I've put together a basic "add/remove/default printer" application for use by staff inMS Visual Studio 2013 using Visual Basic. I was just curious if there is any way anyone is aware of to remove the Windows Close X in the top right? I know I can remove the "Control Box" by simply setting a True to False, but that removes the icon at the top left as well, and I'm being a little OCD about it... Any one aware of a bit of code or even something in the designer side to do this? Cheers

We have one called "Dark Lane" nearby - it has no street lights. There's also a Cum Cum Hill on the way to London (couldn't tell you exactly where), and Cucumber Lane branches off of it. I probably find them funnier than I should...

One of the main features will no doubt be media centre type capability - it's already kind of gone that way with the 360/PS3 & X-ONE/PS4. I wouldn't be surprised if, as discussed, they didn't attempt to put some sort of online DRM gaming thing in there to TRY and stop piracy, before failing miserably and having to patch and it to remove it.

AFAIK, the Magic Triangle is the only free "off the shelf" soution... As Brimstone has said, steer clear of Mavericks for now - we're having major issues with users logging on correctly. If they're part of an AD group, that's added into OD they won't work. Each user has had to be added to OD manually otherwise there are issues authenticating for network shares and the internet.

I'm facing the exact same issue - the only problem is staff seem to be happy for the kids to "fix" there own issues when it comes to keyboard and mice problems caused by other kids, so this just escalates he problem. Somehow, the kids also keep stealing the keyboards - I'd love to know why... Our desks have lockable cabinets for the towers, so I've ordered a bunch of USB extension leads so they can still use memory sticks and the cabinets are getting locked. PCs turn themselves on and off with a script so shouldn't be an issue. From past experience, tie wraps work a treat unless they happen to find a pair of scissors.

Morning All, Just wondering if anyone can offer some advice? I have a suite of 15 Fujitsu Lifebook A544 laptops all running Win7 x64. When told to shutdown they turn off, and immediately power back on. I've tried BIOS update / various BIOS settings to no avail, doesn't seem to be a common problem with this particular laptop when I've searched the web, but a suite of 15 are doing the same thing. After a couple of attempts they appear to shutdown properly. I've tried "sfc.exe /scannow" I've tried changing the value of "PowerDownAfterShutdown" in "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon" from 0 to 1 as was a fix in XP for a similar issue. Windows is updated to the full, and all drivers are up to date. Power on lan is disabled in BIOS and power options on the network card on the PC are set to not allow the card to wake the pc Any helps appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Staff we use first initial second name ie John Smith would be JSmith. Duplicated have either their middle initial put in (JASmith) or a number on the end (JSmith2) For students, First intial, second name and admin number - So John Smith would be JSmith1234 (1234 being the last 4 digits of the student's admin number). All seperated into differnt OUs in AD by their intake year - Don't get duplicates this way either.

It's last September now so I can't remember exactly, but from memory, we setup the OSX - updated to Mavericks (10.9?), then went thorough the bootcamp info and did the install that way, setup windows as we normally would. Then, we setup a Clonezilla Live USB stick as appose to using PXE/Network Boot, and took an image of the Mac using, as far as I can remember, the default settings in Clonezilla... We then booted to the USB stick from another Mac (fresh from the box), and this time used it to copy an image to the deivce, again, from what I remember using the default settings. I've not got my Clonezilla Live stick on me today, but I'll boot to it tomorrow and check exactly what options were used. Yeah it does sound as though he's not using a Mac Server now you mention it, so let's just pretend I never mentioned the Magic Triangle...

If you create a dual boot for the macs on one machine, you can then image the dual partitions using Clonezilla... Create a Clonezilla Live USB stick and it happily takes an image of the full HDD, all partitions included. Use it again to then copy the images to the other machines. I'm assuming you're also aware of the Magic Triangle to inegrate the macs into AD for authentication?

You could block chrome.exe and firefox.exe via GPO... We had a similar thing the other week, and it appears, regardless of what the exe is called, the processes are still chrome.exe and firefox.exe so the block still works. Failing that, Impero or some other monitoring tool as already mentioned. Worth noting, that if you install the chrome gpo extensions, you can lock it down pretty well, allowing it to be used.

I got a call from a particular one, and decided to string them along to the point of them wanting to remote in. Basically, they direct you to EventViewer, ask you to count the errors, and then say each error is a virus on your computer... To an average user, that would probably be believable. One that had him confused to start off with, was when he asked what my OS was, I told him Linux... He replied asking if that was Vista So, out of interest I then told him XP to see where he'd go with it. After 20 or so minutes, he asked me "what are you going to do about the viruses. For one off fee of £99 I can remove them." When I then told him I worked in IT he got very angry and abusive and put the phone down. I rang the company back, got put through to someone else and then had a big argument about how they're just scamming innocent people out of their cash, they denied they'd ever rang me and put the phone down again! Was good fun. I've been hoping they'd call me back since, as I want to let them get remote access... Can't remember the name of the company atm, but they had a very badly worded website offering a "free remote health check".
