed. The IP address I set for said HA share is online. When I look at my event logs I have the following event ID's : 1193, 1069, 1205 and 1254. Following some online docs it suggested it might be a DNS replication error. I tried putting in the name of the HA file share that I set in the localhosts file on both servers. Still the same. Now I don't know if it is related or not but when I reboot both servers and then go into Failover Cluster manager it won't let me immediately connect to the cluster, even though the cluster name is resolvable and pingable. Takes a few minutes before it actually lets me connect to it. But as I say, that may be non related. Can anyone offer any suggestions on how I can bring this HA File share role online?
  10. I watched iBoy and I have to say while I did watch the whole thing it was a bit silly. Someone who has a computer part in their brain which allows them to control technology would not get a "Hacking %" bar come up while they are trying to hack into a phone. Plus, it looked as though he was using an android phone. So would that make him vulnerable to attack too? Apart from the last movie I watched was Dr Strange. Not bad. Could have done better though in places. As a lover of the comic books I am looking forward to the whole Infinity Gem saga.
  11. What is your DFS service running through? Windows server and if so what version. And what version is this PC that cannot access it? This might be a bit redundant, but have you tried adding the DFS name into the local hosts file pointing to the servers IP address?
  12. Hi there, I just wanted to get other peoples thoughts on the best way to implement a file server solution that allows HA. Currently we have a Dell Equallogic SAN which we will be using for storage and what I was thinking was to use Server 2012 as a means of presenting that storage to the users on the network. The 2 ways I see that I could possibly do this is to either make 2 X virtual 2012 servers in a cluster which will then connect via iSCSI to the SAN. Then use Classic File share with continuous availability. However all of my client pc's that will be connecting to this share are Windows 7 for the foreseeable future and from what I read if a client was performing a large file transfer when one of the nodes goes down then they get an error about the location no longer existing. While this is not likely to happen every day (the large transfers I mean) it does occasionally happen between certain departments. Or my other thought on this to have those server 2012's running with Network load balance IP between them with an appropriate record pointing to said IP that would be the new file server name that we use. But I am not sure if this may cause conflicts with both servers being connected to the SAN and if say one user was load balanced to one server and accessed the same data that another user would be using while connected through the other server. Any advice that you could offer regarding this would be appreciated.
  13. Also, just for curiosity sake, I am going to upgrade one of these laptops to windows 8.1 and see if that then allows me to get updates from my current Wsus server
  14. Tried disabling IPv6. Still the same I am afraid. When I started tweaking my new Wsus server it started presenting even more strange errors. So for that one I have removed and now re-installing wsus from scratch to hopefully get it working. Once I can confirm it works from another pc I will try it from these problematic laptops.
  15. Strangeness abound. My new server won't allow anyone to pickup updates at all it seems despite me installing them exactly as the notes say. Just getting a timeout error on it. So just trying what PyROm suggested and turning off IPv6 and then back to trying to figure out why my new one will not allow updates from it. But as it is, still having the same old issue on the original one.
  16. As a side test I am going to put WSUS on another server on my network and try pointing them to that to see if they can update. I'll let you know how that gets on.
  17. On another note. I have also today tried allowing certain IP addresses through the main firewall to allow them to get updates from MS directly. That works ok. So my theory about network drivers possibly having issue with one part of my infrastructure was debunked.
  18. We do not use proxy. Also, I have tried disabling the firewall on the laptops. Still the same.
  19. Yes. I can confirm that it is Windows 7 Pro SP1 (64bit if that is of any note). I tried Wuauclt but it doesn't seem to do anything and when I go into windows update again, same error.
  20. An interesting problem you have described there for sure, but I am afraid I have sat there all day constantly trying again and it always just comes back with the error
  21. Hi there, Yes, I can confirm that the server setting I would expect it to be. Have also checked it against another machine that does work.
  22. We have a new laptop we are trying to deploy on our network HP elitebook 8440p's with Windows 7 Pro 64-bit. When connected straight out to the outside world they do windows updates fine. However, when I point them to my internal WSUS server they come back with the error code 80072EE2. The WSUS server itself appears to work for all other computers in the domain apart from this new model. I have tried rebuilding windows 7 Pro from scratch. I have also checked the registry for any vendor WSUS servers and there are non apart from mine. We are not running any proxy to connect to the server. We have eliminated Firewall and any security software from the equation. Tried with and without AV, as well as fresh build with no AD ever installed. Tried with the firewall on and with it off. Also connected the laptop directly to the network the WSUS server was on with no luck. Checked the laptops for any spyware/malware and as I said, have rebuilt them from scratch while ensuring that any media connected was clean. So that has been ruled out. Registered the following dlls: oleaut32.dll, jscript.dll, vbscript.dll, msxml.dll, softpub.dll, wintrust.dll, initpki.dll, cryptdlg.dll Tried changing the MTU of the LAN card. Also rolled back the driver to an older version. Tried running MS Fixit (both the newer version as well as the older version that allows you to run it in aggressive mode). Same. Tried installing the latest version of Windows update agent. Also tried the following Start > type cmd in start search > right click “run as administrator”. Ø Copy and paste the command below as given. net stop wuauserv cd %systemroot% ren SoftwareDistribution SoftwareDistribution.old net start wuauserv net stop bits - The BITS service is not started (message) net start bits net stop cryptsvc cd %systemroot%\system32 ren catroot2 catroot2.old - net start cryptsvc regsvr32 Softpub.dll /s regsvr32 Wintrust.dll /s regsvr32 Initpki.dll /s regsvr32 Mssip32.dll /s Ø Restart the computer. Success, Windows update now working. No joy. I can see it make the connection through my network and I can see it come up on the WSUS server under computers, however it just never seems to actually get past that. Also tried installing the windows 7 64bit server update readiness tool. 23. I am having this exact same issue, however, when I tried to apply the root update that was mentioned it didn't seem to do anything. I am running Windows 7 64bit SP1. Would that have anything to do with it? Also, even after doing the update that didn't seem to do anything I am still having the same issue.
  24. Hi all, I have a strange problem I have just noticed on our laptops. They are all running windows xp SP3. When I go to connect to our 3G connection which then connects to our APN and our network it will not let me log on with multi remote. Now I know there is that problem with Win XP and multiremote but I have resolved it with a group policy which makes the necessary registry changes. This allows me to log on as the user who is currently logged on, but if they are on a 3g connection when I try to log on as a different user I get it trying to log in, giving me all the usual Loading settings etc.. but then it disconnects the 3g connection and even if I reconnect it I still get The 2 computers couldn't connect in the amount of time allotted. This happens every time. I have tried it with different model laptops and the same issue. Is there something I am missing or is this simply a limitation of Windows XP that I was not aware of?
  25. I have one child. A son of 2 1/2 . Possibly will have more in the future. I am going to be hard but fair when he is older with regards to consoles and games. He can have the latest Xbox/console he wants..... when he can beat me or my high scores at a selection of games on MAME (bomberman, street fighter and a few others) Either that or he can have his own new gadget when he can either build it himself or buy it himself.
