Virgin Media is future supplier for LGfL
SneakyBeaky replied to arthur231283's topic in London Grid for Learning (LGfL)
Hampshire have also signed up with Virgin Media for their HPSN2. They have told schools that this will result in double the current bandwidth at the same or lower cost. Also the opportunity for the price to go down and addition of more services, more resilient, flexible filtering, central management. Futureclass Hosted Service to follow. Rollout for Hampshire schools begins April 2011. http://www3.hants.gov.uk/hpsn2.htm -

Windows 7 Pro to Windows XP Pro downgrade help!
SneakyBeaky replied to pbaddhan's topic in Licensing Questions
Should install ok using the Dell XP disk. I had a problem trying to install Vista over a Windows 7 installation on a Dell. It hung on 'completing installation'. After much searching the solution was to change SATA in the Bios from ACHI to ATA. Wipe the drive and re-image? -
I use Dreamweaver for my sites. But if you want others to be able to post to the site easily then you really need a CMS. Depends how big the site is going to be. I have experimented with Xara Webdesigner. Good templates for small sites. Web Design Software by Xara: Xara Web Designer

Have you by any chance just changed to a new version of MYSQL? or PHP? This sort of error first surfaced when MySQL4.1 was changed to MySQL 5 and the syntax was changed. Try updating your version of Joomla which may have a fix for the problem.

Licensing...who responsible and what are the consequences
SneakyBeaky replied to brickwall53's topic in Licensing Questions
All of our licenses are made out to the Headteacher (whoever it may be at the time of checking). The head and the governors are liable if an audit is done. Hampshire guidance (to Admin Officers) is: *Ensure that all installed software is properly licensed. *Ensure the network manager maintains a log of all software used across the network. *Keep all software media, manuals and licenses in a locked cupboard. *Ensure that license key information is securely held and not shared. *Only install software where a valid licence has been purchased. *Audit all network software at least annually (there are a range of software auditing tools available on the market that will provide real time monitoring). -

SMTP error 550 Is: Requested action not taken: mailbox unavailable (E.g., mailbox not found, no access) Seems like the error is their end. But it could be that your sending mailserver does not correctly identify itself. To be RFC 2821 compliant, the system name your computer transmits in the EHLO/HELO handshake (this occurs when two systems are about to exchange mail with one another) must be identical to the DNS name of the IP address that your computer is currently attached to. For example, if the DNS name for the IP address your mail server is on says "mailserver2.bobsbox.com", then the EHLO handshake must state that exact name. I don't know why this would only be a problem with that one recipent and not others.

The Admin Office will want the cheapest that is economical to keep running. The head will want the best! I have looked at: Samsung CLP-315W Wireless Colour Laser Printer I just say 'yes it will work', they decide the finance.

My head has asked me to source a wireless colour laser printer so that she can print from her own (not school supplied) Apple laptop, which she prefers to use rather than her allocated school desktop. Has anyone any experience of a suitable wireless printer. I have little knowledge of apple laptops.

dvd drive ? Is this a Windows 7 RC problem?
SneakyBeaky replied to chrisredfield93's topic in Windows 7
Its is not clear from your post if you have tried deleting the upper and lower filters rather than the registry entry itself. Select the registry entry and in the right panel you’ll see “UpperFilter” and “LowerFilter” (both may not be there), click on each “filter” key and delete. -

On both occasions that this has happened to boards at my school it was definitely the firmware that was corrupted.

Replied in your other thread. I use Dreamweaver for my school website. It has no facility for building an applet. I use JavaScript Web Scroller, image scroller and news scroller on web page like image slideshow You need to place the applet into the page using or whatever is an appropriate link for the scroller you are using. You can see it in use here: Brockhurst Junior
