But every one of those users would need a CAL right?
-
What I mean by the clients is all the 100 odd new external users I would be adding. Would they need their own CAL or would it be down to me as the admin of the exchange server to buy the licenses? At the moment we have CAL's for the users in house, no more. And are on a Per-user license agreement.
-
So does that mean the clients would all need their own CALS? Or would I need to purchase additional CALS on my side for them to be able to use this?

I have a question regarding licensing in Exchange 200 enterprise, but more with regards to the Outlook Web access part of it. I am about to create e-mail addresses for a load of external users (roughly 100 give or take), but just wanted to know before I do that, do users accessing their mailboxes via OWA need licenses? Or how indeed does it affect my licenses I do have in my network if at all? Any advise would be greatly received.
-
Checked that and no difference. Any other suggestions?
-
Ahh yes, sorry. We are running Exchange server 2003 Enterprise on a Windows 2003 server SP2 system.

Ok. So where can I check the name it has in the EHLO/HELO handshake? I'm assuming that is what your suggesting I check right?

Hi there, I have a strange problem whereby nobody in my e-mail domain can e-mail this one company in Poland. Every time we try we get this error There was a SMTP communication problem with the recipient's email server. Please contact your system administrator. We can however receive e-mails from them ok. Now the lady on the other end has come back and said it's a problem with our server configuration and her IT team have said this is the problem HELO cant be localhost Any ideas/thoughts on this one would be appreciated. First time this has ever happened.

when you kick over ever can/cardboard box you see in the street looking for a powerup. or saying to a colleague at lunchtime "I need to eat something soon, my health bar is really low".

sure. But why then is is all of a sudden started happening to 3 of our users when sending emails to certain e-mail addresses and even then the NDR only happens randomly? If it was happening every time they sent an e-mail to that address then I would agree, but it doesn't. And it only happens for these 3 users.

Thanks Andy, I tried that but no joy. Sorry, I think I should clarify some things which might help. It is the local server that is generating the report. The only restrictions in play are size restrictions of 20mb incoming and outgoing. There are no attachments on these e-mails in question so I don't see how that restriction could be causing the problem here. I have tried tracking the messages through Exchange System manager and it goes as far as starting Outbound Transfer of Message and then SMTP generates the NDR. It is not every time that the users in question will get a NDR. Sometimes the e-mail goes through to the person they are e-mailing and sometimes they get a NDR. Having checked said e-mails for attachments/swear words I could see no reason why some would go through and not others.

Hi there, Got a bit of a strange one in that we are running exchange 2003 Enterprise and recently 2 or 3 of our users have been getting the following error There was a SMTP communication problem with the recipient's email server. Please contact your system administrator. #5.5.0 smtp;553-Message filtered. Now I can e-mail to the address's the people in question are having problems e-mail to so I know it is nothing to do with our domain being blocked, and I have checked they are not putting some kind of strange attachment/signature when sending to these people. But they keep getting this bounceback e-mail when e-mailing to certain e-mail address's that were previously fine to e-mail. I have been all up and down the Exchange settings and the users accounts and have so far come up with nothing. Just wondered if anyone could offer any advice or has had something similar happen to them? Thanks in advance.

Hi, I have a wierd problem that came to light today on just one clients pc. On random old e-mails it is not showing the text within the e-mail, either on the read panel or when you open it. If you click reply then the text shows, or if you right click in the supposidly blank e-mail and click select all and then copy, then paste to a word doc the text is all there. What is strange is even when you select all nothing shows up. Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

Yes. But one would assume anyway that if by some strange occurrence it was resent by his computer then everyone on the recipient list would have received it. Not just this one chap. That and the sent date would have changed. But it is still showing the original sent date on it.

Hi guys, Had a slightly weird thing happen on our mail server recently. It only seems to have happened to 2 people so far but if I could understand why a little better than maybe I could stop it from happening again or at least know why it did it. For some reason these 2 people had old e-mails that they had recieved ages ago resend themselves. If you look in Exchange system manager they show the original mail sent, going through the usual steps and then being deleivered to the users mailbox. Only to show the same thing happening months later (ie: submitted to advanced queueing, catagorizer etc..) That particular piece of e-mail had multiple recipients and only this one guy received it again. Now I understand if this was sent to a user that it couldn't resolve and get bounced back. But this was sent to an internal e-mail address (all the recipients were internal), with no errors or problems shown. Any ideas why this happened? Thanks.

We are soon to be starting up our own WSS server here and I just had a question about it. Can you use MySQL instead of a SQL Server as the database for WSS? Also, Which version of SQL server/MySQL works best with WSS 3.0? Thanks in advance.

It isn't that old I don't think. But it is building the Raid as we speak. So only time will tell.

Thanks. And your right Peter. It is an old card and out of warranty. Thats why I was just trying to find a way around it. I suppose all that is left then is to try it and see. Thanks again guys

Hi guys, I got a question before I got ahead with something. I am building a new backup server and have a 3ware 8 port backup controller for my 6 X Seagate 1.5tb hard disks. In the process of plugging in all these drives it seems like port 1 is faulty. It picks up port 0 fine just either picks up an unsupported drive or no drive at all on port 1. So I was going to skip using port 0 and 1 and use port 6 and 7 instead. Does that have any implications for the OS by not using port 0? I was going to be setting it as Raid 5 and use a USB key to boot into a Linux Operating system(probably Gentoo). Thanks.

I have seen something similar in a t-shirt http://image1.bubbleshare.com/media/01/07/52/3a/b72aa49fae69489bc69ba3a9739d874f95d8dcbc/580x435/dead-lolcats_580x435.jpg

Awesome! I want one.

One of the few game review sites that I visit often.

Ahh yes, almost forgot about Animal Crossing. I think thats probably because I once picked it up and then got hooked to that electronic crack. But after I found a way to cheat the game I got bored and didn't really go back to it. If you ever want to annoy your wife, get her DS and change the calendar to a few months ahead, or a year if your feeling particularly evil. Next time she goes into the game her town will be overrun with weeds and most of her flowers will have died. Mwuuuahaahaa.
