Possibly moving from LEA, need a new anti virus solution.
jonnykewell1 replied to jonnykewell1's topic in Enterprise Software
I mean the deployment of the client from the enterprise console of the anti virus, not so much deployment of other software. cheers. -
Hello all, we are looking at the possibility of moving from our LEA and I have been told to look for another anti virus program. We currently use Sophos but tbh we have never been much of a fan. As well as having a good rating as regards to viruses we need one that blocks removable storage and has a good enterprise console for managing and deploying software and keeping an eye on which machines are up to date etc... I had a play with ESET Nod32 a couple of years ago but I could'nt get the software deployment quite right. Any advice would be much appreciated. Regards, Jonny.

I have the S3 now and I love it. I have had an Iphone 4 in the past but now I don't think I would look back. Really fast, can root easy and load my friends custom roms and make it look as nice as I want. Got all the apps the apple stuff has and many more.

not sure if you ever got something sorted, but if you have SIMS there is a feature called "on call" for this. -

Java Crashing "Randomly"
jonnykewell1 replied to Gongalong's topic in Internet Related/Filtering/Firewall
I think this seems to be the same problem we are having. websites that require java like DL Online - Login , Wordle - Beautiful Word Clouds , Screencast-O-Matic - Free online screen recorder for instant screen capture video sharing. , all seem to cause big problems here. -
apple deices don't work for me either on Meraki so I have emailed our LEA to open the ports mentioned. Will let you know how I get on.

Computer room booking system
jonnykewell1 replied to jonnykewell1's topic in Network and Classroom Management
jeeze the pricing is abit steap for a room booking system. I'll stick to my spreadsheet lol. -
Hi Guys, how do you all manage computer room bookings? we have 10 rooms around the school that when empty can be booked out to any department. At the minute we have a simple spreadsheet with the days and rooms available and we have two separate weeks of timetables week a and week b. We would like to introduce some sort of online system that can be viewed as read only and then a request can be sent to us via email. We do have home access but the initial login for it seems pretty slow, probably as it is authenticating with AD on another server. Cheers, Jonny

Ipad Deployment - Server Choice & Information
jonnykewell1 replied to Darylrese's topic in Mobile Devices & Tablets
just signed up to this and the only problem I have is with apple products working through the firewall/proxy android seem fine., i can connect and register the devices but the apps don't download. I have e-mailed the lea to open up ports and see what happens, other than that it works great on a normal line. Thanks for the recommendation. -

sounds like explorer is crashing? Have you tried control alt delete, stop the service explorer.exe then go to file>new task and run exeplorer.exe again -
Try aria.co.uk we use them and get gigabyte motherboards, intel G series dual core 2.8ghz, 2gb ram and 500gb hard drive, coolermaster cases and with a DVD drive for £189 ish.

Just bought my girlfriend a kodak hero 7.1, runs fine, ink is nice and cheap compared to the others, it's wireless too. laser ones are great but i find the toner just costs too much for a colour.

I think they should build a whole city based on a real city like New york. Yeah the game would be huge but just imagine how cool it would be haha.

Wordle.net "Not in GZIP Format"
jonnykewell1 replied to Iain.Faulkner's topic in Internet Related/Filtering/Firewall
we have all sorts of problems with Java and wordle, some of our users can't even get to the create page, or when they press create type the text and press go nothing happens. I notice errors on page when in Internet explorer 8 on XP. any ideas? -
Thanks for this Dos_Box that answers my question regarding the one cable which I still think is weird! We are running a netgear managed system the other laptops from the batch seem to be ok, I will take note of what driver the repair guys have installed on the windows 7 home install (argh) and then put professional back on and see how it runs.

The connection kept dropping from the wireless. taking ages to join and not joining in some cases.

haha gotta laugh. -
Hi all, we bought a batch of Lenovo B570e Laptops just before Christmas. A user was experiencing issues with the wireless so I took a look, tried different drivers etc... still having issues. I decided to unscrew the bottom panel and re seat the wireless card and make sure the antennas were plugged in properly. Anyway the wireless card only has 1 antenna but two sockets like most. I thought this was weird as I don't believe I have seen a laptop with only 1 antenna cable usually you get 1 black 1 white. I checked the other laptops from the batch and they are the same. Can anyone on here with one of these possibly check and see if it is suppose to have 2 cables? A newer lenovo model which we have just bought does have the 2 antenna cables as do older g550 and g650 we have. We sent it back to a repair center and all they did is send it back with a fresh copy of windows 7 which is not what I wanted. HELP! thanks in advance. Jonny

Hey, Have you checked permissions on the actual share not just the individual user folder to allow access for that specific user?
