  1. Seriously thought this was game related rather than OS related. Hehe And seriously, XP has had its day! Windows 7 all the way!
  2. Skype is a bit of a pig in ALL respects....
  3. Hello nile! I was advised to turn this off due to possible interference with Skype connections. It's not a problem, I blocked it manually anyway. Thanks, and apologies!
  4. Also, at lot of us are TECHNICIANS, not TRAINERS or TEACHERS, and we are not paid as such.
  5. Same as @localzuk. Unfortunately that has the side effect of staff thinking that I know how to use every single piece of software in the entire world ever made... RTFM! (please...)
  6. SmoothWall isn't picking this up at the moment...
  7. Just having a look at the program, it accepts the /VERYSILENT switch. This means you could probably run it as a startup script. Something as simple as \\fileserver\Monkey_Jam_Setup.exe /VERYSILENT in a .bat file
  8. Tried deleting the temp files and trying again?
  9. UAC enabled?
  10. I don't see a problem with this. More competition means more innovation at lower prices (in theory). This isn't even an exclusive deal. I haven't used a WinPho7 phone, but I have no bias against it or Microsoft. Nokia have produced some stunning handsets in the past, but have been let down with the software. Clearly if each sticks to what it does well, then the deal should produce some fairly competitive phones, no?
  11. Pretty sure you can't do this via GPO, you would have to edit each printers security settings, assuming you have them deployed from a printer server.
  12. No yo-yos here, most of them would probably get tangled up in the string anyway.
  13. Are you running any Windows servers? We intergrated it into our AD so they can use their domain creds. And yes, same way, categories define where it goes. Great minds eh!
  14. We do the exact same thing here, and the crazy thing is THE STAFF ACTUALLY USE IT. Yes, its 100% true. We have two reception screens and 2 staffroom screens, all running from 2 wordpress installs. Works a treat, even if I do say so myself.
  15. Reported Jaffa cakes are not cakes. Discuss.
  16. Have you tried a different wireless card? I know its extreme, but we've found that we have much better results with Intel based wireless cards, with Ralink being the worst. Had mixed results with Realtek ones. Failing replacing the internal card, how about trying one with a usb dongle? Or failing that, do they have static IP's?
  17. What wireless card have they got?
  18. If the fowarders are being resolved and clients are able to browse and resolve addresses, then no, you're all set.
  19. No! COMIC SANS! /sadface Other than that, wow!
  20. Just do what we do - slap SmoothWall on an oldish spare server. We're heavily virtualised here and we weren't too keen on having to put SmoothWall on it's own server initially. However, it runs great on its own box and even if the guys at SmoothWall do managed to navigate the Microsoft minefield and get it working on Hyper-V, we don't have any plans to switch it to a virtualised environment.
  21. We use AXIS P3343's here. We have 3 of them. HD recording, weather proof, work at night, PoE. However they are EXPENSIVE. £700 a pop if I recall...

  23. We use Symantec Endpoint here. No problems at all.
  24. I take it you have followed these instructions witch? How to Turn Integrated Authentication on The File ntlmsso_magic.php (1.9 or above) or oncampuslogin.php (1.8 or below) MUST have NTLM/Integrated Authentication enabled at the server or the page will not work. IIS Configuration Open up IIS, and find the auth/ldap/ntlmsso_magic.php (1.9 or above) or auth/ntlm/oncampuslogin.php (1.8 or below) file, 1. right click on the file, choose properties 2. under the "file security" tab, click on the Authentication and Access control "edit" button 3. untick "Enable Anonymous Access" and tick "Integrated Windows Authentication" 4. According to this post, if you are using IIS 7.5 (it comes with Windows Server 2008 R2), you have to select 'Windows Authentication' and click on 'Providers'. This shows a list of enabled providers (Negotiate and NTLM, by default). Change the order so that NTLM is at the top of the list. Otherwise I can't help. moodle on apache here!
