we don't actually label them with a name, but we use School Asset Manager | The Solution to Better Asset Management who provide us with a sticker for the machines with a QR code. All managed by an app and and online database. We then write in UV paint the serial number and the school on the machine.

bit touchy faizzsheikh. Exactly as the others said, if you don't have the rights to get to group policy settings, which for this will be on the server then maybe you shouldn't be playing with the settings put in place by your administrators.

I am assuming as this is your first post and that you are asking us about this that you don't actually have admin rights to go onto group policy and just allow the device lol.

we are also looking into setting up our own filtering system and leaving the local LEA. As you are from Leeds it would appear we are in the same boat. Looking at smoothwall too and I have heard good things but it's always good to give others an opportunity to show us their products. Just got to get these things in place as soon as possible so we can at least get to grips with it.

yeah I was look at either game or blockbuster website. Have amazon started selling it again yet? I heard they stopped it due to the problems.

never played the SIM CITY games. Only just decided to have a read and they sound brilliant I don't know where I have been the last god knows how many years. Was looking at the new one but i've decided to hold back buying it at the minute and I have bought Sim City 4 to have a play and get used to the whole concept. The graphics look amazing on the 2013 version. Just looking online and they charge up to £10 more for a digital download? How do they justify that?

I must admit when I got my encrypted memory stick I had some initial problems getting it to load up the second partition. A very basic idea but try different USB ports that also made a difference for me for some reason, forcing it to reload the driver for the stick. Also has the user had this through the washing machine lately haha?

Have you checked that the second drive is getting mapped with a drive letter? Also have you had any new mapped drives on the network later that may have stolen it's usual drive letter.

go to the start menu, find run. type "services.msc" , find ab tutor on the list, right click and select stop

you can either get the teacher to right click on that machine and select unlock, stop the services, or probably unplug the network cable?

can anyone fill me in on SCCM. i've never come across it and want to know more about it's benefits and what it actually does. How easy it is to set up and use etc.. cheers. jonny

Tablet gaming is the future, when you look at how good some of these games are now, give it a few years and there will be no need for a consoles.

that avast is a good price. As for sophos not finding all that spyware is pretty worrying. we have the disadvantage of having over 1200 machines so either way it will knock the costs up a fair bit. but... i'm not the one paying lol.

I can't remember the name of the one I was told about, but you can get some free software that I believe is linux based and can be placed at the edge of your home network and used as security that filters all traffic coming in and tells you about any potential threats. so you have one network port coming in and one going out and it monitors everything. might be useful.

I will look into this as I have seen it mentioned but never looked at it.
