That is a fallacy. As long as the bodywork is in good shape, modern engines are easily capable of hitting 250K. It is ALWAYS worth checking the bodywork extra carefully on a car that old though.

I think one of the biggest problems with cars is the mistaken belief that a car is a symbol of your stature in life/community. It's pretty obvious that anyone under, say, 35, looks on a car as a status symbol. Form and function tend to take a back seat to top speed and spoilers! When I was looking to replace my Saab, in April, the most important thing to me was mpg and comfort! Being in my early 40's may explain that decision! Just as a side point, and slightly off topic.... Does anyone else believe that new drivers should not be allowed to drive a car bigger than 1000cc for the first 2 years after they pass their test? Would be interested to read comments on that....but that may be for another thread!!

What is your Internet speed at Home
aerospacemango replied to hawc's topic in Internet Related/Filtering/Firewall
I had reason to be doing stuff with my bthomehub last night, and couldn't help noticing that although the speedtest on my phone shows around 12-18Meg, the hub shows a constant speed of 23Meg.... -

Hmmmm...that's not got an SD card slot either! But it has been used by someone else! Bonus! So, for an extra £60, you can have someone elses' play thing..... Niiiice! -
9 MILES TO THE GALLON????? *chokes on tea*

I once had mine up to an unmentionable speed on the A13, coming out of London. Oh, the joy of driving that car! Mine was a 95, on an "M" plate. Sold it via Ebay, and was almost in tears as it was picked up! Thanks to @sted ....I'll let my bruv know your thoughts
-
What is that like to own and drive, @sted ? My brother is very interested in getting one....and I like the look of them too....even though my latest car was only bought 3 months ago!!!

Had one of those 10 years ago..... WHAT A CAR!!!! I loved that car like no other (well, not quite as much as my Capri!!!) Full leather interior, electric everything, and 6 disc CD in boot. What a car!! Now, I have an Avensis estate.... Function over form....especially with 2 step-kids, who are teenagers, and one 7 year old, who I have to drive 110 miles to pick up and drop off at his mothers'. 50+mph helps in that situation!

Just received a shiver down my spine as I tried to STOP myself from doing that! I am just the same!

Senior IT Technician - Northants - June 2012

Were there many applications for this? Almost applied myself..... -
Oh come on.... Is anyone else not surprised at all as to how we went out? Poor performance, last night, where we let the Italians have far too much possession, and they could/should have been out of sight by full time. Oh well.....Brazil 2014 to look forward to....but hope that Young, Milner, Terry and Cole get nowhere near THAT particular squad! The reasons why I pick those? Young - Did virtually nothing for most of the tournament, except unneccessary diving at every opportunity Milner - Waste of a shirt. Every time he got wide, he tried to cut back in instead of crossing the ball. If he did manage a cross, it was generally very poor quality. Terry - Hope he'll never wear an England shirt again. "We know what you said" Cole - Great full back, but will fade away now. (These, as a QPR fan, are my own opinions, and I place them here for debate, not a flame war!)
-
Who do you report to? How stable is the company in the current climate (asked that one at my own job interview.... They were surprisingly forthright with their answer too!) What would your core tasks be What could you reasonably be expected to take on, as well as the IT job Good luck! Not sure you'll get much in the way of system infrastructure.... Now that I'm in private sector, I wouldn't be telling everyone about OUR infrastructure!!!
-
I've noticed that no one has brought up the Clint Hill "goal" against Bolton for QPR? I was directly in line with it (in a corporate box.... ooOOoo...flash get!.... Yes, well it WAS a freebie!!...but I digress.....) and cannot understand how neither the ref OR the linesman missed that. I could see it and I was 20 yards FURTHER AWAY than the linesman (sorry....Referees assistant). Back to the point though.... GLT or video replay would have sorted that out in seconds.... Sky were showing the replays that proved conclusive within 30 seconds. England to reach the Semis? Hope so, but Italy will be a tough match. Overall, I was happy with last night considering we were up against one of the home nations who HAD to win to stand a chance of going through. Onwards and upwards for Roy and the boys! P.S. I'd also like to congratulate everyone on ignoring the blatant anti-football posts!!!

I found SEC a doddle compared to WDS! However, WDS gets easier over time....not sure you can say the same about SEC!!

[video] Fast Food Drive Through Floating Cup Trick

I think it's only in one of the very last shots that you can see the fishing line..... Good vid tho! -
Arrrhhhh... But there's the rub! Having done a fair bit of travelling, I took our kids there, and as they live in a land-locked county (Northants) the sea retains it's mystical power to draw you close for cockles, whelks and dodgy cod and chips!! However, it did bring up a decent trial.... Blackberry Vs Samsung! The older kids BB's were no match when it came to battery power! Even my FWs' phone (Samsung Ace) was able to last most of the day, whilst my Galaxy survived with relative ease! The BBs had to be switched off during the day to conserve battery power for the journey home!!
-
2nd funniest thing I've read today! Which is precisely what I do... Go to bed, stick it on charge!
-
Here's my view! On Monday, I took the family to Skegness, from Northants, and whilst in the car I put the phone into "airplane mode" and gave it to my son so he could play lots of games (BMX Boy, Pool Master, Angry Birds etc). The drive took 2 hours and when we arrived I was pleasantly surprised to see that there was still bags of charge. Turning airplane mode OFF, I updated twitter/foursquare/facebook throughout the day, and STILL had lots of charge for the journey home and the inevitable playing of games. This is all on a Galaxy S. Mind you, if I keep everything on, and I'm at work, the battery tends to last until about 4pm!

[android] HTC One X vs Google Galaxy Nexus Battery Life?
aerospacemango replied to SYNACK's topic in Mobile Devices & Tablets
Running ICS 4.0.4 on my Galaxy S. Only had it on a few days, but it does seem to run better than the previous build. For the record, I think the S3 would be the better choice over the HTC or Nexus..... but that is just my opinion! -
So, the tickets are booked for Saturday night..... Prometheus is coming!! Is anyone else as excited as I am to see this film? I cannot remember the last time I wanted to see a film this much.....except The Phantom Menace (and what a let down THAT was!!!) Anyone else going to see this film? Reviews (without spoilers!) could go on this thread, with a /10 score?
