  1. Hi guys, thanks for all replies, its not just so I can control the pc's its so we can use my connection from home through tunnelling as our service provider block everything at work. i know 443 is open so i could route the ssh through that couldn't i and then link to port 22? cheers.
  2. Hi guys, tried using putty to connect to my ssh server at the weekend, locally i get a connection in no problem but if i put in the external ip address i get connection refused, I have changed the SSHD_config file to allow to 443, so from work i assume i enter the external ip address and port 443 not 22 to get the connection through to my router, any help would be much appreciated, [email protected] if anyone could contact me for help. Thanks.
  3. I did this for the entire school during the summer, Create a script like this " REM --- Check for an existing installation of Microsoft Office 2010 if exist "%systemdrive%\office2010.txt" goto _End REM --- Deploy to Windows 2000/XP/2003 "\\server\Packages\Office 2010new\setup.exe" /config "\\server\Packages\Office 2010new\ProPlus.WW\config.xml" copy /y "\\server\NETLOGON\Office2010\Office2010.txt" "%systemdrive%\Office2010.txt" REM --- End of the script Office TXT should be in C:\ Local :_End Exit configure using the OCT tool make sure to included the key, no matter what happens you will still need to activate the machine afterwards unless you use the Microsoft tool that updates the keys for you. Make sure you enable proofing tools as they are disabled so no spell checker argh! As mention above extract the service pack 1 and move all the MSP files into the updates folder in the office package.
  4. the whole reason it has sold for £2 is the fact that they are up to their eyeballs in debt. They fail to mention that.
  5. I contacted Our Internet provider who did something which then allowed yahoo to work, obviously some sort of web page block was stopping reply or even opening the emails in the new design.
  6. what standard are the routers? what channel are you broadcasting on? nothing else near by on the same channel? How many ipads and ipods iphones etc are connecting to the wireless at any time. all factors to consider. Plus any devices will only run at the speed of the slowest device connected to the AP.
  7. typical rugby player comments yawn...
  8. i would say the network card too, what happens when you log in and then plug the cable back in? does it pull in an IP address?
  9. Thank you for your replies, it is only non admin users that it affects. I have moved it from the room it was in and brought it back to the IT office, into some new gigabit switches that we had installed. The server have been restarted recently as of windows updates etc.. Plus the fact that it only affects this machines is what is confusing as surly a GPO would set this to all machines? Or more speicfically all the machines in the specific OU?, will double check for permissions etc.. Thanks for you replies so far.
  10. Morning all, Got a weird weird problem that is bugging us all in the office. One machine in a class room of machines that all have the same hardware/software has decided that Office documents only will not save to a network share. We have reinstalled from scratch a few times, with images, with blank installs xp3 and xp2 still will not save. Iv tried different version of office 2007 and 2010 still nothing. Used a pci network card, different hard drive, different RAM, still nothing. The problem states that the network share is full or the document name is too long, well the document is called test.docx or xlsx and the share has TB's of free room. Its driving me nuts now. I also get an error message when word starts stating that "word could not create the work file, check the temp environment variable". Iv used google for this which mentions something about where internet explorer saves temp files, and also offered a microsoft fix it tool which did absolutly bugger all. Baring in mind these are fresh installs and no other machines suffers the same problem ruling out any GPO in place. Any help would be very much appreciated. CPU: Intel E5500 Mobo: Gigabyte G41mt-S2P Cheers, Jonny

Get the premium one at £120, the elite hardly has any differences, the main ones are inbuilt wifi, bigger hard drive and its black! Get the premium it;ll do everything you want for MW3 and all now have HDMI.
  13. yeah we also just remove the local profile to fix this problem.
  14. when you deleted the profile did you just delete it from c:\ users? if so that does not work for windows 7, you need to right click on my computer and go to properties. On the advanced tab click settings next to user profiles. Find the profile causing issues left click and press delete. Then try log on again.
  15. What do you mean by GPP?, its becoming a real pain and don't really want to run a repair on every machine.
  16. what version of sims are you guys running? Over night we upgraded to 7.140 which also requires framework 4 installing on all machines, and since that update our load times have halved to roughly 6 seconds.
  17. Rolled out office 2010 over the summer. As 2003 is no longer installed, we decided to uninstall the office compatability pack. But on lots of machines the powerpoint and excel documents xlsx and pptx stopped recognising the software to open with even though office 2010 is installed?! Anyone else had a similair problem. If you double click the file excel and powerpoint are not on the list and as we block kids accessing C:\ drive they cannot browser to the office14 folder. Instead we have to go round log in as admin and set it ourselves.
  18. Agreed, the company who manage your SIMS or provide your SIMS should have given you a username and password.
  19. Do you have a gmail account? open the documents in google docs then re save them as a .doc. That works for me if I come across some documents that will not work. Google docs seems to open everything.
  20. Ours is alot quicker than that probably 10 seconds max but we dont use AD intergration so it could be down to that.
  21. if you right click the document and press print does that work?
  22. I got two belkin ones and they would only work straight into the main wall sockett so double check on some reviews of the model you are buying.
  23. try this, we are trialing it at the minute, works well with SIMS. Groupcall Emerge - the powerful yet intuitive iPhone / iPod 'App' which enables schools to have an up-to-the-minute copy of their MIS data instantly and securely available in the palm of their hand
