  1. I had been running around for about 10-15mins with some bloke who kept shooting crabs....when he got killed and I got to have the gun... 7 shots later and I was out of ammo.... At this point, I noticed the crowbar jamming the door! I'm not sure what was worse.... My cheering at having "old faithful" back, or the look on my 13yo stepson's face when he realised all I could do was bat things out the way with the bar.... "Why isn't there more ammo?" came the plaintive cry!!! "Son, if you need more ammo, you ain't playing the game right" came the answer!!!
  2. I know it pretty well, as well, though! I just don't get that kind of time!!! Might have to have an hour or so this evening...... If the wife'll let me!!!
  3. I wish I had that sort of time!!! Still working my way through, but get distracted by HL2!!!
  4. Hi Sheridan, Until I left the college, last year, I was responsible for the Sophos Web and Email appliances. I have to say that I never had any problems with the proxys' getting through. I do remember spending a good few hours setting everything up though so that we were locked down. It was always a nice feeling to go into a room and hear the students complaining that they could no longer get through to Facebook, etc! I think that, like most things, if you spend the time on getting it just right....it'll be worth it! *I am not employed by sophos, nor do I have any connection to them! We use symantec where I work now!
  5. I'm thinking of changing mine to "TV Licence Detector Van" when I get home..... Just for the laughs!
  6. yeah....sorry about that! I try to keep her quiet...... LOL!!!
  7. I think it would be interesting to see the number of firings against the numbers of "uncomplicated deaths"* That would give us a better understanding of "lethal" against "non-lethal". *EDIT* http://www.taser.com/ Would suggest that the taser has been fired in excess of 2,000,000 times.....So far, I have been unable to find a definitive stat for the amount of "uncomplicated deaths"* * I use "uncomplicated deaths" to mean a death that is caused SOLELY by the taser and not by the onset of further complications.
  8. Thank you for your clarification! Now, personally, I think that the policeman would have been better served to get in front of the man and challenge him. Perhaps that is what he will choose next time. The "shoot-first, ask-questions-later" policy can never be justified whether it's a gun or a taser, can it?
  9. And I'm willing to bet you've never killed someone by mistake either????
  10. It seems quite obvious to me that you completely fail to recognise what I was saying. One would assume that a poster that lives in Hampshire would be mainly dealing in the UK press. However, if @AMLightfoot wishes to dispel that assumption, and explain that she regularly reads international (local) press, then I am glad to back down on my assumption. I chose to focus on one point of your reply, as that is what I had done originally. I concentrated on the hyperbole of the original statement. You also seem to have missed that point where I agreed that taser are lethal, but please don't let that get in the way of your frothing mouth!
  11. Good discussion skills there..... Anyway, back to the point... Tasers ARE lethal....I was questioning the quoted "...lost count of the number of stories I've seen in the news...". I would have thought that that was quite obvious from my post. I was putting forward my side that there simply are NOT that amount that get reported in the UK press. This makes it even more disturbing when they are. The hyperbole used in that sentence was what was being questioned. Please note.... At no point have I accused your post of being bull****! I also read that Amnesty Int page BEFORE posting to here! *EDIT* You may also notice that in my post I refer to the hundreds claimed in the USA. Please read my post a little closer next time.... Thank you!
  12. Do you have a source for these numbers? It's not often I play Devil's Advocate, but here goes.... "Since Tasers were introduced in 2004 three people – including Hulmes and Burns – have died after their deployment. Amnesty International believes Tasers are a legitimate option for highly trained police officers in very limited situations." - Taken from here - Taser-related deaths raise concerns over 'non-lethal' police options | World news | The Guardian That is from August 2011, and suggests that deaths aren't as common as you would like to think. Agreed that in the US figures seem to be in their hundreds, but we wouldn't read about them so much in Blighty! The sensationalism behind what you posted was unusual, and I had come to expect a more rounded view of things from you. I believe a public apology from the policeman is necessary, but the pilloring of him, and others, is not really acceptable when they are trying to do their job. I presume those amongst us who have never made a mistake would now like to come forward with their arguments???
  13. Ravensholm.... GULP! I'd forgotten how truly scary that could be on a dark night with the lights off!!! Just started Black Mesa too....That takes me back to HL....and it does look so much nicer!
  14. Am I Weird? Good title for a thread, cos it allows for opening the subject up..... Thus, am I weird? I watch my stepson play Minecraft, and to be honest, I cannot see what all the fuss is about. Graphics are s**t, gameplay seems to be nigh on non-existent, except for run around building blocky things. Can anyone explain the attraction of playing a game that wouldn't look out of place in 1987?
  15. Whoa there! That's a huge slur against my games-playing abilities!! But, despite that, it's weird that you quote the part of the game that I've just gone through!! Those antlions are HARSH! I'd never have got through it, first time around, without a walkthr...... Oh...wait.....bugger!!! It IS surprising how much of the game one can remember over the years.... This time round, the antlions have been fairly straightforward! No hints needed here!!
  16. I'm sorry....but I think you're ALL a little bit weird for watching, rather than playing! Give me a spare hour and it's back to Half Life 2 and running around killing things! Wouldn't catch me watching on youtube....even if I could remember the names to subscribe to.... *runs off to youtube to subscribe!!!
  17. Depends on the amount of love that you have for this inanimate object.... If they're offering the asking price, and leave the wardrobe, then I'd say goodbye to flat and wardrobe. If they're coming in under the value, then get them to add £500 on top of their offer. Just my view!
  18. And now they are rolling out the balloon.... Launching today is a real possibility! (Typical....just in time for the drive home!!!)
  19. A simple mistake, made you have!
  20. Wrong, you may be...
  21. But HOW do you KNOW???
  22. That would be exactly it!
  23. I've always felt that I was born a long, long, time in the future, in a galaxy far, far too close. If I'd been elsewhere, I too could have had a walking carpet and a laser gun! (*) (*) - Signifies a wookie....not a troll....but as there are no Wookie style emoticons, I had to go with the troll
  24. Looks more like half one, our time.... I shall be keeping an eye on this too.... Will be fascinating to watch...
  25. It's not actually a boring goal...and I, perhaps, worded that wrong! But seeing the savings go up bit by bit, knowing that it's be at least 2 years before we have enough for a deposit.....that makes it boring!
