I've been doing SSD as the cheap 'refresh' option for a few years, I try and then use the 'refresh' budget to get other needed improvements such as new switches etc. but my concern is the SLT will hear/see 'oh, you refreshed 200 PCs for only £40 each instead of £300? My last place had a five bells system, the lesson change bell was manually rung five times in quick succession which meant teachers were to lock their classroom doors and office staff were to close their office doors (but not lock them!). I'm not sure what the procedure was if the person who was supposed to be ringing the bell was actually the maniac.

We have a requirement from a few departments that they need/want a dropbox type hand in folder (which we had with our now defunct Scholaris installation). I've set something up for our BTEC Sport groups which took a couple of hours to do but I was wondering if Show My Homework has any facility for something like the following workflow: Teacher sets essay assignment Student submits 1st draft Teacher comments on 1st draft and returns to student Student either submits final version or 2nd draft Teacher marks final version / comments on 2nd draft and returns (continuing until final version) I don't know an awful lot about how SMHW operates but from what I can tell you the only way to do the above would be multiple assignments (i.e. Teacher receives first draft back but then has to return it as a new assignment to each student?)

The cynic in me says this has more to do with damaging profits later in the year and negative PR than any real 'fatigue' on the part of shoppers.

We are certainly more in the A/P school of thought here, I don't think in this ever more litigious society schools can take the chance of allowing much freedom. I am all for using social media as tools in education and we do indeed as a school make extensive use of Twitter for example. A lot of students would probably be trustworthy enough to take a more liberal approach but you would always get a few whose behaviour could land the school in very hot water and schools can't afford to sit back and take a role that is oversight based rather than pro-actively shielding. I've personally been involved in investigating two attempted grooming situations involving students and several other 'inappropriate private photo distribution on social network' situations and you simply can't wash your hands of the responsibility to actively take measures to protect students. If the worst happened the school would be torn to shreds not only by the media but also by the Local Authority safeguarding unit.

When I was a tech a few years back I placed an ad in the local free magazine for PC repair stuff and brought in some extra cash through that for a couple of years, I've noticed though in the current edition there is some guy offering to do stuff for £25 which when you factor in costs of running a car etc. isn't worth doing. I charged (and still do for word of mouth stuff) £40 fixed fee for anything up to a couple of hours work. I had some other fixed amounts for regular tasks (£60 for a reinstall of windows and transfer of files from an old machine) and occasionally there would be long jobs that cost around £150 but these usually were some sort of disaster recovery scenario.

I watch occasionally, actually planning on taking the day after the Superbowl off this year so I can stay up and watch the game, get some pizzas in etc. Got a family link with the Redskins but seriously doubt they will be troubling the Superbowl fixture list!

You've said offers in excess of £190k and you've received one. It may not be what you have wished for but it's only 2.5% less than your original asking price so in the absence of any other offers why not accept it? Can you delay accepting it until after your viewings, you can let the viewers know you've already had an offer in excess of £190k so they can try and better it if they wish. When we sold my wife's house it went on at £155k and ended up taking £143k after about six months.

The only warzone is the one currently there as a direct result of Putin sending large numbers of regular troops and equipment into a foreign country otherwise known as an invasion. It is analogous to us sending troops into Southern Spain on the pretext there are lots of 'ethnic British' there we need to protect.

It's not the first time Russia has shot down an airliner either, they shot down Korean Airlines flight 007 in the 80s (under the Soviet flag at the time). The stuff I mentioned isn't ammunition/ordnance no but do you really think there aren't older shells / missiles / ammo in the Russian arsenal? Some of the 'little green men' in Crimea are armed with older weapons and also newer equipment only issued to active Russian units. Russia has made an effort to conceal the presence of regular troops in the Ukraine but no one is surely in any doubt they are present?

Having seen some of the stuff the Russians still field the fact it is decades old is no defence whatsoever! Some examples SA-6 'Gainful' entered service in 1970, still operational T-72 tank - entered service in 1970s Mi-8 helicopter - entered service in the 1960s!

I've sold quite a few things on eBay over the past year and with the exception of selling cars it is always someone with 0 feedback (whom you are not allowed to block from bidding) who causes me problems. Mostly winning and not contacting me, I had to relist some things three times. The worst experience was selling a Toyota Yaris, it was always going to be a sub £1000 car and I kind of expected timewasters but there was a constant stream of clowns with ridiculous low ball offers, conversations went like this: First couple of clowns: Clown: Can I come look at the car? Me: Sure Clown: (after turning up late) I'll give you £300 for it Me: It's on at £1000, I'm could maybe drop it £100. Clown:£350 Me: We aren't even in the same ball park on price, I know it's a good car and it will sell for close to what I am asking, I'm not in a hurry to sell it so I can just wait. Clown: Yeah but ebay bidders never turn up and waste your time (the irony nearly overwhelmed my straight face at this point), I've got cash now and can take it off your hands (like he's doing me a big favour) Me: No, no and thrice no. Clowns 4-6: Can we look at car? Me: You can but before you come I am looking for close to the asking price, you are wasting your time (and more importantly mine) otherwise. Maybe give them the opportunity to take place in paid medical trials, the money could be saved on their behalf and used to help give them a start in life on release?
